In its delicate expression, a portrait of our Café Racer handlebar emerges. Its predominant feature is its lightness, yet it also boasts extreme load-bearing resistance. Crafting just one requires two full days of meticulous work. Each wooden slat is handpicked by our skilled artisans, who carefully observe its grain and chromatic nuances to pair them in a dance of contrasts or harmonious shades. After the bonding phase, each Café Racer handlebar undergoes CNC machining to sculpt its distinctive sinuous form. Following this step, we patiently await the wood drying process. We’ve fallen in love with the ritualistic process that defines the production of our wooden handlebars. There’s no hastier method. It demands reverence for the material they’re crafted from. It’s be a little while since we got to fire up the mouse hand but over the last few months we’ve been supporting @fiftyonebikes with the C&G development for their new road bike SIKA. Pronounce it like “See Car” but you’re from Boston 😂. The project was pretty high velocity and we turned out a graphic package, logo treatment and coordinated sample decals in a very short amount of time. Today, we unveil one of the bespoke details created specifically for The One Azzurra: the graphic interplay of three engraved lines in Blue, Red, and White, paying homage to the three stripes adorning the hood of the Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta Competizione. The circle in the center of the engraving is also a nod to the iconic white circle, a hallmark of racing inspiration found in the configuration of the 250 GT SWB Berlinetta. The chosen colors are not arbitrary but rather narrate the connection of this Ferrari with the United States, as well as Ferrari’s friendships with artists like Miles Davis and Hollywood stars like Jane Mansfield. As a symbol of this special bond between the United States and Italy, the 250 GT SWB from the Enzo Ferrari Museum paraded in New York in 2016 for the 30 Million Cars Rally.
