3 Tips For Capturing Home Improvement Projects 1. Set your camera up for bracketing. We like to use -2, +2 for the exposure values and shoot a three image bracket. After the session, auto-stack by capture time in Lightroom, and use your favorite advanced editor to blend your exposures into the perfect final image. 2. Always use a tripod! We like to set ours at about waist height for 8 foot ceilings. Keep in mind as your ceiling height changes, so will your tripod height. The goal is to balance your ceiling and floor amount in the image itself. We opt for geared heads to dial in on a perfectly level image and make micro-adjustments without ruining the composition. 3. Don't be afraid to incorporate flash in darker environments. You can utilize a trigger and hold your flash in your hand and point it into the dark areas of the image. This is especially helpful if you are running long exposures rather than bracketing your images. This weekend, @jordansagarino1 and I decided we wanted to give fine art portraits a shot. We decided on some neutral tones and spent a few hours bouncing around with different props, poses, and looks. This shot is by far one of my favorites. The orange glow behind jordan was obtained with a simple RGB Led light, and we used a single light source with a deep parabolic modifier to light Jordan up.
