The Enfield Community Art Exhibition 2024 Hope opens its doors for the final time this Saturday and Sunday 10am-4pm. Much gratitude to the local community for supporting our brilliant local artists. The objective of this event was to bring art to Enfield, make it more accessible and affordable for people, and to recognise the immense talent in our local area and give a space for their work to be seen. The theme HOPE feels very important now. Hope means different things to different people but collectively it offers a good mental state. Hope keeps things moving forward even if you don’t win or succeed, or if society (or the powerful) fail us. If you feel euphoric, great, but that feeling can quickly evaporate, so to have hope is to look ahead. It’s a steady contender. After a lovely weekend at @arbeitstudios in #palmersgreen I’m buzzing to let you know about the happenings of our penultimate weekend during our #EnfieldCommunityArtExhibition The exhibition is open 10 until 4pm Sat and Sun and we have the lovely @jairafiq painting live at 11am on Saturday 16th followed by the wonderful @amymeime at 2pm. We finish the weekend with @murals.by.lauren doing her clever drawing on old cardboard boxes at 2pm on Sunday. The Enfield Community Art Fair is back in town! This time at @arbeitstudios in Palmers Green which is a really great space, if you haven’t visited before, now is the perfect opportunity to check it out. The exhibition features work from 36 talented local artists, all expressing their own individual interpretation of the theme, “Hope” 💛 There will be lots of live demos, painting and workshops happening (see final pic for details) and there is even an opportunity to purchase some of the amazing pieces of original art for your home. Mother’s Day Weekend alert! 🚨 💐🎨🖼️🖌️ The #enfieldcommunityartexhibition continues this weekend 10am-4pm @arbeitstudios 310 Green Lanes #palmersgreen and I’m excited to share the next set of wonderful workshops and live painting going on: Saturday 9th 11am we have lovely @impressionsbyelise doing gestural watercolour live portraits which you can take away with you! Followed by the brilliant @tloczuss at 2pm who will do an Introduction to Japanese woodblock prints: “how and why they have been made and used for over 200 years. How woodblock prints inspire my art and life. I will show some great examples of original antique woodblock prints, tools used to produce them, and some of my works inspired by Japanese art.” Sunday 10th at 11am we will have the incredible @mollygillart who explores disability awareness in her work and will be running a print workshop alongside some atmospheric live painting by the wonderful @bake_create_connect We will conclude our weekend events with a perspective drawing workshop at 2pm by multidisciplinary @yollie_morph who is a structural engineer and has a stunning photo on show! All workshops are FREE and you can just pop in the exhibition or you can reserve your spot by contacting the artist directly. ‘Amabie’, original artwork I am exhibiting at Enfield Community Art Exhibition (you can purchase it there as well 👀) 🗓 1-24 March at @arbeitstudios 💬 Artist speech at 2pm on 9th March Btw my name is ✨Paulina✨, not Pauline - unfortunately there’s a typo in the main informational post. ‼️About the artwork: Amabie - a mermaid-like creature from Japanese folklore, who prophesies a good harvest or an epidemic, yet sharing copies of its likeness defends against illness. It’s been very popular recently. According to the legend, Amabie appeared in Higo Province in 1846, emerging from the deep sea against the darkening sky. The town’s official sketched the creature - it had long hair, bird shaped mouth and was covered in scales from the neck down to its three legs. Last week was the #enfieldcommunityartexhibition in the @dugdaleartscentre #enfieldtown showcased #enfieldartists 25 artists were selected from an open call, 40 works were displayed, 20% of works were sold, thousands of visitors came through the doors. I am very proud of all of this. I wanted to bring people to see art and help artists be seen. Next time we will secure fundint and prizes. Thank you for all the participants whose work was so beautiful to enjoy; for Leah and the team @dugdaleartscentre for supporting this event; for @enfoodcafe for the reception; for @acegraphicsprint for sponsoring the printing and for @winchmore_hill_local and @enfield_zigzag for helping promoting the event.
