Certainly not as much wall space as you think!! Come and see what else I have on show and catch up with my fellow HP9 Artists at the weekend 10-5 open studio (and kitchen and lounge!). The Enfield Community Art Fair is back in town! This time at @arbeitstudios in Palmers Green which is a really great space, if you haven’t visited before, now is the perfect opportunity to check it out. The exhibition features work from 36 talented local artists, all expressing their own individual interpretation of the theme, “Hope” 💛 There will be lots of live demos, painting and workshops happening (see final pic for details) and there is even an opportunity to purchase some of the amazing pieces of original art for your home. Introducing each of the artists showing at the fair; here's Lucinda Etchell... . My focus is to produce stoneware pieces for the home which are both functional and pleasurable to use. I hope that someone would enjoy their morning coffee from an original, unique handmade cup, but still be able to put it in the dishwasher! Most of my work is wheel thrown, there is such satisfaction in creating an immediate form, but I like to hand build as well. I love the prospect of creating something different every time. Soap dishes have been popular, and have helped reinforce thinking about our environmental responsibilities and subsequently reduce our plastic. . Introducing each of the artists showing at the fair; here's Jane Ostler... . I have been dabbling in pottery and ceramics for a number of years through adult education classes. Now I am retired I have more time (or so I thought) to play with clay. I use the potters wheel, and handbuild some items, mainly in stoneware, but also in earthenware clay. I also take part in Raku firing whenever possible and love the unpredictable results. All my pieces are individual, no two pieces are the same! My work is mainly domestic ware, but inspiration comes from everywhere for sculptural pieces. Although I work mainly on my own at home, I still enjoy attending group classes to share and get inspiration from others. There is always something new to learn. . Largely self taught with some sporadic attendance at workshops and online courses, I've gathered momentum in my art practice over the last three years, creating a body of work based on landscapes and now florals. . I find flowers can express so many aspects of life. There’s so much more to them than a short spell of “perfection”. The busyness and sociability of hydrangeas and their graceful transition into winter; the fleeting, showy beauty and rapid decline of peonies; the structure and confidence of tulips all speak to different sides of my personality. I’ve recently started working the flowers over an underpainting, which can be a remnant from a workshop, a loosely applied selection of colours or a single contrasting colour. Although sometimes nothing visible remains of the underlay, its presence changes the course of the painting and makes the outcome less predictable. A great metaphor for the layers in life. . I'll be showing new work at this fair and I'm delighted to be welcoming the other six artists too. We look forward to meeting you! A big thank you to everyone who joined us at our very first community exhibition- Daastaan-e-rafoo - Stories in Stitches by the women of Rafooghar and turned Kalindi Kunj into the coolest place in town for two days.
