Music School (@bmusicschool ) who took the auditions of the project choir of the Dutch National Opera (@nationaleoperaballet ) ALL passed it!!! 🎶 They're between the ages 9 and 20, and I am very proud of them! ❤️ They will be in the youth choir of Ellen Reid's (@ellenreidmusic ) opera The Shell Trial Project. The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (@rcorkest ) will play for them. The new opera “Die Judith von Shimoda” composed by Fabián Panisello receives its world premiere today at @bregenzerfestspiele with @wienerkammerchor and amadeus ensemble-wien as a co-production with @neueoperwien. The opera is conducted by Walter Kobéra and directed by Carmen C. Kruse. The libretto by Juan Lucas follows the play Nyonin Aishi. Akichi Monogatari (Tragedy of a Woman. The Story of Okichi the Foreigner) by Yamamoto Yūzō from 1929 in the adaptation by Bertolt Brecht and Hella Wuolijoki. It tells the story of Okichi who agrees to serve the first American consul to arrive in Shimoda, Japan, in 1856 in order to appease his anger about not being able to find a native servant. However, she is ostracized for her association with the foreigner despite being married to a Japanese man. She lapses into alcoholism and becomes a geisha again. Another performance takes place in Bregenz, August 19, and 4 performances follow in Vienna from November 2 to 9. Capital of the State of Vorarlberg (Austria) on the eastern end of the Bodensee (Lake of Constance) at 5 km from Switzerland and 4 km from Germany. The Austrian emperors were also counts of Bregenz. Bregenz has a special urban character because most of the buildings are on or between small hills, thus showing varying levels. Beautiful excursions can be made on the bigger hill called “Pfänder” on the east. Inhabitants of the region of Bregenz have the peculiarity that they live isolated from the rest of Austria on a small piece of territory between a big lake on the west (the Bodensee) and a big mountain on the east (the Arlberg), while enjoying strong connections with Switzerland, Liechtenstein and Germany. The festival of Bregenz is internationally reknown for its operas (eg. Rigoletto in 2021: #bregenzerfestspiele2021) on the lake stage – the largest in the world.
