Don't you just hate it when you see a cute dog video or someone training their dog and you're just about to follow them when you notice they are using a collar that administers electric shocks to their dog or a collar with metal spikes pointing into their dog's neck? Dogs deserve better. Beaux knows this, and all 50kgs of him are judging these people. #justnope #banshockcollars #banprongcollars #traindogsdonthurtdogs

Prong collars, also known as pinch collars, are controversial tools used in dog training that have been widely criticized by animal welfare organizations and professionals. These collars consist of metal links with prongs that can cause discomfort, pain, and potential injury to dogs when pulled or jerked. The use of prong collars has been condemned due to the potential for physical harm, as well as the negative impact on a dog's emotional well-being and trust. Here are three reputable sources that provide further information and condemn the use of prong collars in dog training: 1. American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior (AVSAB): The AVSAB strongly opposes the use of punishment-based training methods, including prong collars. They emphasize the importance of positive reinforcement techniques in promoting the well-being and behavioral health of dogs. [Source: https://avsab.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Punishment_Position_Statement-download_-_10-6-14.pdf] 2. The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS): The HSUS advocates against the use of prong collars, highlighting the potential for physical and psychological harm they can cause to dogs. They provide alternative, humane training methods that focus on positive reinforcement and building a trusting relationship with the dog. [Source: https://www.humanesociety.org/resources/why-you-shouldnt-use-prong-collars] 3. American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA): The ASPCA discourages the use of prong collars, emphasizing that they can cause pain, fear, and aggression in dogs. They promote positive reinforcement training techniques as a more effective and humane approach. Heheee ...I swear, all I did was ask for his position on using prong collars in his training business! Me thinks he dost protest too much ..hmmm? Do ya' think it's because he knows it's wrong but, he can't stop or he is battling the idea he has been wrong for so long? This is why REGULATION of this "whatever works" wild open plains industry would qualify knowledge, set standards on methods and tools and force guys like this btltraining NPD suffering Asshat to find another job he can project his Alpha-ness at. I'm bettin' he would physically fight someone for questioning his training methods to his face and believe he proved his point by doing so! 👀 Kai has been doing AMAZING in his training lately and I'm so so so proud of him!! For anyone that doesn't know, Kai is a people reactive dog and is a Presa Canario. The reason I mention these things is because they're often the main reasons for trainers using aversive methods and tools. I'm training Kai using R+/FF (positive reinforcement/fear free) methods and it's working very well. I've been told, as an R+ trainer, that I'm out of my depth with Kai. That reactivity cannot be curbed without the use of ecollar, prong collars, choke chains, etc. Kai's existence proves all of that to be false. Dominance theory, along with punishment based methods (balanced/compulsion training), was debunked 60+ years ago and proved to be completely unnecessary. If we can train dogs without fear, intimation, discomfort, pain and physical force, then why not do just that? 👀 #trainwithoutpain #dogtraining #rplus #reactivedog #forcefree #fearfree #nopunishmentneeded #nobaddogs #nobreedneedsaheavyhand #banprongcollars #trainwithoutfear #rplusdogtraining #ecollarban #noprongnoshocknochoke #reactivedogsaregooddogs

❌ Steer clear of trainers who try to tell you that certain breeds need a heavy hand. It's simply BS. ♥️ All breeds can be trained successfully using positive reinforcement. ❌ Shock, choke, and prong collars are not humane tools. Neither are slip leads. 🐾 Scientific studies have proven that aversive techniques increase fear, anxiety and aggression. They promote learned helplessness and are not effective at eliminating problem behaviors. They damage your relationship with your dog and impair their ability to learn. 🐾 Dogs trained with humane methods have a low rate of behavior concerns, compared to those trained with aversive methods, according to the American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior. 😢 Humane trainers are called in to clean up the mess left by aversive or balanced trainers ALL THE TIME. 📢 It is time to call them out on their techniques. They are abusive and ineffective. Dogs and their people deserve much better! 👍🏼 Please share to promote humane dog training. #nodogneedsaheavyhand #aversivefree #humanedogtraining #moderndogtraining #positivereinforcement #positivereinforcementdogtraining #positivereinforcementtraining #ethology #positivereinforcementtrainer #positivereinforcementworks #trainwithkindness #bekindtoanimals #workingbreeds #nonsportingdogs #banshockcollars #banprongcollars #banchokecollars #stophurtingdogs

🙋‍♀️ Ask any questions about these 5 things in the comments and I’ll answer. 🐾 Age appropriate socialization basically means socializing puppies in a safe way before they are fully vaccinated. 🐾 Socialization doesn’t just mean dog-dog. It’s means different sounds, new locations, new surfaces, other animals, strangers, and body handling. ❌ And socialization does not mean housemates and litter mates! That is a common mistake people make. 🐾 The critical socialization period is between 3-12 weeks old in puppies. This is why breeders must start this process and you must socialize before fully vaccinated. The critical period is considered over by 16 weeks, some believe it ends sooner! 🐾 Leading behavior and veterinary experts recommend starting after the first vaccine. However, you wouldn’t bring your puppy who isn’t fully vaccinated to a public park where it isn’t clean, and you don’t know if other dogs there are vaccinated. That’s risky! ✅ But you can carry your puppy. Or you can go to a friend’s house who has a fully vaccinated dog. Or join a professional puppy class that requires proof of the first or second vaccine. 🐾 Be safe, but definitely don’t wait until your puppy is fully vaccinated before you start exposing them to life outside the home. I see soooo many dogs develop behavior issues due to lack of early socialization. These issues are slow to improve and are preventable. ♥️ Reach out for help. We allow very young puppies to attend our classes in their guardians arms. This is safe exposure until they’ve received our required vaccines. #undersocialized #puppysocialization #letdogsbedogs #dogbehavior #dogbehaviour #dogadvice #responsiblebreeders #saynotopuppymills #saynotopuppydealers #saynotopuppyfarms #aversivefree #dominancetheoryisdead #banshockcollars #banprongcollars #banchokechains

This A-hole is Tom. Waking up one morning still tired from the previous days' street hustling, Tom must have thought: What can I do that uses my street smarts, doesn't require too much learnin' or licenses or, permits...an unregulated biz! I'll be a DOG TRAINER! No..even better, Canine educator! AMERICAs Canine Educator!! So, Tom made a big cardboard sign, stood in a park and found his made up "Behavioral" B.S, brutal often abusive methods seemed to really click with some...like minded....people with Dogs. EVERYONE wanted a "fast fix" to common Dog ..problems! and willing to pay for it!! An insta-tok-face frenzy later blowing his own -Horn-o-Plenty- o-shit, a sad wannabe journalists needing a "feel good" story saw Tom and without any background or research into Tom, nor his abusive, myth based methods convinced her editor to do a story on this "self taught" street hustler - to- AMERICAS Canine Educator! story in their popular fading print magazine. Yes, Tom with 0 education, formal nor otherwise, No qualifications nor certifications in canine behavior, training or any modern, science based factual education beyond his own Dunning-Kruger limitations, has made it to the...top. A big thank you to the PPGA, Pet Professionals Guild of Australia for all the hard work they do to promote force and fear free animal training. The message is getting through: prong collars are now banned in 2 states 🎉 It is sad to see balanced trainers using scare tactics such as a prong collar can give you control over your large breed dogs. Why, why inflict pain if you can go about it in a kind and ethical way? Don’t be fooled by their words, training your dog with aversive tools is not getting to know your dog, it damages the relationship and trust that your dog has with you. I am proud to be part of the movement to change how we see our dogs, aversive training is so 1950’s, let’s all be progressive and join the world wide shift in the way we work with our dogs.

Spending time with this rescue beauty. I’m only 5ft 3 and I don’t need to use any training techniques that aren’t positive based. He walks like a dream. Its no coincidence that people who use physical punishers like prong and shock collars, leash checks, alpha rolls etc in the name of "Training" also see the world as a harsh, cruel place that only the "tough" can survive in or, are stuck in confirmation bias loops that see Dogs as simple animals who only understand the most base of emotions ie: fear, pain. This world view directly influences their methods of training /handling that they inherently transfer onto animals or even people that question their beliefs. Using Positive Punishment /physical punishment INHIBITS learning and retention of new information! Using all 4 quadrants of "learning" is NOT necessary! Its not a thing you know and no one else understands how to use...its not used by educated professionals because it causes more harm than good. It ruins the Human-Dog relationship and sure as shit does not make a Dog "respect" you! THINK: Why would so many people and organizations be against the use of Positive Punishment if it was just a matter of "Training style" or a simplified method of "teaching"? The world is only what you make of it! Yes, life can be harsh and definitely cruel but, making a Dog fearful or "respectful" of the human "Alpha" to better survive in this cruel world is NOT what training is about! Its not your job nor duty to decide how a Dog must live or what it has access to without your permission. Your -Fight or flight - view of the world is due to either how you were raised or genetics. Yep. The part of your brain that takes in and processes new info is lacking while your amygdala is over developed. FACT. -Fight or Flight, suspicious of others, might makes right type of existence is NOT a safe nor, informed state of mind to be teaching sentient, emotional beings. #balanceddogtraining #balancedtraining #balancedtrainingISabuse #trainwithoutpain #thefutureisforcefree #positivereinforcement #positivereinforcementtraining #banprongcollars #banshockcollars #banbalanceddogtraining

Harnesses can be a great training tool for nervous or reactive dogs. When sized right it’s much more secure than a collar. Plus a front clip harness can help give you more control when your dog reacts, lunges or sees it’s trigger. Despite what some dog trainers say the right style of harness can help with training. #frontclipharness #dogtrainingtips #nonadversivetraining #banprongcollars #nervousdog #yellowdog

I sometimes pull on lead when i am over aroused, excited or a bit overwhelmed. Tell me, would you put a collar on me that digs sharp points in to my neck if I pull? To the point of harming me. No!!!??? Why? Because I’m cute right!!??? So why do it to a German Shepherd, Malinois, staffy or any other breed? #banprongcollars #notoprongcollars
