Lately I’ve been trying really hard to lean into my memories. Just stopping and remembering. Remembering the smells, the anticipation or joy I felt. I can remember being a senior that last week of high school. How everything was kind of ending but there was so much unknown and new just at our fingertips. I still remember shopping for college necessities and planning my dorm room. The outfit I got at the Gap outlet that made me feel like a college kid. I always love going to new locations and I got to do just that for Sasha’s session 💛 When we walked across the wooden bridge and I saw the two trees in the first picture with the sun coming through I was immediately obsessed! That alongside the goldenrods and the big clouds over the lake made for such a dreamy night. It was another session where we just missed a storm because about a half hour after our session it was a down pour, but the session itself turned out so beautiful and Sasha was glowing throughout it. This session was probably the most all over the place session I had all year! Kharma drove up to Lansing from Detroit area and she completely killed it despite all of the obstacles that kept being thrown in our way. Kharma’s session was right after the super terrible storm we had last summer that took down all sorts of trees and our first location had a huge tree blocking the entrance so we had to walk back to the spots we were supposed to take photos at. Then, when we were at our next location we thought we heard thunder and then these super dark clouds came out of no where even though there was no rain on the radar when we had checked a few hours before 😂 Luckily, we were able to finish at that location before the storm hit and it had almost completely passed by the time we got to our next session! Somehow we will still ended up with sunshine the whole session and Kharma looked like a true model in every photo. Chances are if you have a sibling you’ve uttered the words “Mommmmm!!!!! (Insert name of sibling here) is looking at me!” Or some iteration of that. Maybe your sibling was breathing on you. Today is National Siblings Day - so I guess that means it’s the day we celebrate siblings on social media. Ok, I’ll play along. Siblings are often our first friends (along with cousins.) They are our partners in crime and the only ones who really know our family life experience. (Usually) They can be our best friend at times and our mortal enemy at others. We can talk sh!t about them, but you’d better not!! Personally, I love taking photos of siblings. When siblings are together, everything changes. The smiles are authentic. The laughter is real. Sure, there may be some squabbling, but I’ll capture that too! I love seeing the interactions between siblings, no matter the ages. Here are some sibling photos I’ve taken over the years. Awhile back I pitched my work to a handful of modeling agencies here in Chicago. The very few that I heard back from told me that my work doesn’t fit what they were looking for. After being bummed for a bit, I reached out to my friend @teraohara who gave me some great advice. So I’m now working on building up more of an “agency” style for future pitches. I wasn’t sure how I would like working with just a white seamless, but I have to say, I love the images. I went to the thrift store, and in an hour I found every piece of clothing you see (except the shoes and hat). I even cut the sleeves on the jacket. I love styling for my shoots. Just popping on to let you all know that the calendar opens tomorrow for Class of 2025 and I am so excited to get this season started🥳 Not only that, but I finally am getting to share Malia’s photos 🤩 I will never get tired of shooting in flower fields ever especially when I always luck out with having the prettiest seniors!! We did Malia’s photos at Michigan Wildflower Farm and at her home 🌼 It’s always so special when I get to take photos at someone’s house because it’s such a special place to them and so unique.
