1 year ago today I found my wedding dress! So I thought I’d show you some dresses that didn’t make the cut…with a bit of a story of my wedding dress shopping experience - just incase it’s useful to anyone - it’s a huge pool of shops & designers at the start, I felt v muddled so loved tips from friends! (Also, apologies, some of these photos of me are awful - you really don’t think of posing when changing so much!) First, try & do it before I did (6 months before the date) To be fair we did things quite quickly so I couldn’t have looked earlier. And luckily some designers were fine with that, others charge a ‘rush fee’ which adds on a good few hundred quid & that was a no from me! Photos 6, 7 & 8 are from Lauren Francis Bridal in Wimborne which I tried first as it was local. I tried on the brand ‘Made With Love’ & some of these were almost it, but they weren’t quite the right vibe. And they weren’t too comfy and I wanted comfort! But as a shop, SO lovely. Then I went to London & visited 3 shops. Angelica bridal - which was a great experience (pic 3) - & Grace Loves Lace (pic 10) - I realllly didn’t like it there. The moment I stepped in I knew it wasn’t the place for me…I was relieved to leave! It was also my first trip to The Mews Bridal, where I found my dress! Pics 4, 5 & 8 were there too. The lady pulled all 8 dresses I put in my email (even though you can only choose 5) and ‘Queen’ (my dress) was just my ‘if we’ve got time’ dress as it didn’t look like much on the hanger. But it was lovely on! I then carried on my journey at their beautiful sister store in Clifton & I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. They are SO wonderful! I’d also say, get rid of the pressure of the myth ‘you’ll just know’ because I didn’t..I kept waiting for that moment & panicked when it didn’t happen! I tried on Queen, thought ‘huh… I think I like this’, slept on it, tried it on again & went ‘Yes this is it’. But it wasn’t obvious when I first tried it on, which the films make you think (although for some I’m sure it is!) I’m aware no one asked to hear or see this, but I’ve shared it now, and it’s been fun to relive the memory (MY dress is pic 1 & 2 obviously) 💕
