Back from the vet clinic, Anika is eating in the comfort of her bed. Her big paw had her claw growing into it (as she fiercely and stubbornly refused to let me trim it). And as I was away for almost a month then I tried trimming it and only succeeded with 5% of it whc is virtually nothing. But I did make progress with her other claws. If u zoom in you can see they had to remove it such that it has caused a bleeding bruise. They applied iodine (!) Ouch! But lightly. Thank God. As someone who uses a lot of natural alternatives for everything I was a bit taken aback by the iodine part. Surely I had thought there has to be something far more milder and more natural ( I'm pretty sure in some places where natural healing for pets is *preferred*) there wld be some alternative for this. Anyway to 'stop the infection...' (yes, yes I know the drill) they did what they did. I need to tend to the wound daily. Anika is a brave girl. A couple of times she turned to look at me eyes pleading and all I cld do is comfort her on her cheeks and say soft comforting things that she's used to hearing. Thank God only one paw has this. She's walking okay now albeit slowly putting her weight. Her cat walk is slightly affected. It shd heal in a few days or weeks. This is by far one of the most challenging decisions I’ve ever had to do… My piglet, there are no words in English that can ever do justice to how I feel right now. After I brought you home at 10 weeks old, it didn’t take me long to start to wonder what on Earth I was doing before you came along. Intelligent to a level that shook me and an animal after my own heart from the second you chose me. Having to rehome you under these circumstances and the way I did… it’s like a piece of me fell away. I didn’t expect my health to go like this and in turn leave you without the mental stimulation and reassurance you needed. Some of the most important relationships in my life have also gotten some BIG blows that I can strengthen with time… the same way I know deep down that this is what is the best thing for you, you deserve that every spoiled house cat deserves 💖 I LOVE you, thank you for being the best first pet I could have asked for, thank you for choosing me and thank you for making me feel not so alone all these years….
