The 426km long "Hume and Hovell" Track from Yass to Albury (NSW) has a lot of dog-friendly sections. We sniffed and hiked along a lot of places at #tumut #bloweringdam #bargostateforest #tumbarumba #henryangeltrackhead #mannuslake and finished off with a lovely stroll through the parklands at #albury to water the famous Hume and Hovell Tree. Our mum even climbed over the wibblywobbly #goobragandrasuspensionbridge but our paws didn't like that so we took the route through the river. And we found a hidden message by accident #geocaching along the Burra Creek. That's how good our sniffer noses are!!!

Blowering Dam, NSW. I'm on a trip to the alpine regions of Mount Kosciusko, and stopped to admire the view. The dam was completed in 1968. It was part of the Snowy Mountains Hydroelectric scheme. Blowering/talbingo May 2024. First trip with me little best mate, no better place to test the waters than some nice state forest. She had an absolute blast and was so well behaved. First night fever got the best of me and i wasted most of day 2 in the swag buckled. Spent a few hours getting the tin out and having a bash around the banks and drop offs with not a single touch ( typical for me in still water ) but it didn't deter us from soldiering on and flicking lures. Night 2 was great, spent at a second camp site on blowering with a nice feed and an early night for me and dog. Day 3 was a trip into talbingo after a quick flick and quick feed atop jounama dam wall. Went and sight saw at the snowy hydro center, and ventured up to talbingo dam where we intended to launch and decided to pack it in due to decent wind. @snakeheadlures first time out with us, and he's now got a ripper story to tell but I'll save that one for later @jt_n70 and his dad Dave met us out later Friday and unfortunately had to witness my first night fever degeneracy and the aftermath the morning after. All in all a pretty text book run to blowering, got stuck in the Ute, got shitfaced, went camping and had a bloody blast. I'll upload some more photos shortly and some videos later on. the boat finally touched some water after what feels like FOREVER. We didn’t get to take her out in QLD… which was a shame! She was a beaut, no issues, and she loved it as much as we did. 😜🚤 We were surrounded by mountains, it was stunnning in some areas, but we’re not sure if it’s worth the drive. Folks, I need to swallow a bit of humble pie and make a correction regarding my statement about big male cod guarding their nest. A couple of Freshwater ecologists have pointed out to me that the male cod protect the eggs by fanning them to ensure silt doesn’t cover the eggs. They don’t attack intruders or even bite when in breeding mode - they simply leave the nest temporarily, if disturbed, returning when they feel comfortable. I can only assume that all the big cod my mates caught at Blowering last spring were females. Big thanks to those that corrected me and provided a more scientific explanation.
