✨ colors of light ✨ Taking a step back on the new circle portal light the pattern begins to emerge. Inspired by the geometry of light itself that classic sparkle shape begins to replicate as the light recedes in space. Colors blend together splitting into new hues of the spectrum as the edges of shapes terminate. I had the idea of an early astronomer looking into the stars and light optically bending revealing these colors. The wood signifies the supports for this piece creating a pop of contrast. Taking another look at the planar portal the geometric pattern was a really fun exploration in this piece. The outer frame element exaggerates depth with stepped translucent planes and forced perspective. The Central thin element appears to sit in front at its center and recede in space towards the edges. These 2 types of perspective reflect light propagation as you move away from the source. The hero view of Planar Portals With this image the colors really come to life. The inner design has a bold warm focal point with soft subtle differences in color while the outside has a mirage-like effect of greens, violets, and deep purple to reds. To get these colors, light mixes as it passes through layers of translucency. This effect was a happy accident, I was anticipating a more linear segment color composition. As the light emanates a color changing composition occurs with different angles perceiving different hues as if to appear animated. The green tint is actually from blue and yellow filters blending together. Introducing The Planar Portal This piece is one of the most proud pieces I've ever made. Planar Portals represents what I'm trying to accomplish with my work and manipulation of nature to create awe. This piece was made possible with the help of @unitetolight debuting at the gallery gala show a few weeks ago. This piece invites the viewer to be pulled in viewing lights attributes brought to a perceivable level with a floating center and surrounding field of depth. The pieces color shows mirages of many colors hidden within light and form that illuminates patterns of propagation. It feels great to start to share this piece that I've been working on for months.
