Conceived as an integrated place of culture and commerce, Huamu Lot 10 boldly responds to its unique urban conditions by re-activating an abandoned riverfront and fostering a new public space. The project flips the equation of a tower, which typically includes an iconic top, by redefining and articulating its center. Three dramatic, cantilevered sky galleries reveal reflective and hammered titanized soffits, broadcasting the program while connecting visually and formally to the pedestrian scale below. Design Principal Jeffrey A. Kenoff says of the project, “The three soaring sky galleries are among the most identifiable cantilevers in the city, each launching out over 9 meters. Their intent is to activate the mid-point of the towers as a means of engaging the pedestrian street, while simultaneously marking the project within the distinct skyline.” Huamu Lot 10 is a finalist in the @Architizer A+ Awards! In 2001 it was partially demolished and converted into an 8th floor overground parking. From the original building only parts of the façade were maintained and were later listed. These facades are significant for the area, as they are some of last remaining samples of the era.
