De foto voor de #52frames maakte ik ook op die mooie golden hour avond vorige week. Ik keerde terug naar de plek waar ik een paar weken terug voor de 'symmetrische compositie' een foto maakte van de scheve boompjes. Inmiddels was het bollenveld dus vol in bloei - geweest. Ik hoopte dat de tulpen er nog stonden, maar helaas waren ze al aan het koppen geweest. Dat leverde echter wel een prachtige 'leading line' op, dat was namelijk de challenge van deze week...! Een prachtige lucht erbij en dat dan levert een prachtplaat op.. For the 'Symmetrical Composition' week I shot exactly at this spot too.. When I read this weeks challenge I knew I had to go back there - preferably during golden hour. The flowerfields here in the Netherlands were blooming last week, and I hoped that the tulips were not cut off the plants.. but too bad - this field was already 'gekopt'. The flowerfields here are not there for the tourists - but actually for production of the bulbs that will be sold for planting all over the world this autumn. They cut down the flower at a certain point in order to let the bulb grow. In week 16 een van de leukste challenges waarvan je de hele week overal op zoek moet naar ogen op plekken waar je ze niet verwacht. Antropomorfisme heet dat, dat je in dingen menselijke eigenschappen ziet. Op een rondje door het bos kwam ik "the distinguished Mr.Tree" tegen die naar me knipoogde met zijn hoedje en snor. Weer twee weken challenges van de wekelijkse foto opdrachten van @52frames waar ik nog niet aan toegekomen was om ze hier te posten. In week 15 was het thema Technologie. Ik koos er voor om een uit een oude laptop gehaalde ssd van heel dichtbij te fotograferen. Daarvoor gebruikte ik mijn macroringen, die kunnen gebruiken om een macro te kunnen maken zonder dat je daarvoor een speciale lens nodig hebt. ______________________ “ Techmacro ” For this week I thought I would shoot a macro of a disused SSD hard drive I saved from one of my dead laptops. Week 14 van #52frames was een wat verwarrende. Bedoeling was om de achtergrond centraal te zetten, maar dan weer niet de achtergrond het onderwerp van je foto te laten zijn. Hmm. Dat was even nadenken, maar eigenlijk vrij snel opgelost toen ik een rondje liep langs de rivier de Merwede om de hoek bij mijn zus @anneliesveenhoven1 en dit beeld opdoemde. De veerboot staat in de spotlight van de prachtige Hollandse wolkenlucht boven de rivier. ____________ I was visiting my sister Annelies (also a framer) this week because of her birthday; they live along the river Merwede and during a little stroll along the river I shot this very Dutch scene; the river ferry was just passing by. Vorige week was ik een keer blij met het verschrikkelijke grijze weer. Voor #52frames was het namelijk de opdracht een minimalistische beeld te schieten. Op een van de grijze dagen schoot ik dit trio. 1 Een steiger aan het Alkmaardermeer met de eerste regendruppels van een van de buitjes die die dag voorbij kwamen. 2 een compositie van de schoorsteen van de HVC tegen de grijze lucht en 3 een uitzicht op de polder tussen Heiloo en Akersloot. Geen van de foto's is omgezet naar zwart wit, als je goed kijkt is er nog wat kleur te zien... “ Jetty on the lake ” Went to the nearby lake on a super grey day to shoot alongside the water. It was just starting to rain when I shot this one - you can see the first raindrops falling into the water. The jetty will be in full use I guess the coming months ; this lake is a popular location for watersport and swimming too. No need to edit much in this photo ; the colours were already almost monochrome - but i chose to leave a bit of colour (in the wooden poles) in it. Afgelopen week was het #52Frames thema "chaos". Een van de technieken die gebruikt wordt om een geordene chaos te creëeren is een techniek die door artiest @pep.ventosa is gepionierd en naar hem vernoemd is. Deze techniek is het digitaal over elkaar heen leggen van fotos vanuit 360° rond het onderwerp. Daardoor ontstaat een soort 3D beeld op een plat vlak. Mij leek het leuk deze techniek te gebruiken voor de uitdaging van deze week en ik had al snel een onderwerp op het oog: het trio van (sier) kersenbomen wat vlak bij ons huis op dit moment vol in bloei staat. 10 foto's maakte ik rondom en voegde ze in een beeld samen met toch wel een verbluffend mooi effect. _____________________________ “ Cherry trees in Pep Ventosa style ” I read about the Pep Ventosa Technique in the brief of this weeks challenge. After reading it through I thought that it would be really cool to try the technique for this weeks challenge. I also had a nice subject in mind already : on my way to my local train station I pass along a group of three cherry trees that are in full bloom at the moment. I shot 10 photo's from 360 degrees around the group with the same settings and fused them together in GIMP with a 40% opacity to the base picture to create a 2 dimensional 360 degree chaotic effect. In week 11 werd ik door 52frames uitgedaagd een mooie plaat van een weg/straat te maken, met als extra uitdaging dat te doen met een sluitertijd van 1 seconde of meer. Op een mooie avond heb ik rondje gemaakt rond Heiloo en uiteindelijk een keuze gemaakt uit deze drie: een plaat van een verkeerslicht waarop alle lampen lijken te branden (vanwege de sluitertijd). Vanwege het fietsthema heb ik deze als de nummer een geüpload. De schoot ik bij Egmond Binnen waar de narcissen vol in bloei staan naast de weg en de laatste op een viaduct vlakbij Alkmaar waar de slierten van voor-en achterlichten over elkaar heen lijken te weven. Alle drie gemaakt met een sluitertijd van 30s. “ Traffic lights on the cyclepath ” As a dutch traffic engineer - with an expertise on active mobility (cycling - walking) this challenge was cut out for me! I had a fun evening shooting with long exposures at several places. I thought this one was the best and exemplary too with the cycling and walking traffic light in the spotlight. These special lights for cycling and walking are quite common here in the NL, but I know they are not in other parts of the world. Week 10 was de uitdaging een symmetrische compositie te maken. Ik had al langer deze twee bomen in mijn gedachten voor een 52frames opdracht. Deze week was daar perfect voor. Je kunt deze door de wind scheef geblazen bomen vanuit de verre omtrek zien staan langs de Zanddijk tussen Limmen en Egmond. Vanuit de trein tussen Heiloo en Castricum bijvoorbeeld. Deze dijk is al eeuwenoud, al voor de 11e eeuw aangelegd door de monniken van de Egmondse Abdij om de abdij en de landerijen er om heen te beschermen tegen het water. ___________________________ “ The two crooked trees ” These two trees, shaped by the wind can be seen from miles around. They stand along one of the oldest waterworks of North Holland. The dyke between Limmen and Egmond dates back to the 11th century. and was made there by the monks of the famous Egmond Abbey to block the water out of the Abbey, nearby villages and lands. I see this pair of trees quite often from the train - sometimes misty, sometimes accompanied by the sunset. In Week 9 was het de uitdaging iets moois te creëren door je camera 📸 te bewegen..een van de technieken die je dan kunt gebruiken is panning: dat is meebewegen met je onderwerp, zodat het onderwerp scherp is, maar de rest dus bewogen.. ik leefde mij uit op deze techniek tijdens de ijhockey training van @sytskedeleur bij de @alcmariaflamessofficial ! _______________________ “ Panning at the hockey training ” I was at my daughters ice hockey training and tried panning! Week 8 van 52Frames was de week van de complementaire kleuren. Ik had het idee onze vernieuwde toilet in de spotlight te zetten, die is namelijk prachtig groen geschilderd door @deleurmarianne en in combi met iets roods was dat dus best leuk geweest, zij het dan dat de werkzaamheden tijdens de week dat de opdracht liep nog niet helemaal klaar waren. Dus week ik uit naar een wat eenvoudiger macro shot van een van onze kerststerren. _____________________________ “ Complementary Poinsettia ” Didn't have a inspired week this week.. It is merely a placeholder for not losing the streak. I had the idea to shoot something in our renewed toilet. We painted the walls dark green and I thought something red could have been a cool shot for this week. Paar weken 52frames.. week 7 was het thema 'onontdekt' en in die week vond ik deze geheime tuin in Haarlem met een prachtige baksteen-met-ijzeren poort. Ik bracht m in beeld met een zachte overgang van zwart-wit naar kleur (in de nabewerking gedaan natuurlijk) ________________________ “ The secret garden ” During a lunch walk in Haarlem I stumbled upon this little secret garden called 'de tuin van Jonker' A little green space between buildings with a wonderful red brick gate. Een logische opvolging op de 52frames uitdaging van week 5, waarin een foto maken van beneden naar boven centraal stond was de opdracht van deze week: van boven naar beneden. Ik koos uiteindelijk voor een foto vanaf het perron op station Haarlem wat gedeeltelijk boven het fietspad loopt. Alternatieven waren een foto vanaf een parkeergarage in Haarlem en een foto van het trappenhuis op het provincie kantoor. __________________________ “ Cycle path form above ” Had a nice walk around some high places in Haarlem - but eventually I chose this shot - from the underpass under the trainstation - I was standing on the platform and shot down. I made some 40 shots from there. Too bad I had a too slow shutterspeed set on my camera so all the shots were not really sharp.. Vorige week was ik twee dagen voor mijn werk (congres) in België en had wat overstaptijd op de spoorweg kathedraal van Antwerpen. Het perfecte moment om een foto te schieten voor de 52 frames opdracht van de week: 'shoot from below' ik koos uiteindelijk voor een symmetrische plaat van de koepel boven de indrukwekkende stationshal. Het alternatief schoot ik een aantal niveaus omlaag in het station. Vroeger reed je als internationale reiziger vaak het kopstation van Antwerpen voorbij, maar het station heeft met een aantal tunnels, ook met doorlopende sporen zijn betekenis in het (inter)nationale netwerk weer teruggekregen. _________________ “ A view up the majestic Railway cathedral ” I was in Belgium last week for a congress and had some time between changing trains at the majestic Railway Cathedral of Antwerpen central. I shot this one up to the dome above the central hall. The centrist composition makes it hard to see if this is up or down. “ All I'm offering is the truth, nothing more ” Een iconische zin met bijbehorend beeld uit 'the Matrix' koos ik als centraal thema voor de #52frames week 4: 'scène uit een film'. De iconische film met super sterk verhaallijn en prachtige cinematografie is een van mijn favorieten. Het keuzemoment uit de film waarin de keuze wordt voorgelegd de Waarheid te weten met alle gevolgen van dien (je wordt vrij, maar je verliest wie je bent in het leven hier / in 'the Matrix') wordt prachtig in beeld gebracht in reflectie van een zonnebril. Ik maakte een daarop geïnspireerd beeld waarin onze jongste mijn zonnebril op heeft en ik een keuze maak tussen de rode of blauwe pil (in dit geval een jellybean..) De afgelopen weken 52frames nog vergeten hier te posten.. week 3 was de week van zwart-wit fotografie. Ik maakte drie uiteenlopende beelden die week. Uiteindelijk gekozen voor de meest persoonlijke plaat van een wandeling in het #noordhollandsduinreservaat met mijn jongste twee. Het prachtige pad leent zich uitstekend voor zwart-wit. De andere foto's maakte ik eerder die week, een tijdens een avond fietstochtje in Alkmaar en de ander tijdens een wandelingetje na kraamvisite bij mijn zwager en schoonzus in Kampen, langs de kade lag een prachtig zeilschip. ___________________________ “ The road ahead ” Made this one during a walk through the wonderful 'Noord-Hollands Duinreservaat' with my youngest two. Week 2: 'probeer eens een nieuwe techniek' Ik koos er voor om een macro foto te maken van water en olie, dat elhad ik nog nooit geprobeerd en leek me wel eens leuk. Best lastig om goed te krijgen, want scherpstellen... en een mooie compositie vinden is ook niet eenvoudig, want de druppels bewegen natuurlijk.. het uitkiezen van een leuke foto uit 600 foto's was ook een klusje... Maar echt leuk om een keer met deze techniek te experimenteren! “ Water & Oil macro ” I never did an attempt on water & oil macro photography so I thought I would make an attempt on it for this challenge. I set up my camera on a tripod over a vase of water&oil standing on some coloured paper to create this nice colours in the background and reflection in the oil bubbles. I used the torchlight of my phone for extra lighting. I had 600 shots... It is quite difficult to get it right - not every shot was sharp... from the ones that were this was the best compositionwise. De eerste week van het jaar is voor #52frames altijd 'zelfportret' de opdracht. Ik heb voor 52frames al meerdere keren mijzelf geportretteerd (ook voor andere uitdagingen) meerdere keren was ik muziek aan het maken op die foto's. Deze keer wilde ik dan ook wat anders en daarom dit close-up portret.. Niet heel eenvoudig want mijn camera heeft geen op- of uitklapbare scherm zodat je jezelf kan zien als je in de lens kijkt, dus heb mijn telefoon als afstandsbediening gebruikt. _____________________ Made some self-portraits of me making music so I thought I would choose something else this time. So I thought I'd shoot a self-portrait from up close. Quite difficult - because my Sony A6500 does not have a flip-up or flip out-screen so I had to remote trigger my camera with my phone. Wanted to use a off camera light - but that wasn't necessary as there was a lovely winter sun at the time I was shooting - so no EC.. 'Nog niet afgemaakt' of 'Unfinished' was het thema van vorige week. dat was voor mij de laatse werkweek van het jaar en op weg naar kantoor schoot ik deze plaat van een medereiziger die profiteerde van het feit dat zijn reis nog niet klaar was en zo kon genieten van een boek en een kopje koffie - dat het onaf is was dus helemaal geen probleem. Met deze 'onaffe foto' maak ik wel mijn tweede #52frames jaar af! “ Unfinished - book, coffee and commute ” busy week, but managed to shot this nice view from my commute. Made only 5 shots this week.. Near me a passenger was reading a book with an unfinished coffee.. Because his commute was not finished yet he had some time to read and drink a coffee. 'Kies een kleur', de #52frames uitdaging van deze week had een mooie extra uitdaging: 'laat de kleur voor je kiezen'. Het lot viel voor mij de kleur 'karmijnroze'. Lastig om deze kleur in deze grijze decemberdagen in het wild te vinden. Hele week had ik de camera bij me, maar nergens wat kunnen vinden... En toen kwam ik thuis en stonden er in vensterbank twee planten in deze kleur te schitteren: Een lidcactus die uitbundig staat te bloeien en die ik vervolgens van dichtbij in macro fotografeerde (foto 1) en de prachtige Amaryllis met vier bloemen (foto 2) De lidcactus lijkt net een vogeltje, prachtig toch zo van dichtbij? _____________________________ “ Schlumbergera flower in Carmine Pink ” The colour chosen for me was "Carmine Pink" #eb4c42 . Not an easy one to spot in the 'wild' in these grey december days.. But then I spotted two flowering plants in our house.. An Amaryllis (photo 2) and this wonderful Schlumbergera flower (photo 1) - which looks like a little bird too, don't you think? I shot it with a black piece of paper behind it - but in natural light only. Afgelopen week was het #52frames thema 'Just breathe'. Een zinnetje wat toch vaak tegen me gezegd wordt door een dirigent (goed ademen!) voor een belangrijk stukje muziek. Ademtechniek is sowieso belangrijk bij het spelen van een koperblaasinstrument 🎺. Ik dacht ik laat zien hoe ik adem pak voor een flinke FF passage. Foto is gemaakt met mijn telefoon als afstandsbediening voor mijn camera, die op een statief laag voor me stond. In nabewerking koos ik voor een stevig vignette om de 'ademactie' uit te lichten en de rest wat meer minder aandacht te geven. _____________________ “ Breathe, because fortissimo is coming ! ” As most of you will know I am also a brass musician so breathing in a musical sense is very important! I thought I would make a self portrait of me at the moment I take a very deep breath because a very loud passage of music is coming; I set up my camera on a tripod quite low, triggered my camera remotely with my smartphone; was quite a challenge to capture the right moment and the right look in my eyes - as I was constantly looking at my phone that was on my knee. Eventually I succeeded. 'Hold a light' was het #52frames thema van vorige week. Ik koos voor een vrij letterlijke interpretatie en pakte een van onze mooie lampen uit de woonkamer die een heerlijk gouden licht verspreid er bij. Het was even zoeken naar de juiste manier om zowel de lamp vast te houden en de camera te kunnen bedienen. Uiteindelijk maakte ik de foto zo alsof ik de lamp er in aan het draaien ben, zo kon ik vanaf de zijkant met mijn andere hand de camera bedienen die op een statief stond. _______________ “ Lamp in the hand ” I had the idea this week to work with one of our signature lamps in our living room. It gives a nice red glow and, because it's a LED it doesn't get warm in any way - so safe to touch. I first tried it holding it in front of myself, with the camera on the tripod. Because the A6500 does not have a flip-up screen focussing and framing was quite a challenge and that resulted in a lot of failed shots. 52frames Week 48: Hold A Light For this week I had quite quick an idea for my photo. We have this Dutch tradition (in the end of November/beginning of December) to put a shoe at the fireplace, sing a song and then hope that “Sinterklaas” is coming, during the night, to put in some candy. (And of course it is always nice to put something in the shoe for the horse Sinterklaas is riding). And I don’t know how he does it, but while we are living abroad every year he manages to find us 😉. De opdracht van week 47 was 'Natuur'. Het is overigens mijn 100e foto voor 52Frames, bijna twee jaar vol! Voor mijn werk was ik twee dagen fietsen om de fietsroute tussen Zaandam, Purmerend en Hoorn te verkennen met een aantal collega's uit de regio. Het was wat stormachtig, maar het licht en het landschap was prachtig en overal waren vogels, hier op de voorgrond zie je dan ook een hoop ganzen. Ik schoot dit plaatje ergens tussen Zaandam en Purmerend en die was zeer passend voor de opdracht. ________________________ “ Stormy day landscape with geese ” Was cycling two days for one of my work related projects this week and I shot this one somewhere between Zaandam and Purmerend. De foto van twee weken terug was was is nog vergeten te posten.. en hij is zo leuk. Het thema was 'Bathroom' wat in het Engels natuurlijk ook een toilet kan betekenen. De extra uitdaging was 'public' (oftewel openbaar) Een thema waar ik wel even over moest nadenken, totdat ik op een wandelrondje door de stad mijn oog viel op de vele dixi's. Ik fotografeerde er zo her er der eentje, maar deze uit #Amsterdam was toch wel het leukste: op een middeneilandje tussen fietspad en trambaan en je ziet bij wijze van spreken de gebruiker van de dixi zijn fiets er even naast heeft geparkeerd. Ik heb alleen de kleur van de dixi bewaard in de foto en de rest naar zwart-wit gemaakt omdat het straatbeeld qua kleuren zo druk is. Ik had een leuk alternatief van dixi in contrast met een prachtige architectonische setting, ook uit Amsterdam (Noord) (foto2) __________________________ “ Bathroom on the streets of Amsterdam ” On one of my lunchwalks this week I was struck by the abundance of mobile toilets in the city - mostly near construction sites - and shot some of them. Later in the week I was in Amsterdam and that is where I short this nice streetscene with a blue dixi and a nice dutch bicycle besides it. A vibrant location with all sorts of colours so I had to eliminate the other colours. Ook in de afgelopen muziekweken blijven fotograferen voor #52frames. Week 45 (afgelopen week) was het thema 'Bokeh' oftewel het onscherpte effect in de achter- of voorgrond en ik vond bij een restaurant deze mooie lantaarns op de tafel en de eindejaarsverlichting zorgt voor een mooi bokeh effect. De week er voor (wk44) de opdracht wat creatief ingevuld: ik zocht ná het maken van de foto van een leeg NBK podium, een bekende concertfotograaf (Frances Marshall) als inspirator voor de stijl van de foto. De week dáárvoor (wk43) was de opdracht 'gebruik een statief' met camera op een ministatief maakte ik een mooie foto van een paddenstoel langs de weg. “ Bokeh Lantern ” #52frames_bokeh Was out for a little photo walk around the village with my Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens to shoot a nice bokeh shot. The championships are a music contest between 40+ brass bands from all over the country in 5 sections. I was attending the event as a musician with the Backum Brass band from nearby Castricum - but was also there to enjoy the exquisite performances of the bands in the first and championship sections. Between two of them I shot this of the empty stage ready to receive the musicians of the next band. I thought it was exemplary for my week and I sought for a real famous concert photographer and I really like the colourful and bright style of Frances Marshall. “ mini tripod Mushroom shot ” #52frames_useatripod Had some ideas this week to shoot a cityscape of Amsterdam on the way back from a concert that I gave this week - but it was downpouring... Mode daarentegen... Is niet echt een genre wat me past... Toch maakte ik met en van @sytskedeleur deze toffe agressieve IJshockey-mode foto! Zij is afgelopen weken gestart met ijshocey bij de @alcmariaflamessofficial. Ze wilde dat als klein meisje eigenlijk al, maar toen bestonden de @alcmariaflames nog niet en het is ook best een dure sport... ____________________________ “ Aggressive Hockey Fashion ” Fashion is so far off my usual photography subjects.. and so out of comfort zone.. I was really glad my daughter wanted to help me and she is starring in this aggressive hockey outfit shot. She recently started ice hockey training. She was playing field hockey until a few years ago but then stopped because she didn't have enough motivation anymore and not a really supportive team too. Secretly she always wanted to play ice hockey from a very young age - but this was not easy as there was no club near us at the time and probably the sport would have really been too expensive too. Tja, straatfotografie is natuurlijk een challenge die goed bij me past! Twee weken terug was het op denk ik en van de laatste nazomer achtige dagen dat ik op het monopoly hoekje (op de kruising van Bartelorisstraat, Zijlweg en aan de andere kant van het plein de Grote Houtstraat) van Haarlem deze lekker Hollandse straatfoto schoot. _____________________ “ Street Scene from the 'monopoly corner' of Haarlem ” During a lunch walk this week I stood on the 'monopoly corner' of Haarlem - the crossing of Barteljorisstraat, Zijlweg and Grote Houtstraat - which are the purple streets in the Dutch standard version of Monopoly... Stood there for some time, set my camera on manual mode and took several shots of this very lively corner. Backdrop is the Grote Kerk of Haarlem: an important landmark for the city of Haarlem and has dominated the city skyline for centuries. It is built in the Gothic style of architecture, and it became the main church of Haarlem after renovations in the 15th century. Het wil nog niet erg herfst worden lijkt wel met nog steeds zomerse temperaturen.. ik was vorige week voor #52frames op zoek naar gevlekt 'dappled' licht en zo kwam ik in het bos terecht.. tijdens een rondje door het bos zie je dat de natuur zich niet zo makkelijk voor de gek laat houden, daar is het echt al wel herfst. Ik schoot in het door bomen geblokkeerde gevlekte licht deze prachtige paddenstoel. ________________________________ “ Mushroom in dappled light ” What a difficult challenge this week. Couldn't think of something fitting to my style this week and the conditions outside were grey all week so not really harsh light and shadows to help me... Zo grappig hoe een thema je in een week kan 'aangrijpen' en dingen laat zien die andere onopgemerkt zouden blijven. Vorige week was het #52frames thema 'Rood': en overal zie je dan zo'n week rode details. Zo ook op een rondje door Amsterdam Noord en dan zie je zomaar een bezorger met rood shirt, met zijn rode steekwagen ene winkel binnenlopen tussen twee rode mannequins. Te grappig toch? Even verderop zag ik het marktkraampje, met n rood kleed en rode spullen die werd bezocht door een dame met een rode scootmobiel en op de achtergrond een rode deuren.. ______________________________ “ Red delivery at the red men's store ” Shot this one on the streets in Amsterdam Noord. Had spotted the red mannequins when I first walked by, but on my way back I was passed by the delivery guy with his red hand cart and he walked right into the store; this couldn't be any better moment. 52frames Week 39: Red While scrolling through last week’s album I saw a photo of some Dutch clogs. Bing Dutch and living abroad, I love to see those typical Dutch photo’s. Also it helped me to find this week’s subject for my red photo. By seeing this photo I realized we have some small clogs as decoration. It seems like yesterday we put this clogs on her feet, still to young to put them on herself. Wabi Sabi is een Japanse term die de schoonheid van imperfectie, dingen die vergaan of incompleet zijn beschrijft. Vorige week was dat het thema van weer en week #52frames. Op een rondje door #Haarlem viel mijn oog op deze mooie nok van een 19e eeuwse ArtDeco/Jugendstil achtige woning. Deze heeft wel wat aandacht nodig, maar het verweerde en scheve heeft ook zo zijn schoonheid. _____ “ Neglected Art Deco ” Shot this on one of my lunch walks in Haarlem. It is a row of homes form the early 1900s with a spectacular Art Deco / Jugendstil style. It is a bit neglected and the paint is coming of slightly. De 'Adriaan' van achter verlicht door zonsondergang. Vorige week misschien wel de laatste mooie nazomer week en je merkt dat het geen zomer meer is omdat het ook steeds later licht wordt - inmiddels komt de zon op als ik onderweg ben naar mijn werk. Zo ook vorige week en ik besloot in het mooie gouden licht van die morgen even een omweggetje te maken om langs het Spaarne een foto te schieten voor de uitdaging "van achter belicht". Ik koos uiteindelijk voor de foto van de molen De Adriaan en zijn reflectie. Een prachtige hoge molen die er pas weer sinds 2002 werkend staan, nadat hij in de jaren '30 tot de grond afbrandde. Het alternatief schoot ik nabij het Teylers Museum van de Gravestenerbrug. Was moeilijk kiezen.. “ Windmill backlit by sunrise ” Sunrise is coming later and later these days - this week it was during my commute. It was a wonderful sunrise too - with some fog over the fields also. I made a little detour along the river Spaarne in Haarlem on my way from the station to work. I was really struck by the backlight on the windmill 'De Adriaan' and its reflection in the still waters. Weer twee weken #52frames! In week 35 was de opdracht om je foto door een ander te laten bewerken met een extra uitdaging om dat met een zelfportret te laten doen. Ik vroeg @egbertderuiter om mijn foto te bewerken en dat resulteerde in een prachtige B&W edit van een zelfportret via een spiegel in een geparkeerde scooter op een straat in #Haarlem. In week 36 (vorige week) was het thema 'driehoekige compositie' en ik werd in de ondergrondse fietsenstalling in Haarlem verrast door dit tafereel. De fietser met een mooie vintage racefiets met driehoekig frame stond even te wachten om naar boven de kunnen lopen in het mooie licht. Was nog een hele kunst om de reflecties vande glazen wand weg te werken en het licht mooi in balans te brengen in de nabewerking.. ____ #52frames_editedbysomeoneelse “ Edited by Egbert de Ruiter ” I shot this selfportrait at the streets of Haarlem in a mirror of a moped. The wonderful light came down the stairs real nice in a triangular form and this bicyclist was waiting to go up the stairs with his very cool vintage race bike with a triangular frame too! 52frames Week 36: Triangular Composition Last week I posted again after sometime, to almost give up again this week. I couldn’t find my subject for this week. And then when I was a thinking if I could do some last-minute shoot, the children wanted me to play with them. So, I came to the point where I accepted my streak would be 1 week and then be broken again. Luckily while playing I got some idea and “forced” my daughter that she had to pose for me while I was playing a game with her 😉. 52frames Week 35: Edited By Someone Else Last week @crawlthroughmylens challenged me that it was time again for pictures from my hand. So, here I am again. And what better than the tradition to post the first week (of the year but for me to be back again) a self-portrait (something that, like for most of us, is not my favorite, but with an extra credit and returning again I had to do it 😉). I asked my wife to edit it, and my daughter, @minke_ka (who unofficially is also sometimes joining 52Frames on Instagram) offered also to edit for me. Vorige week was het thema bij de wekelijkse fotouitdaging van @52frames 'Upside Down'. Ik maakte gisterenavond deze foto in het landgoed Nijenburg. Het landhuis uit begin 18e eeuw wordt prachtig weerspiegeld in de vijver voor het huis. 180° omdraaien geeft een bijzonder effect waarbij je echt even goed moet kijken wat je nu ziet.. genomen met mijn #Sony A6500 op statief, bewerkt in darktable ___________________ “ Flipped reflection ” Wasn't particularly inspired this week, but cycled around the village during Golden Hour and had this location in mind; the Nijenburg residence has a wonderful pond in front. I thought the effect of flipping counts as an optical illusion The Nijenburg estate is a summer residence built in the early 1700s by a rich merchant family from the city of Alkmaar in the forest between Alkmaar and my homevillage Heiloo. Ja ook op vakantie lopen de challenges van @52frames gewoon door. Vier opdrachten heb ik afgelopen weken in het buitenland gemaakt. Mijn camera en laptop waren mee, dus op zich gewoon te doen. In 🇩🇪 waren wij voor de zomerweek van het Nederlands Bijbelstudie Centrum en daar maakte ik een dag-ennnachttransitie foto (de EC) van het thema 'Meaningful Location'. Dat was een behoorlijk natte week, dus het thema 'Water' kwam goed van pas.. de foto van die week maakte ik in de Zoo van #Wuppertal, (EC sluitertijd 1/4000s) Daarna reisden wij naar 🇫🇷 en in #Amboise aan de Loire maakte ik een mooie plaat die uitstekend past bij 'Night Photography ' (EC: City at Night). Tot slot maakte ik in #Bretagne aan het strand een rustgevende plaat van een schelp in tijdens de zonsondergang in zwart-wit want het thema was 'Black&White Minimalism'. Weer twee weken leuke opdrachten voor @52frames : afgelopen week was de opdracht 'in het centrum' en de bedoeling was daar om een gecentreerde compositie te kiezen voor je foto.ik maakte deze foto van de indrukwekkende Cathedrale basiliek St.Bavo in Haarlem. Een eclectisch monument gebouwd tussen 1895 en 1930: een mix van neo-romaans, neo-gotiek en Byzantijnse stijl en jugendstil en vanuit deze hoek bijna symmetrisch. De week ervoor was de opdracht 'abstract' met de extra uitdaging 'bedoelde camerabeweging' en ik koos er voor te experimenteren met mijn nieuwe zoomlens door tijdens het belichten snel in- of uit te zoomen op het onderwerp: in dit geval een verkeersbord van een fietspad met een schilderachtig en dynamisch plaatje tot gevolg. _____________________ "The eclectic Cathedral" I was walking through the city of Haarlem during lunch break and shot this shot of the Cathedral of Saint Bavo; which was built from 1895 and 1930 in an eclectic mix of neo-romanesque - neo-gothic - Byzantine and Jugenstil styles designed by architect Joseph Cuypers. It is the second biggest church building in the Netherlands. I thought the centralistic composition was a good choice to show this almost symmetrical design. “ Cylcemotion ” Had the idea to use ICM by zooming this week - and since I bought a new kitlens replacing zoomlens (the Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 DC DN) it was the perfect challenge to play with the zoom.
