Northern Water Snakes. Often mistaken for Water Moccasins, these snakes aren’t as territorial or aggressive and just want to splash in the water and eat fish and frogs. It’s late April, so they’re coming out of hibernation around now and will soon be mating. While they will give a nasty bite if threatened, their bites aren’t lethal, as these snakes don’t produce venom. So just admire them from afar :)

Took the time to have a little explore of the ruins of the Cefn Coch gold mines and the Rhaeadr Du Waterfalls in Coed Ganllwyd Nature Reserve. #manitouincline - We made it! 🙌 2,744 steps + 2,000 elevation gain in approximately one mile to the top #weloveachallenge - Here’s why we would definitely recommend it! 🙌and some ℹ️ if you’re going to add this one to your 🥾📝… ⬆️ The route is a simple one to follow. Just go 🆙 and when you think you’re close to the top, keep going up some more 😂 🔢 There are numbered markers on the steps, so you can see how many you’ve climbed every so often. 👟You don’t need hiking boots for this one. Running shoes are 👍 ⬇️ We passed some people coming back down the stairs as we were heading up, so if you want a shorter hike (and are fine with climbing down some pretty steep steps), that’s an option. However, we took the Barr Trail, which we highly recommend. It’s to your left when you get to the top of the incline, and it’s a 3 mile trail made up of switchbacks with absolutely gorgeous scenery as you make your way down the mountain. 🔥 The climb to the top is not easy, but it is so worth it. We took our time and stopped periodically, as did just about everybody else who was climbing. Be sure to have plenty of water and take the breaks you need. It’s a very fulfilling feeling when you get to the top 🤩 🚗💲 There is parking at the base of the trail but it’s limited. The cost is $15. We arrived a little after 10:30 AM and were only able to get a spot because somebody had just left. Otherwise it was full. There is additional parking further away where you can park and then either walk or take a shuttle to the base of the incline. ⏲ Our hike totaled 4.2 miles and took 2.5 hours to complete. 📷 The pics in these post are just from the Manitou incline portion of the hike. Ich empfehle grundsätzlich festes Schuhwerk, auch bei leichten Wanderungen! ♦️ Start am Parkplatz vom vorderen Langbathsee (Ebensee/OÖ) ♦️ großteils Forststraße, kurzer knackiger Anstieg ♦️ Trittsicherheit leicht ♦️ Kondition leicht ♦️ Besonderheit: eine absolute Ruhe beim Wandern - nur das Plätschern des Bachs und die Vögel haben mich begleitet. ♦️ Weiterwanderung zum hinteren Signalkogel möglich Ich gehe meine Touren bevorzugt unter der Woche, da erfahrungsgemäß weniger los ist. I love the Carolina Wren for how elusive it is. It’s honestly quite difficult for me to capture these birds. They like to nest in thick vegetation like bushes or even under leaf piles, and aren’t big fans of colder weather, so it’s not common to see them just wandering around in the open. They also are known to mate for life. I’m noticing a bit of myself in these birds.

We kicked off our #SpringBreak with a fantastic #hike at #gardenofthegods in #coloradosprings ⛰️ Here’s why we would definitely recommend it 🙌 and some ℹ️ if you’re going to add this one to your 🥾📝… ➡️ Although we typically start our hikes with a trail we’ve selected on AllTrails, for this one, we checked out the park map first. We selected some camera spots on the map we knew we wanted to reach, and then used our #alltrails app to help navigate. 👟The route we followed was moderately challenging. (Check out our most recent AllTrails story for our exact route.) You don’t need hiking boots for this one. We were totally fine in running shoes. 🪨There are spectacular views of red rock formations all along the way. Our favorite parts were the beginning of the hike where you’re really up close to many of them, and the formation titled Siamese Twins. But all of it is really fantastic! It’s a beautiful park all around. 🐴 We encountered a group of horseback riders along the way. We also spotted a few deer. ✅ The trails are well marked, but as always, we used our AllTrails app to help navigate. 🚗 We parked at the main visitor center parking lot. There is no fee for parking or to enter the park. There are other lots that are closer to the trails but it only adds about 3/4 mile round trip walking (that’s a rough estimate) to leave your car at the visitor center and start/end there. If you walk into the forest first (entrance Josy Barthel Trail) there's no problem but the other way around you have to pay attention and stay on the small path covered with woodchips, after the pond a bit to the right ❗If you like a longer walk in this area, you can combine it with the Circuit Josy Barthel, which has the same starting point and also the Michel Lucius Trail Bettborn, starting at the cemetery of Bettborn. 💡The Michel Lucius Museum (9, Rue Dr. Lucius L-8414 Reimberg) is open every 1st Sunday of the month from 10.30am to 11.30am. You can discover how a geologist works, how to decipher a geological map, and which stones can be found in and around the museum
