Florida day 5 ❤️ It was an Epcot kind of morning - started the day visiting Nemo, followed by Soarin, cinnamon rolls and Living with the Land 🌎 To finish off the morning we took a trip to visit our pal Figment! Back to the hotel for a quick swim and Darren caught up on the Ohio State football game then back out to Animal Kingdom! Here is a tip if you really care about your straws. California eliminated plastic straws in general. So most of your drinks will come paper straws. We ordered the Jungle Julep from Bengal BBQ, it came with a plastic straw. We hung onto that straw and rinsed it out and reused it. Oh and if you do sit down meal, you can get a soda to go… a refill, helps with costs. We bought tumblers to transfer the soda. Just had to tuck them into our backpack drink pockets. That was a little tricky. Rainy Days, they don’t have to ruin your So Cal vacation. We have done Disneyland in the rain 3 times. The first was rough. Here are some tips… 1. With littles, invest in a stroller cover. Keeps kids and all your stuff dry. 2. Have a poncho or rain coat, and one that covers your rear end. Many of the rides are outside for at least a little bit and the seats get wet. Disneyland does have ponchos, but I don’t think the quality is as nice as they used to be. This last trip (Dec 2021) the ponchos ripped quickly and we didn’t get the replacement ponchos like we had in the past. 3. Make use of the lockers to store things like clean dry socks and a dry sweatshirt. Swapping out dry socks and a dry sweatshirt keeps you cozy for the long day. 4. Consider waterproof shoes. Boots, hiking boots, something to keep feet dry and are comfy for walking. There are plenty of places for hot cocoa, coffee and bread bowls with soup. Let’s talk about one of the very best treats at Disneyland! The Beignets with a Mint Julep. Usually found at the Mint Julep Bar. This is currently closed (as of Feb 2023). You can still find them but at the Royal Street Veranda nestled just next to pirates. This is an often overlooked place to grab something quick to eat. This is a window service dining option. Mobile order ahead of time, and you can get your food quickly. Beignets are also available without a park ticket from the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney. One of our very favorite must eat is the fried chicken at Plaza Inn. It is a huge plate of food. This is cafeteria style dining. You can get double potatoes, just swap out the green beans. We have always shared this plate. When the kids small, 3 could share. This dinner plate and small side salad were shared by my husband and I. Our other big tip… time your meals slightly early. We eat lunch between 11/11:30, dinner around 4/4:30. It avoids helps avoid the meal time crowds. We are all about Rope Drop! This is what mid July looks like in Disneyland. We arrived at the parks at 7:15, went to gate 13,14,15. (14 has a tree in the way of the line, so 13/15 often feed into a shorter line. They start ticket scanning at 7:30ish, then drop ropes into the lands at 8. This crowd gathered outside of Adventure land and nearly all were headed to Galaxy’s Edge to ride Rise of the Resistance. We hit Pirates of the Caribbean, Indian Jones, Jungle Cruise and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with little to no lines. The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is a great place to spend some time as a family. A small slice of nature nestled in Disney California Adventure. (DCA) you can find a cast member with a net full of ducks and they will have a duck race with you. There are trails to walk, rope bridges to cross and much more.
