Day 33 of #100daysofhappiness challenge Champion a Cause. So this one gives me anxious feelings. I had an ex who would constantly want to discuss highly political issues in public. The discussion were never in calm restaurants or casually walking or even at home. They were always had in a crowded bar where anyone could join in. I had another ex that never just took your opinion or thoughts on any matter as just that. He constantly had to argue his point. Oh and he even argued when we had the same view point. I have a few friends that I avoid discussing causes with because I’m not going to sound anywhere near intelligent as them and I don’t need the reminder of my lower IQ. Many know that it is incredibly hard to surprise me with almost anything (I’m just that good at figuring things out!) but my family managed to catch me completely off guard! After our family did our secret santa, I stepped outside with a few family members and there was a cart filled completely with wrapped gifts. Naturally, I assumed they were for the kids and even commented, “wow, that is a really nice cart.” I then notice that all of my family members were outside and yelled surprise. I was very confused and even said, “for what?” They had all managed to pull off ordering several items from @clockinclgbt ’s Amazon wish list and surprised me with them all! Not only am I very impressed that they managed to pull off the impossible, but I am extremely grateful for my family and their incredible support of not only my own journey, but for always believing in my dream. When Clock first opened our doors I would regularly take a few moments when locking up for the night and just look around and take in everything that we built. As time went on, those moments became less frequent. I stand here and look around at all the empty space, the millions of holes that I put in the walls, and listen to the silence that absorbs the room. I look at the spot where one of my kids had the courage to come out to his mom that he was ready to live his truth, all of my kids that walked through the front door for the first time absolutely terrified and then leaving with several new friendships, the spot where I stood watching over 300 people gather for our grand opening, the office where I watched all of my clients grow and make incredible break throughs, and the list goes on and on. I cannot thank everyone enough for the constant support who have helped make my dream become a reality, all the hard work that people put in that made this place what it is today, and the lives that have been changed, especially mine.
