It is just one of several buildings which comprise the former Quarantine Boat Depot, now under the control of North Sydney Council, which are being turned into facilities to serve the community. In preparation for its new role, this small building has had repair works to the roof, the interior and the impressive old fire door. Artist Bruno Booth has created an interactive installation at the Perth Institute of Contemporary Art (PICA) to give participants a real-life experience of getting around on two wheels. Navigating through the surprisingly difficult course is a chance for people to empathise with the disabled community and the challenges they face every day. This is the Dialogue Centre Przełomy in Szczecin, concealed beneath Solidarity Square, designed by KWK Promes architectural studio led by Robert Konieczny. This unique project has won numerous prestigious awards, including the World Building of the Year 2016 at the World Architecture Festival in Berlin. What you don't see is that the building is part of the square, so when you walk on it, you are actually walking on its roof. Dies stellt eine Gefahr für alle Verkehrsteilnehmenden dar! ⚠️ Wir fordern daher die Streichung der Worte "außerhalb geschlossener Ortschaften" aus der StVO § 33 Punkt 3., um die Verkehrssicherheit zu erhöhen. Damit reduzieren wir Ablenkungen im Straßenverkehr. Since 2018, we’ve worked with the Broomfield Town Square Alliance to envision a new urban development that will provide the City and County of Broomfield, Colorado with the space to gather and connect that residents have long desired. Integrating retail, restaurant, residential, commercial and civic uses with a dynamic piazza and a recreational lake, and embedding them within a park-like setting creates a unique destination unlike anything currently found along Colorado’s Front Range. We are closing out this year’s World Landscape Architecture Month (WLAM) with the success story of 1900 Broadway–a vibrant testament to community collaboration and urban renewal right in the heart of downtown Redwood City. In partnership with RWC Parks and Recreation, we embarked on a journey to create an inviting urban plaza at the bustling intersection of Broadway and Main. Recognizing the importance of preserving the downtown core's essence while fostering growth, our team facilitated multiple engagement sessions to ensure our design seamlessly integrated with the city's vision. It didn't stop there–we also joined forces with a dedicated Art subcommittee to infuse the space with creativity and public benefit. Together, we sculpted a dynamic plaza featuring a synthetic turf area, perfect for seasonal events like winter ice rinks and summer farmers markets. Complete with bicycle facilities, captivating art installations, and a soothing water feature surrounded by majestic Red Oaks, every element was meticulously curated to enhance the community experience. Glow Up The Kurilpa bridge in vivid red spreads the warm glow across the lower portions of adjacent buildings as the sun reaches ever closer to the horizon in the morning twilight❤️ Brisbane certainly is enjoying a boom in new builds lately, and it's not just the central CBD that is growing ever upward, so too are the fringes as seen here ⬆️ The new 38 storey commercial tower under construction at 205 North Quay has been touted as representing "what it should mean to live and work well in the subtropics." In a now-familiar design to locals, the tower will feature a ground level urban plaza, dedicated to 100% public use, along with the creation of a new laneway to enable direct access from North Quay to Herschel Street. This plaza will have a wide, seemingly suspended grand stairway leading up to a new riverside restaurant, with the building lobby raised two floors, over the restaurant, to allow access to river views as well as release the ground floor to encourage public access and use. It is proposed that the façade will feature bespoke gold-coloured elliptical sun-shading devices on the North West and South East facades to provide horizontal and vertical sun shading - thus reducing the reliance on airconditioning and heating, whilst providing ample natural light within☀️ It is such a breath of fresh air (literally) when architects utilise modern construction techniques to allow both residential and commercial towers to have open to the air, shady and green public realms incorporated into the lower levels🌿🌳 Examples already able to be enjoyed are 443 & 480 Queen Street, Heritage Lanes on Ann Street, plus the soon to open incredible green spaces of the Queen's Wharf development😀 This sort of forethought is making Brisbane even more liveable with every new build👌 Have yourselves a very happy hump day everyone🙏 #sunrise #bridgesofinstagram #cbd #brisbanedevelopment #cbusproperty #officetower #greenstarrating #towers #bridgesofbrisbane #newbuilding #publicspaces #pedestrianfriendly #liveablecity #loveyoubrisbane #cleverdesign #sunrisecolour

✈️ We’ve recently been in #Barcelona for an exciting reason! We had a meetup with the powerful women of the #Mediterranean #network of #feminist #urbanplanners, inspired and organised by @collectiupunt6 ! 🌊 Col·lectiu Punt 6 is a Catalan collective of feminist #architects, #sociologists, and urbanplanners who came up with the idea of creating a Mediterranean Network of feminists and collectives in the field of urban planning. This network will work mainly with #women and other #vulnerable groups from an intersectional perspective. #Housing_crisis, #social_injustice, #racism, and lack of #safety for women in #publicspaces are just some of the aspects of our focus in the wider Mediterranean area. The network seeks to be a space where feminist urban planners can share spaces of: #activism, #capacitybuilding, share experiences, mutual #support, #dissemination, and #research mentoring. ✨️ During our meeting in Barcelona, we discussed women’s challenges and critical feminist issues in the Mediterranean. We also got inspired by local initiatives of collective housing projects, such as La Borda and La Morada, that made us rethink the ways we want to live together in our cities. 🏘 @bordacoop is a #housingcooperative in #grantofuse in Sants neighbourhood of Barcelona. It is self-organized by its users to access decent, #nonspeculative housing that places its use value in the centre, through a collective structure. The idea of a housing cooperative was born in 2012 as a project of #CanBatlló driven by the community in the process of recovery of the industrial premises and cooperative fabric of the Sants neighbourhood of Barcelona. 🌈🏘 @lamoradacoop is a feminist cooperative housing project located in the Roquetes neighbourhood (periphery of Barcelona), driven mostly by bowlers, trans people and other dissident identities. Along with the process of promoting their building, they are experimenting with the creation of a feminist sustainable community and #solidaritybased model of life. 💥 Inspired by numerous initiatives, spaces, and interventions, we join our feminist visions and will be working towards making a positive impact in the Mediterranean and beyond!

I had a 3 hour timeframe to check out the #Odense #cyclingnetwork and it blew me away. As it first started focusing on cycling in 1895, calls itself Denmark’s #CyclingCity and it’s easy to see why with over 330 miles of well designed and connected #bicyclenetwork serving its 200k+ residents. The network is similar to Copenhagen’s with one-way #protectedbikelanes but is different in some regards with off street grid #multiusepaths connecting key destinations in the old city center with some on unique paving patterns.
