I’m so excited for the premiere of @alexanderdiaz.ata film “The Body”. March 21, 2024 at the Performance Garage, 1515 Brandywine Street, Philadelphia, PA 19130. The making of the film is in response to the work in my DanceVisions residency entitled “Building”. In “The Body”, we embark on a journey where the body works as the canvas to illustrate the evolution of identity over time. This film is an intimate reflection on the societal influences that shape perception and self-worth. Guided by the central mantra “the body is not an apology,” found in Sonya Renee Taylor’s book “The Body is Not an Apology”, The Power of Radical Self-Love, the film unfolds as a multifaceted exploration, weaving together elements of satire, realism, drag, and dance. “The Body” is a space of liberation. Where the artist says “yes” to themselves, their ideas, and their creative impulses. In stepping away from the relentless pursuit of financial stability and security, the artist seizes this film as an opportunity to focus on their creative practice, push the boundaries of their art, and invest deeply in the process. This film is not made to be a polished, finished product. Instead, it is a deliberate choice to embrace the journey, fall without fear, and learn from the process. Through this exploration, “The Body” becomes a celebration of artistic passion, a rediscovery of self, and a profound source of inspiration for future creations. #CTSAtakeover! “Dance Visions 2024” opens this week February 22-24. Dance Visions 2024 is the premier annual production from the Department of Dance. Comprised of works by faculty choreographers, the concert promises to present a diverse program of genres. Jadyn Kerr is a 4th year Dance major who will be graduating this spring with a B.F.A. in dance performance, as well as a minor in digital art. She is originally from the Bay Area, and has trained in various styles of dance, such as ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and hip-hop since she was 3 years old. In Dance Visions ‘24, she is cast as an understudy in Professor Cyrian Reed’s piece, “Visually Sound.” After college, she is planning to join a contemporary dance company, and hopes to continue dancing for as long as she can. Мифы о бачате К сожалению, о многих танцевальных направлениях нередко говорят неправду. Зажигательную бачату это тоже не обошло стороной. Сейчас разберёмся, каким мифам не стоит верить и почему 👇🏻 1⃣ Учиться танцевать нужно вовремя. Это утверждение применимо только к профессиональным танцам (например к балету, который танцуют в театрах). Бачату и другие направления можно освоить в ЛЮБОМ возрасте. 2⃣ Бачата — сложный танец. Он не подойдёт тем, кто не умеет быстро запоминать движения. Мы против стереотипов о том, что бывают сложные танцы, которые кому-то не подходят. В «VISIONS» вы можете присоединиться к двум группам бачаты: «база» и «начальный уровень». 3⃣ Бачата — это женский танец. Нет, нет и ещё раз нет. Танцевальные связки не имеют пола. В нашей школе была практика, когда на занятие приходило даже больше мужчин, чем женщин.
Кому подойдёт бачата? 💃 Бачата — это чувственный и нежный танец под яркую, соблазнительную мелодию. У направления есть два варианта: соло и танец в паре. 1. Бачата подойдёт тем, кто хочет подтянуть фигуру и выпрямить осанку. Это произойдёт «само собой», если посещать занятия более 2-х месяцев. 2. Тем, кто хочет развить гибкость, пластичность и увеличить контроль над телом. Для занятий мы рекомендуем выбирать одежду из эластичных тканей, которая не сковывает движения (например: топ, леггинсы, боди). 3. Тем, кто ищет новые впечатления. Заниматься бачатой можно в любом возрасте.
