There’s a saying that if we decided to add walking to the school curriculum, within 50 years we’d believe that walking couldn’t be learned outside of school. I couldn’t think of a better way to explain the hold that the education system has created over our society. Your child has learned everything they needed to know within the comfort of your love and trust in their unique capabilities. Why is the abnormal thing to just keep trusting that natural progression? Why don’t we scratch our heads at the belief that suddenly we aren’t capable of providing the right environment for our children and we need to let someone else do that instead? It is my mission to make you challenge these beliefs, no matter how uncomfortable they may make you. It’s time to start shifting towards more conscious choices in this world, and the way in which we help our children learn and grow needs to be at the pinnacle of these decisions. So the question is- do you trust your child? Do you trust yourself? Because if the answers are yes, then you don’t need to be a part of the experiment. ✌🏽

|| D A Y • 66 || I was looking over attendance for this month and noticed something interesting: we’ve practically made the 180 day goal and here’s it’s only April and the middle of our Spring Term! We’re not calling it quits just yet, because due to being so heavy on literature there’s still quite a few books I want to finish! But I ran this idea past the children, and here’s what we will do: every week we will focus on finishing one subject or book, only doing school a fewish days a week, until all subjects are complete. This book is just 💔 it's from the child's POV, and she sees it so differently to how we, as adults, see it. Kate Milner is the wonderful author who wrote the book "My name is not Refugee." It's a lovely story, though. This line at the top especially hit me. We spoke about how mummy and daddy briefly had to use a food bank at one point and why we give food when we can, to help people like those in this book. As adults, we may feel ashamed that we have to use a food bank, although sometimes it's our only option and more and more people are having to turn to them. Last week was so busy! Monday we did some Earth day activities. They watched a recording of @zoologywithelearnwithamy lesson about animals coming back from the brink of extinction, I'm glad we waited to watch it because it was absolutely perfect for earth day. Then they went for their swimming lesson. Tuesday was their drama lesson first thing, then the park and the library with friends. Wednesday they did an AQA about Zentangles then it was our monthly outdoor learning group at Stover, we did a bodge job maypole dance which was a hilarious disaster and a lot of fun. Then they made their Page of nature posters for the @twinklhomeeducators event (which needs to be submitted by 30th). Thursday we had our STEM club and learned some more about hydraulics. I might do a separate post about that as I invented a flapping butterfly model for it using syringes and pipe that I ordered especially and other things I had at home. We went to the park after and we had a lovely time with friends including @homeedding3boys who came all the way down to join us for STEM club. Friday the pixies went to Grandma and Grandpops for the day while I was at work. So much talk about holidays at the moment... The fines that the government are bringing in to restrict families going on holiday are ridiculous. Especially when you consider the price difference for going away in the school holidays. Our family manages to get away about 8x a year on average by taking advantage of the cheap prices! We can do a Monday-Friday at Butlins or Haven for less than £100. Quite often we go away with our friends and have so much fun playing all day. Et nous avons passé un super moment avec un super groupe 🥰 merci La Recyclotopie pour l'organisation! Et je sais que non seulement ma fille gardera de très bons souvenirs de cette belle matinée à chasser des déchets en compagnie de son père, sa mère et son petit frère. Mais elle a aussi appris beaucoup de chose! comme par exemple les fumeurs ne respectent vraiment rien 🤣 (ouai! on a ramassé beaucoup de mégots!) If you’ve been here for awhile, you know we LOVE nature! As a child my parents always made it a huge part of our daily life and as I grew up the love for nature always remained. I always told Jeff if we have kids I will foster that connection to nature and have our kids love the outdoors. In 2017 we started to visit the garden with the girls at an age I felt they could truly explore and appreciate this space. We were inspired by the butterfly garden which later turned into us raising monarchs! But our visits can be seen on our social media and flooded in my phone albums. We were asked in March to come in for an interview to be highlighted in the “Member Spotlight” and did we all have so much to share about the garden! We were told our article would be featured in April which is so special because it’s Earth Month! If you know our girls they always want to bring friends to the garden to explore and share their favorite spots and flowers! This article is special to us as we love the @californiabotanicgarden and we hope you will stop and take a visit too!

It took me four years to be confident in my Home Education Journey. Alhumdulillah for me privately educating my kids at home is the best choice I have ever made because of ALLAH's help, mercy and guidance. And of course my husband's continuous support. I am confident enough in my kids home education journey because ALLAH knows my intentions and goals for upbringing, education and development of kids. I opted for home education because I want a nurturing environment for my child and definitely the school system is not nurturing kind and mindful kids. The school system teaches kids how to compete, compare, envy, bully and follow the rat race. We also studied in schools that's the main reason I am not trusting school systems for my kids. Teachers are amazing but the school system is a business and they treat our kids like products. If you want to explore this path and learn more about Holistic Education of your kids then I can help you to clear your doubts and will let you know how you can start educating your kids at home with minimal resources that will give you maximum results. Even if you don't have any degree it doesn't matter at all. I am not teaching language, maths and science to my kids I'm outsourcing from a private tutor. Harriet Adu’s life spins as she tries to find peace in the aftermath of her sixteen-year-old brother’s death. The tragedy happened to occur the day they had a huge blowup that ended with her wishing he was dead. She certainly didn’t mean it, and now she’ll do anything to turn back the hands of time. With multiple references to Nigeria and life in New York City—both head nods to the author’s background—this book offers a strong sense of place and culture within Harriett’s family and community.
