⭐️ Black Star Pastry ⭐️ Finally trying out the famous Watermelon Cake at @blackstarpastry I know, I know, this insta-famous Watermelon Cake had been around for few years now, but I have just gotten the opportunity to try it at the Black Star Pastry branch in Melbourne, located at the CBD area. My first thought when I bite into the cake: “oh wow, this cake tastes delicious!” Despite my hesitation in the beginning because I just thought it’s impossible to have cake and watermelon go together, I now find that this cake may be my latest favorite cake. The combination between the almond dacquoise, rose scented cream, and watermelon was just a burst of freshness delight in the mouth. Because they use biscuit base, the cake isn’t soggy despite there’s fresh watermelon in between. Topped with dried rose petals, pistachio, and strawberry, this Watermelon Cake is for those who love the touch of floral sweetness to their desserts. We also had the Matcha Ceremony — I love the cocoa pastry cup — perfectly crusty, if I may say. It’s not fork and knife friendly, so go straight with your hand. As a Matcha person, the Matcha mousse filling immediately occupied my tastebud. It was just not too sweet with a tad of bitterness that made the mousse tasted richer. The addition of matcha sponge hidden under the mousse made the whole textural experience even better, especially when eaten together with the cocoa cup.
