🎧Currently Listening To: A Flicker in the Dark🎧 When Chloe Davis was twelve, six teenage girls went missing in her small Louisiana town. By the end of the summer, her own father had confessed to the crimes and was put away for life, leaving Chloe and the rest of her family to grapple with the truth and try to move forward while dealing with the aftermath. Now twenty years later, Chloe is a psychologist in Baton Rouge and getting ready for her wedding. While she finally has a fragile grasp on the happiness she’s worked so hard to achieve, she sometimes feels as out of control of her own life as the troubled teens who are her patients. So when a local teenage girl goes missing, and then another, that terrifying summer comes crashing back. Is she paranoid, seeing parallels from her past that aren’t actually there, or for the second time in her life, is Chloe about to unmask a killer?

Every writer has a book, or books, by another writer, which they wish they wrote. I'll name one of such books that's the case for me: Private Berlin by @jamespattersonbooks and Mark Sullivan. In my solitary time tonight, the drumming of the rain on my roof cheering me to read on, I chose to fight loneliness by diving into the pages of the book. It's my second time reading this masterpiece. I love how the writers told parallel stories to the main plot, each one holding mysteries of its own. I love how the story unfolds through different viewpoints: third-person voice (all-knowing narrator) telling the journey of the protagonist, and first-person voice for the villain. A ghost of a villain (The invisible man), psychopathic, scary, heartless, and dangerous! I loved the twists in a climax where the protagonist is pushed beyond limits and I kept wondering, now what? How will they survive? I also got to learn a few things about the history of Germany. This book which has a frontispiece of other JP books in the Private series has been ranked on the same level as The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and The Postcard Killers. Unfortunately, I do not have either of the books. But I have, on my bookshelf, The Girl Who Played with Fire (sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), and I hope to soon find a copy of The Postcard Killers at a bookshop somewhere. Then I'll read like a writer, and write like a reader! #thrillers

Exclusive first look at the cover for my upcoming science fiction thriller novel, The Bessel Conspiracy! 🚀🌌🌕⚽🏟️🚝💥 --- In the year 2061, the inaugural, mega-rich Lunar Football League is about to kick off on the booming Moon colony of 30 million people, built around the Sea of Serenity crater. Earth-based journalist Hanson Vavasor is secretly hired to investigate the attempted murder of a prominent politician. He is placed undercover as the General Manager of troubled Bessel Football Club. Hanson's dual jobs are made harder due to irate oligarchs, irascible old flames and irritating officials along with agitation for lunar independence, a spate of violent industrial disputes and the unrest caused by a religious extremist demanding “The Return” of the people to Earth. Can Hanson find out who is behind the murder plot, plan for success with Bessel FC and, most importantly, find out why Picaros Snacks are so irresistibly tasty? --- https://martinobrienwriter.com - - - #WritingCommunity #writing #books #reading #scifi #sciencefiction #instascifi #space #thrillers #coverreveal #bookstagram #kindle #kindleunlimited

This is one of my books that has probably been on my physical TBR the longest 😅 I've done some reorganising and prioritising so hopefully now it won't be too much longer before I finally get around to it, bc I'm so looking forward to diving into this female lead space story!! (I say this and then still ask for book recommendations every other day but 🤫) ________________________________ BLURB: Despite increasing restrictions on the freedoms of women on Earth, Valerie Black is spearheading the first all-female mission to a planet in the Goldilocks Zone, where conditions are just right for human habitation. The team is humanity's last hope for survival, and Valerie has gathered the best women for the mission: an ace pilot who is one of the only astronauts ever to have gone to Mars; a brilliant engineer tasked with keeping the ship fully operational; and an experienced doctor to keep the crew alive. And then there's Naomi Lovelace, Valerie's surrogate daughter and the ship's botanist, who has been waiting her whole life for an opportunity to step out of Valerie's shadow and make a difference. The problem is that they’re not the authorized crew, even if Valerie was the one to fully plan the voyage. When their mission is stolen from them, they steal the ship bound for the new planet. But when things start going wrong on board, Naomi begins to suspect that someone is concealing a terrible secret -- and realizes time for life on Earth may be running out faster than they feared...

Oh my gosh! This was such an enthralling read!! How does he do it every time with his books!! I loved that at the beginning of most of the chapters, there were tiny Twitter posts, news clippings, trending hashtags and even a spotify Playlist!! which made this so interesting and gripping!! Nothing more can be said, if you haven't already read this one, please DO read it SOON!! P.s. I loved that there was the mention of "Match your DNA" from "The One" !!!! The Locked Door by @fmcfaddenauthor ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (Audiobook) Ok, this one was good!! I loved it! The twist totally surprised me, which is becoming harder and harder to do. I know it’s never the simple twist, but I still wasn’t expecting the real twist, only the adjacent one, if that makes sense? Lol You kinda knew something was going on with Nora herself, but I wasn’t sure until the very end exactly what it was. I’m slowly working through all this authors work and really enjoying all of them! BOOK REVIEW: One By One ⭐️: 3.5/5 A thriller set in the woods after a group of friends get stranded with no cell service. One by one the group gets smaller. Check out this new book! Thank you #Netgalley for an advanced copy! Bestselling romance author Sarina Bowen’s debut thriller, about one woman’s search for the truth after receiving a text from her deceased ex. PAGES: 434 PUBLISHER: Harper Books on May 7th, 2024 SUMMARY: She thought it was love. Then he vanished. On an ordinary Monday morning, Ariel Cafferty's phone buzzes with a disturbing text message. Something’s happened. I need to see you. Meet me under the candelabra tree ASAP. The words would be jarring from anyone, but the sender is the only man she ever loved. And it's been several years since she learned he died. Seeing Drew’s name pop up is heart-stopping. Ariel’s gut says it can’t be real. But she goes to the tree anyway. She has to. Nobody shows. But the text upends everything she thought she knew about the day he left her. The more questions she asks, the more sinister the answers get. Only two things are clear: everything she was told five years ago is wrong, and someone is still lying to her. The truth has to be out there somewhere. To safeguard herself—and her son—she’ll have to find it before it finds her. And with it, the answer to what became of Drew. #ThisReadingNurse #TheFiveYearLie #SabrinaBowen #HarperBooks @HarperCollins #NewBookAlert #NewBook #PubDay #Bookstagram #BookFeature #BookishFeature #TimeToRead #UpcomingBook #NewRelease #ReadMoreBooks #Booklist #Murder #Thrillers #MurderThrillers #PsychologicalThriller #SuspenseThrillers #ThillingNewBook #thriller #thrillerbook #thrillerbooks #thrillerreads #thrilling #thrillingreads #thrillingthursday #psychologicalthriller

𝘏𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘉𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘈𝘳𝘦 by Jeneva Rose Format: Hardcover Genre(s): Domestic Thriller Rating: 🌕🌕🌕🌑🌑 After their mother’s death, three estranged siblings reunite in their small Wisconsin hometown to sort through their parent’s belongings. Beth, the oldest, has never left home; Nicole struggles with a serious drug addiction; and Michael moved away and hasn’t been home in seven years. While cleaning, they stumble upon a VHS tape from the summer of 1999 and decide to relive their childhood by watching the tape. However, their nostalgia turns to shock when they discover footage of their father, bloodstained, making a pact with their mother to bury a dark secret forever. With this newfound knowledge, can they forget about the past, or will they dive deeper into their parents’ pasts?   With such an amazing premise, I’m disappointed with how underwhelming this book was for me. While the family dynamics were enjoyable and relatable, the story moved slowly, and was too predictable - there weren’t a lot of surprising twists and turns. The story is also told from four POVs and with such a short book, those POVs could have been condensed to one or two characters.   It’s a quick book with an interesting storyline, but this one was just okay for me. If you’re looking for a short thriller centered around sibling dynamics, tense situations, and dark family secrets, you may enjoy this more than I did! - Meghan

Book 35 in 2024! I Didn’t Do It by Jaime Lynn Hendricks ⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Blurb: Murderpalooza, the premier thriller writers conference, is meant to be an exciting celebration of the genre and its preeminent writers. But when bestselling author and industry favorite Kristin Bailey is found dead in her hotel room, four rival authors—a midlister, an egomaniac, a has-been, and a newbie—also get targeted by an anonymous social media account and wonder if they’re next. First, they find themselves bonding to try to find out who’s behind it. As the account taunts them, it slowly reveals secrets that each of them have connected to Kristin—secrets that make them a suspect in each other’s eyes. Soon, they are turning on each other and silently accusing each as a killer. With time running out until the awards ceremony where the social media account has promised a big reveal, the only thing they know for sure is that no one is better at both creating and solving a mystery than the people who write them for a living. My opinion: This would have been 4 stars except for the terrible ending. The book had tons of twists and turns, backstabbing, and a really cool premise (murder at a murderpalooza thriller event). Prior to the ending, I was hooked and guessing the entire time. The book did drag on a bit at times, which was why it would have been 4 stars. The ending was absolutely absurd, maddening, and pointless. #thrillerbooks #mysterybooks #ilovebooks #bookreviewer #bookobsessed #igreads #instaread #bookworm #amreading #thrillers #readmorebooks #bookworms #bookishlife #booksofinsta #readersofinsta #greatreads #readingislife #whattoread #bookaddicted #greatbooks #bookstoread #tbr #bookstagrammer

The Family Upstairs by Lisa Jewell. This was not what I expected as I went into it blind, and maybe I should have read a little more about it to set my expectations. This was more of a suspense story, and I thought it was Thriller. I sometimes wondered how this whole thing would come together as I could not understand how these characters are connected. In the end, you find out, but I wish I had known earlier; I would have enjoyed it more. I have been enjoying Lisa Jewell’s recent books and can’t wait to check out more, but this one is in the middle for me. You can’t ask a dead man who pulled the trigger. Ken Lussey’s new novel ‘A Tangled Web’ is a fast-paced contemporary thriller set in northern Scotland. . The elusive Hermit’s Castle at Achmelvich on the west coast of Sutherland is visited by the book’s two central characters. This remarkable concrete folly was built in 1950 and is sometimes known as Europe’s smallest castle: though it’s a castle in name only. . Find out more and buy the Kindle edition of the book on our website: www.arachnid.scot . Callum Anderson returns to north-west Sutherland to help local GP Jenny Mackay investigate the death of her husband. The authorities say he committed suicide but she’s convinced he was murdered. . As an accountant and a councillor, Iain Mackay was an upstanding pillar of society. Or was he? Callum soon discovers that Iain lied to everyone who thought he loved them: especially his wife and his daughters. He was also a philanderer, a blackmailer and thoroughly corrupt. The possible motives for both murder and suicide begin to mount. . What Callum discovers puts his fledgling relationship with Jenny under real strain. But that becomes the least of their problems when they come up against people who have already killed and would have no qualms about killing again. . #scottish #books #bookstagram #writersofinstagram #writingcommunity #author #writer #thrillers #policescotland #inverness #dornoch #lairg #croickchurch #culkeindrumbeg #sarclet #ullapool #westerross #sutherland #achmelvich #kylesku #kinlochbervie #oldshoremore #clootiewell #lochinver #mysterybooks #murder #murdermystery #scotland #arachnidpress #kenlussey

Which series do you wish you could read again for the first time? ✨📖 I’d LOVE to read any of the SJM books again for the first time, especially ACOTAR! I had no idea how much I would love that world 🥹 the series also introduced me to the romantacy genre and I’ve had so much fun with it ever since! The Crescent City series was such a change of pace for me as well and I really enjoyed the mix of urban fantasy with the more typical fantasy elements. And then Throne of Glass destroyed me emotionally about 10 times and I’ll never recover 😂 I just finished the latest Riley Sager book Middle of the Night and I have some thoughts 🙈😂 I’ll post a review soon! 📚RESEÑA 📚 "DELITO" . . . . . #bookstagramm #booksbooksbooks #newpost #lovephotography #lovebooks #bookstagrammer #comunitybook #lectura #leeresvivir #comunidadlectora #phtography #thrillers #reseñasdelibro #cooffee #cafeyletras

I’m not a supernatural horror fan. I like the shocking, dark, violent, and disturbing. A book that has me saying out loud, “Wow. That’s messed up.” It takes a lot to shock me in a book. And when an author has done that, I’m going to tell you about it.

LUGAR ERRADO, HORA ERRADA - GILLIAN MCALLISTER . . . NOTA FINAL: 4,5⭐ . . #minhasleituras #lugarerradohoraerrada #thrillers #livrosdesuspense #bookstagram #dicadelivro #tagineditos #taglivros

Book Review The Institution by Helen Fields Dr Connie Woolwine and Brodie Baarda are on the case to find a killer who did an unthinkable crime. However, the killer just happens to be in a high security institution. Connie and Brodie have to go undercover as the killer can't know that they are on the trail. The only thing is... was it an inmate, or was it a member of staff that was capable of such a cruel act of violence. This is a really nicely paced thriller that has you second-guessing. I only figured out a tiny part of the puzzle! There are moments in this story where I was really invested and needed to know what happens next as the tension ramps up and both Connie and Brodie soon find that they can't trust anyone and they might be being hunted. It was well written and kept my attention throughout. 4.5 stars! #helenfields #theinstitute #thriller #thrillerbooks #thrillers #bookreview #thrillerbookreview #bookrecommendations #bookworm #bookcommunity #reading #readingthrillers

I think I have a bit of a difference of opinion on this character 🫤 She seems to be so fixed on being good and helpful when in most cases she is the opposite. Lots of poor decision making and very naive for a 30 year old with a difficult life. Almost feels like her poor decisions are a way to escape… I do like how the book goes between 30 year old and 66 year old Janna - the before, during and after. #tandamcollective #letmeinreadalong #reading #readingtime #letmein #bookstagram #bookloversofinstagram #readalongquestions #clairemcgowanmarathon #readalong #booklover #thriller #thrillers #thrillerbooks #thrillerbooksaddict #thrillerbookstagram #thrillerbookslover #reaction #bookreaction @omcbookclub @tandemcollectiveuk @clairemcgowanwriter

“This book had me on edge throughout!” Thank you, @groundedinreads! Out on June 4! Posted @withregram • @groundedinreads 🥾Book Review 🥾 📖 Follow Her Down ✍️ Victoria Helen Stone 🗓️ June 4, 2024 ➡️Swipe for synopsis This is an awesome new thriller buzzing around @thrillerbookloversthepulse that’s not to be missed! This book had me on edge throughout! It weaves two crimes separated by time but connected by Elise. Set near Lake Tahoe, Elise has spent years trying to pull her life together after her sister was murdered. When Elise’s ex is found dead, new information comes to light that may be connected to her sister. I really enjoyed the atmospheric setting since I’m a nature lover. It seemed perfect for someone like Elise who was rebuilding herself as well as the intrigue of the crimes. I loved the red herrings and twists in this book! I never knew what to expect and that kept me fully engaged! Nobody Knows But You by Anica Mrose Rissi Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This one is a YA summer camp thriller. It's told in a way unique way through letters, news updates, interviews/statements and texts. I loved that! I finished this one in two sittings. It reminded me A LOT like The Last Time I Lied by Riley Sager, so if you liked that one then I definitely recommend! This is a great summer read!

Tian is a bilingual British-Chinese script supervisor with a background in editing. He has worked on several major studio features/HETV & over 15 short films, and has over 6 years’ prior experience in the industry working across other departments🎬 As a script supervisor, he is constantly imagining how the footage will assemble into a film, making records about the shots and scenes so that the bigger picture is not lost in the process of shooting. He enjoys working with the script, director, actors, DP, and utilising his editing experience on set🎞 “Continuity on “The Fly” was really challenging! We had to shoot many locations that were physically separate to make them feel seamlessly connected, on top of everything being shot out of order!” - @tianxuart #thefly #shortfilm #director #writerdirector #thrillers #parkchanwook #esea #asiancinema #scriptsupervisor #script

Review Terri Parlato - What waits in the woods ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 Blurb: When Esmé Foster left the Boston suburbs to become a professional ballerina, the future shimmered with promise. Eleven years later, her career has been derailed by an injury, and Esme knows it’s time to come back to Graybridge to help her brother care for their ailing father. But her return coincides with an unthinkable crime. Kara Cunningham, one of Esme’s high school friends, is found dead in the woods behind the Fosters’ house. Esmé is shocked and grieving, but also uneasy. In her dreams, she still sees the man who showed up at the scene of the car accident that killed her mother—and told Esmé he was going to kill her too. Family and friends insisted the figure was a product of Esmé’s imagination, that she was concussed after the crash. But she and Kara looked alike, sharing the same petite build, the same hair color. Could Kara’s murder have been a case of mistaken identity? Detective Rita Myers is familiar with close-knit communities like Graybridge, where, beneath the friendliness, there are whispers and secrets. The town has seen other tragedies too, including the long-ago drowning of a young girl in a pond, deep in the woods. Even within the once-close circle of friends that included Kara and Esmé, Rita discerns a ripple of mistrust. Day by day, Esmé discovers more about the place she left behind—and the friends and family she thought she knew. Soon, shining a light into the darkness to learn what really happened the night Kara died is the only way she can bring the nightmare to an end . . . This is just a WOWW factor thriller! The story is mostly about Esmé which on the day she comes home, a body is found in the woods surrounding her elderly home. The book had, in my opinion, a gorgeous cover. 😍 The book is well written, so it is easy to read. The characters are described perfectly so it is easy to see them. It is a fast-paced thriller with a good story and an end I didn't see coming. So if you want a fast-paced thriller that will knock you of your feet, read this one!
