Because I can’t appreciate them enough... In most cases, those that attend festivals don’t know the work that goes into making it all happen. My CT Localpalooza Music & Art Festival staff is all volunteer. We are a group of people that come together out of a love for our local music and art scenes and our hope to share that with all that attend. In the year, months, weeks, days leading up to CTLPZ, we all work pretty hard to make sure everything is done right, and we can pull it all off without a ‘hiccup’. From graphics to coordinating bands, from promotion to getting our venue ready and so much more in between, I am forever grateful for this CTLPZ family for all that they do. We’ve been through rain, skunked dogs, a tornado (which led us to an Autumn festival and one of the coldest days of the year!), COVID and a few other glitches over the past 9 festivals; every single time that I have had to pivot to make it happen, all of these wonderful people have stood by my side and helped to make sure that it does happen. They spend their free time designing, printing, promoting, cleaning, moving, building, cooking, setting up and then, on the 2nd Saturday in June, they show up to work a really long day. The day of, we are also often ‘putting out fires’ behind the scenes. I need to give an extra special shout out today to those that have come up to TSP to lend a hand over the past couple of weekends. To Sarah and Dave D for helping to unload our storage space so that I could assess some things we may need, to Matt and Dave B for helping to move our stage into place and to Andy and April for their help with some of the Spring cleanup at TSP this past week. When you see someone wearing a staff shirt on June 8th please give them some appreciation... a handshake, a high five, a hug. Today marks the end of #Year10 in Pelladise. Before my regularly scheduled (late) spring week in review, I wanted to post some WAY throw backs to a much simpler time -- and definitely someone who did not know the road ahead. Whether it was interviewing whatever that mascot was for Central, venturing to the Dome, going back to campus, meeting students from the Netherlands, reconnecting with old friends, or random longing looks toward coworkers on Facebook live, those were the early building blocks to who I am today. Each practical has a particular focus with common areas that are examined. For the Osmosis RP be very confident with your definition. Osmosis is the movement of WATER from an area of high (dilute) concentration to an area of low (concentrated solution) through a semi-permeable membrane. 💧🥔 Top Tip- the practical does not have to be focussed on a potato!! 🩷 If I had a penny for every time I get asked for a GCSE exam question prediction! 🙌 🩵 Well, let me tell you this....there will be no surprises this year! Like any other year you will be expected to include the following: 🩷 A range of descriptive techniques 🩵 Varied vocabulary used for effect 🩷Varied sentence starters and sentence types 🩵 Varied punctuation 🩷A tight, controlled structure 🩵Preferably one location 🩷One time frame 🩵 One key event 🩷Limited number of characters ⚡So, the golden question is...How can I prepare for my exam? 🩵Have a go to character! A character that you have imagined and you know inside out. Know what your character is like, how they behave, what they like, how they speak, how they interact with other people. 🩷Have go to settings. It is best to plan and prepare a bank of vocabulary for two types of setting: nature (e.g. a beach, forest, meadow, garden etc.) and urban (a city, a busy street, etc). 🩵Have a go to mood: positive and uplifting; and dark and ominous. 🩷This is exactly how my year 11 students have been prepping for their creative writing exam. These are the same strategies I will be discussing in more detail during my "'Twas the Night Before' My English Exam " Masterclasses. 🩵 Parents of Year 11 students!
