This movie was wild lol. I had a good time with this earlier today. The storyline was simple and easy to understand which worked for this movie. The crazy action and horror scenes were insane which is the parts I was waiting on. The cast were excellent in their performances for sure and didn'tdisappoint. I love Horror and I also grew up a big Vampire fan so this film was a must for me. It wasn't If a perfect film ofcourse but overall they did a fantastic job with this one. Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead (2024) Movie Review: Don't Tell Mom The Babysitter's Dead is the remake of the 1991 cult comedy of the same name following high school graduate Tanya Crandell (Simone Joy Jones) forging her resume to get a job in fashion company Libra to provide for her siblings after their babysitter Mrs. Sturak (June Squibb) dies in her sleep. The Wade Allain-Marcus directed film is a slightly funny yet derivative remake that has moments of effective dark comedy and charming performances within a film that can't help but replicate aspects of the flawed original instead going in a different direction. While the film does give a better reason for the Crandell mother (Ms. Pat) leaving her children for the summer to go on a two month mental health retreat following a mental breakdown at work, the film has the same issue of rushed pacing in its first act where racist babysitter Mrs. Stuark is quickly found dead the morning after a house party. There is a similar approach to most of the plot of this remake and this leaves the script with only the opportunity to update and add a few elements of dark humor that are quickly relegated to the background in favor of a standard workplace comedy where Tanya lies her way into the executive assistant role for fashion executive Rose Lindsey (Nicole Ritchie) with the help of her hacker younger sister Melissa (Ayaamii Sledge). The first act has a number of surprisingly funny moments ranging from Melissa coming up with the plan of disposing of Mrs. Stuark's body with her knowledge of murder podcasts to younger brother Zack (Carter Young) having a fascination with crows within a story that is predictable and reminiscent to the original. Despite the Crandel siblings Melissa, Zack and stoner Kenny (Donielle Tremaine Hansley) having more fleshed out personalities in this rendition, there is too much replicating in the screenplay for the film to take advantage of its slightly edgier humor that comes with its R rating. The new elements of the script involving the siblings posing as work references for Tanya and the fashion centered plot more focusing on how hip fashion has been lost today. (Rating in Comments)
