In fact, this attitude could even make them worse. A sage knows that men and women are all children of God, and he approaches every being with this thought foremost in mind. In this way, he works as a creator, developing the divine side in everybody he meets, which makes him happy too. DAILY MEDITATION: TUESDAY, APRIL 23, 2024 Good and evil - we can never really make valid judgments on them We can never really make valid judgments on good or evil, because nothing is ever either wholly good, or wholly bad. Even the best things in life have their drawbacks. Just think of the arrival of spring. On the one hand, it is wonderful – light and warmth make everything bloom. Yes, but bugs flourish too – wasps, flies, caterpillars, aphids and mosquitoes abound. And what of technical progress, is it good or bad? Many discoveries that initially brought immense improvements ended up producing catastrophes, because human beings failed to be prudent and foresighted enough to reflect on the possible consequences. There is no need for me to give you examples, you can see for yourself every day. So, whatever the conditions or events, precautions must be taken. The very best things can turn out badly for those who are ignorant because they are not prepared to deal with them. Now that we have become so far separated from the Source, it is impossible to return there easily and directly without any support, without material tools or instruments; so it is only wise and reasonable to make full use of the material means we do have. Only, we should not use these aids to dissipate our energies and distance ourselves even further from the Lord, but rather to return toward unity. So it is our goal that counts, the direction we take as we make use of everything the material world has provided. DAILY MEDITATION: SUNDAY, APRIL 21, 2024 Initiatic Science - its universal criterion: work for the kingdom of God Many scientists believe they can justify the deadliest discoveries by the simple claim that they are working for the good of their country, and therefore fulfilling the highest moral duty. Well, as far as Initiatic Science is concerned, this claim is invalid, because Initiatic Science is a universal science that takes no account of borders, and stands far above all forms of limitation. This science teaches what is truly good or bad, moral or immoral for the whole world. So, if we turn to this science for an opinion, it will state unequivocally that behaviour that is good for one country and bad for all others can never be justified. To Cosmic Intelligence, the most important thing is always the goal we work towards, and how we use the energy and talents that we have been given. To the non-believer, it is true that God does not exist. For whether things exist or not depends on us. Take a man who is asleep: even if all the world’s treasures are heaped around him, as he is completely unconscious, he cannot delight in them. Almost all human beings are plunged in a similar state of profound unconsciousness.* Only the Initiates, who are truly awake, see the splendours surrounding them, and marvel. Everyone else has these same riches both within and around them, but they remain unconscious of this wealth. So it all depends on our state of awareness. When we are awake, some things take on reality, and when we sleep, they fade away. It is the same with God: if we are asleep we do not sense His presence, so we claim that He does not exist. DAILY MEDITATION: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17, 2024 Three worlds (the) - the body, the soul and the spirit Take the physical world, the spiritual world and the divine world – or, if you like, the form, the content and the meaning – or again, the world of action, the world of laws, and the world of principles: yes, it is always the same trinity – the body, the soul and the spirit. The spirit is an expression of the divine world, the soul corresponds to the spiritual world, and the body corresponds to the physical world. So the soul lies between matter and spirit: it is an intermediary, a vehicle that transports elements from heaven towards the earth, and from earth toward heaven. Everything that travels downwards or upwards passes through the soul. The spirit can only reach downwards, and the body can only reach upwards, but the soul moves up and down between the two. This is why the spirit has power over matter only by passing through the soul. Observe what happens in nature: the sun cannot act directly on the earth; it needs the intermediary of air and water. Every small child has an angel at its side to look after it, wanting to uplift it, but so often, this task is met with great difficulty because the child is exposed to harmful, evil influences. The guardian angel is constantly present, keeping a close watch over the child, but can do very little on the physical plane, and that is why it is so very happy to see someone – a father, mother or teacher – showing the child the way of goodness and light. DAILY MEDITATION: TUESDAY, APRIL 9, 2024 Nature - how to repay it for everything it gives us We owe everything to nature: all the elements that form our bodies, all that sustains us – water, food, air to breathe, the light and heat of the sun – all the materials for our clothes, houses, tools, and so on – everything. Human beings take great pride in their ingenuity, but where do they get all the materials used to make their instruments, appliances, and even their works of art? From nature. Nature provides us with everything. But the details of what we take are noted somewhere. We have incurred these debts with nature, and we must settle them. How can we do so? With a payment called respect, gratitude, love, and the willingness to study everything written in the great book of nature. Paying means to give something in exchange, and we can do this with all that is good in our hearts, our intelligence, our souls and spirits. We are limited on the physical plane, and nature does not insist that we return all the food, water or air we have taken. However, whether they like it or not, they live in a collectivity, and if trouble were to break out in this collectivity, the safety of personal belongings and even lives could be at risk. Focusing on our personal interests, possessions and families is not the best way to protect them, since there is always a danger that unforeseen disasters may sweep everything away. History is full of such examples. Be clear about this: selfishness has never proved a good solution for anyone. The only worthwhile solution is for each of us to think how best we can help to improve the collectivity. DAILY MEDITATION: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2024 Ambiance - it brings out people’s good or bad side The power of an atmosphere, an ambience, is enormous, because this is what brings out the good or bad side of people. That is why you must strive to be in an atmosphere of peace, harmony and light as often as possible. Of course, these effects do not often last beyond the time you spend in this ambience, but at least the lower nature is reduced to silence for several moments, and the higher nature can flourish. If you keep repeating this experience, one day the higher nature will finally become predominant. Obviously, some people consider that toning down their lower nature is a sign of weakness; they feel much better giving vent to their domineering instincts and aggression – letting loose their wild beasts. Un’immagine vi farà capire più facilmente il processo della morte e della resurrezione: quella del seme. Allora questa creatura addormentata comincia ad animarsi: un piccolo stelo divide il seme in due parti e, mentre queste si putrefanno, lo stelo si alza e sbuca dal terreno per dare vita ad un germoglio che un giorno diventerà un albero formidabile. That is why we need to develop a third faculty: intuition. Similar to the intellect in that it is a kind of intelligence, and similar to the heart insofar as it is a form of feeling, intuition is both intelligence and feeling, but on higher planes. ‘But that is clairvoyance!’ you will say. No, people set great store by clairvoyance these days; there is a great deal of talk about it. But the faculty of clairvoyance allows you to see only the objective aspect (shapes, colours, movements) of the astral and mental planes. You can be clairvoyant without understanding what you see, without knowing how to interpret it. So what good does that do you? It is true that it recalls the death of Jesus, but this is only one aspect. The crucifixion was an historical event, but the cross itself is a much vaster symbol – it is a cosmic reality – and we must understand it more broadly. The most profound and complete meaning of the cross is the union of the two principles, masculine and feminine, and the work they carry out together throughout the universe. From the cross is derived another symbol: the hexagram, or Solomon’s seal, made of two intertwined triangles. DAILY MEDITATION: MONDAY, MARCH 25, 2024 Archangel Gabriel - presides over the region of Yesod The Holy Trinity is placed on the central pillar of the Sephirotic Tree: the Father is in Kether, the Son in Tiphareth, and the Holy Spirit in Yesod. The Father is life, the Christ is light, and the Holy Spirit is love. Each sephirah corresponds to a part of the body, and Yesod is connected to the genital organs. The Holy Spirit has a great deal to do with love, and the saying that Jesus was ‘conceived by the Holy Spirit’ means that he was conceived in a state of perfect purity of consciousness. It was Archangel Gabriel who came to announce this conception to Mary. Why? Because Yesod is presided over by the Archangel Gabriel. Why was Gabriel chosen to bring this news to Mary and not another archangel? This becomes quite clear when we have studied the Kabbalah. Поэтому я не строю себе иллюзий, я знаю, что возможности духовного Учителя ограничены. Его задача состоит в том, что-бы просвещать людей, дать им понять, что они могут выйти из болот, в которых сами завязли, и описать им замечательные регионы, которые их ждут, если они смогут их достичь, но Учитель остается бессильным изменить их вкусы и потребности. Это могут сделать только сами ученики, чувствуя, что только там они найдут свое спасение. Но даже если они смогут почувствовать, этого еще недостаточно. Да, даже если они всем сердцем желают пойти по пути света, возникает третья трудность, самая ужасная: нечто в них, что называют привычкой, будет сопротивляться этому изменению ориентации. Приведу очень простой пример. По телевизору показывают передачу о голоде в Африке: все зрители понимают, нужно сделать что-то, ибо бесчеловечно позволять народу так страдать. Многие будут даже потрясены, и картина этих страданий вызовет слезы на их глазах. Но теперь, если им сказать: «Что вы можете сделать для того, чтобы эти народы имели пищу?», много ли людей согласится потревожить свое спокойствие, оставить свои привычки? Деньги, которые они приберегают для своего комфорта, своих удовольствий, - многие ли решатся использовать их, хотя бы частично, чтобы помочь этим несчастным? They are always in a hurry to commit themselves, to become wedded to the world, and as the world is very heavy and terribly demanding, they are completely crushed under the weight of all that it imposes upon them. They have so much to do, so many duties to fulfil, that there is no longer any room in their head or their heart, no longer one minute in the day for their spiritual life. Of course, they then use these obligations to justify themselves, without realizing that in doing so they are showing that they have been too ready to take on more than they can handle. So, by eating, we can connect with the angels of the four elements – the angels of earth, water, air and fire – and we can ask them to help us to build our physical body, and make it so strong, pure and luminous that it may become a fit dwelling place for the Christ, the living God. By learning to relate to the angels of earth, water, air and fire, we receive particles of a subtler nature, and with these, we can build up our psychic bodies – even our body of glory.
