ver since I was a kiddo I’ve wanted to sit on top of the Space Needle and ride all the way around. It’s funny how some things stick with us when we’re kids and we think to ourselves “now THAT’s something I’d like to do!” So it only made sense that I’d appease my inner child by going up the Space Needle on my recent work trip to Seattle and take the full hour to grab a beer (though that’s more my adult child self) and enjoy the sights of mountains, water, and city. I also thought it was really interesting to learn about how the building was designed to look like a UFO. As someone who used to love scanning the local newspaper for the UFO sightings section at the rural Dairy Queen and just devour them, I’m a fan. #thetruthisoutthere. The Chihuly Museum (@chihulygg) at the base of the Space Needle was also super awesome as Chihuly’s always had a special place in my art-loving heart. Brrrr.... I didn't plan accordingly. It was 22°F with very high winds. The next morning, I woke up and couldn't feel the tip of my middle finger. I honestly didn't think much of it. Well, that was almost a month ago, and still no feeling. Thankfully, I do not have frost bite since the damage is irreversible; it is something called frost nip and can last from weeks to months. Finally found split rock! 🙌 My husband and I went to Joshua Tree National Park back in January and walked the split rock trail, but somehow never found the split rock lol. We saw a few rocks that looked like they could "maybe" be the main attraction, but none of them were prominent enough to be named after. Since being back, I finally found split rock and it is undeniably the star of the hike. Leaving this beautiful state is *hard* It feels like I’m going through an amicable divorce with Arizona and even though I have so many amazing memories, I wanted something permanent to remind me of my favorite place. The Superstition Mountains have been my playground and happy place for the last seven years. The western most aspect of the ridge line is iconic and one of the most photographed places in AZ. This area is also home to one of my favorite hikes in the state - The Flatiron. It seemed fitting to get a small tattoo in honor of the place that makes me happiest.
