11/52 - Flash light Light seeking with @chloelodgephotographer I have a hate relationship with flash light, I really don’t like it. Probably because I only have an on-camera flash, but I don’t want to spent money on something I don’t like. So when I read the theme of week 11 -flash light- I didn’t feel much enthousiasm. I was even thinking of quiting rather than having to post an ugly photo. But as I’m not the quiting kind of person, I decided to experiment with a piece of fabric, trying to create a softbox effect. And I must admit, I like the effect. Names listed below ❤️ Brittney Williams Cydnee Medina Mallory Hoggan Lilian Fustos Miya Fuller Sydney Shaffer Finn Gardner In this painting I sought to find moments of stillness within the constant symphony of the dancing. I call this work, Nocturne of Spirits, because the painting emphasizes the passage of time. The past that leads to now. In the painting there are echoes or “ghosts” as I have been calling them, to show that time has passed, and the moment is gone. Each solid figure is caught in the tableau of motion, not just to showcase the elegance of their movement, but to weave together a dynamic tableau that pulses with life. Every gesture, every shadow of the past, tells a part of a larger story that celebrates the collaboration of different mediums to communicate a human experience. Reminiscent of classic art and grandeur of the Renaissance, each figure is shrouded in mystery. For the painting I took photographs of dancers which I referenced and made them unique on the canvas. I consider this piece to be a choreographed work that shows the whispers of the past in an otherworldly ballet. As light intertwines with the dancers and the “ghosts”, the dark space of the painting becomes a haunting symphony of movement. MEET THE GALLERIES! DIPTYCH @diptych.artspace Diptych is an artist-run space coordinated by curator Lina Țărmure and artist Zoltán Béla, which opened its doors to the Bucharest public in September 2019. Diptych created in its first four years of existence a rather conceptual direction. The artists invited to display come from all walks of art: painting, sculpture, photography, sound, film, installation or performance. They are novel, barely or not showcased at all anywhere else. Among the exhibited artists are absolute firsts in Romania, such as Sándor Pinczehelyi, Micleușanu M., Maria Balabaș, and Josef Wurm, but also artists already established on the Bucharest art scene or art students. In 2023 Diptych launched its first call for exhibition projects targeting students of the National University of Arts in Bucharest.
