Spirit of the north by Alexandre De Melas I started photography when I started travelling and I fell in love with wildlife photography. It is to me the most difficult but rewarding type of photography. I love looking for angles and backgrounds to give an unusual view of the animal. Then the animal has to offer the perfect look or the perfect posture. I discovered this pack of Arctic wolves in a wildlife park in my home region in the north of France. The Sainte Croix park is a giant park protecting a lot of European and endangered spieces. Some of the animals are even totally free. They are adapted to cold temperatures as low as -57 degrees celcius and their fur can weight up to 1 kilogram in winter. Their nickname is “the elk’s doctor”because they hunt mostly the weaker elks. They can stay years at the same place and they don’t fear humans. A pack of wolves is very dynamic and social so the photographic possibilities are numerous. I love how photogenic and charismatic they are. When I realized how lucky I am to approach such inspiring creatures I had the idea of an artistic series showing their grace and how mystic they look. This mutation has started worldwide and result in discovering new places such as theaters, wave pools, ski trails, museums, etc. This is the new generation of shopping areas ! Shadows of silence by Basim Ghomorlou I depict the aesthetics of nature in black and white to deliver certain universal feelings. Feelings that a photograph in color washes out. Feelings that every human is able to translate from visual poetry to an introspective understanding of the world that surrounds us: roaring silence, violent calmness, wild meditation. What we see is raw, pure and sensual. It is filled with sadness, fright, and delight. Universal reflections that resonate with every human being on earth. Watching the silent shadows of the desert make you see yourself for what you are. To this day, it is 10 years that I regularly travel in the Iranian desert. It was an experienced nature adventurer who first suggested that I should go in the desert. Together with a friend, we set off, looking for a new nature experience. Back then, it was not photography that pulled me into this adventure but rather the desert itself: this spectacle of nature. New World Symphony; Why and What Cartography of Intangible means to me This series was inspired to me by the fourth movement of the Dvorak’s New World Symphony. We live in a technologically advanced but emotionally primitive world; a world in which living and feeling are so separate that, instead of helping each other, they often create an emotional gap in us that creates discomfort, fears, anxieties and sometimes problems in relationships with others. We saturate ourselves with things to show and we saturate our time with things to do, preferring the easy appearance and the “wow” philosophy. From Healing Hands to Capturing Nature’s Elegy: Françoise Courtin’s Photographic Journey Françoise Courtin is 64 years old. He is French and lives in Bressuire, a medium-sized city in the west of France with 20,000 inhabitants. He is not a professional photographer. He worked as a nurse in an operating room for nearly 40 years. His hobby was classical guitar, which he practiced at the conservatory in his city. Despite his spouse, a photography enthusiast, teaching him the art’s techniques, he did not find time for photography due to his demanding job, family, and music. In 2011, with more time available, Courtin joined the photo club of his city, BRESSUIRE, and continued to learn photographic techniques, editing, framing, and montage.
