It’s Christmas, which (in my opinion), means you can never have too many mirrors, fairy lights, candles or ROBINS! Normally I have these little guys dotted around all over the place but this year they just seemed to fly to the same spot! Anyone who knows me, knows how much I love Christmas and how turning my house into a feast of fairy lights & sparkle makes me truly happy! In my London days, when I worked for @cartier & @officialtheofennell I was always drafted in to “fluff” things up for Christmas, so blowing the decorating budget was always such fun when @harrods @harveynichols etc were on my doorstep! What’s NOT to love about decorating your home at Christmas time and making those you love around you feel festive, happy & valued. My mother was always a bit bah humbug about Xmas (for some crazy reason)! We grew up in a beautiful country house with acres of land & all the toys, yet despite her incredible lifestyle & good fortune, she hated Christmas! Maybe it was because she was an only child and she had no one to share those moments with? God knows! Anyway, being 15 and the middle twin of four (luckily), I was determined to always make Christmas the magical, happy, festive, feasting, extravagant time of year that it should be! That time when you all come together for just a few days and indulge in a lot of things you never normally would, could or should! So every Christmas, my Mother would dig out a battered, old hamper from F&M, which had definitely seen better days & sure enough, the virtually bald tinsel would almost be shivering inside! The baubles were of similar Scrooge like status! Nothing about this box of decorations inspired us to feel excited about Xmas, so one year I decided it was time for an upgrade! Even the family parrot, Sinbad was living in a virtual shoe box! Having procured the use of my mother’s cc, I phoned Harrods, ordered a ton of decorations, baubles, lights, some other heavenly objects AND a massive new Parrot Cage! The following day “Christmas” arrived in snowy Somerset in a little ... OK large Green van & my mother’s parrot has been living like a King in his parrot mansion ever since! It was a very Happy Christmas! x❤️x
