Instead, the evil fairy Maleficent was never killed and is keeping her and all within her parents’ kingdom enchanted and imprisoned. Even Prince Philip fell asleep shortly after kissing Aurora. . And so, in a dream within a dream, in which Aurora Rose and Prince Philip meet up in the forest surrounding the castle’s thorned walls (after Dream Aurora escapes it), they gather their strength and their weapons (including magic) to try and defeat Maleficent once and for all. . Recommendation: I must be honest; this book was a bit of a bummer at the beginning but eventually became likable towards the middle up to its climax and ending. There were some elements that seemed too rushed, and I guess that would have made this book over 500+ pages like the Harry Potter books so I don’t blame the author. I am finding out with this second book in this franchise that the whimsicality of fairy tales and the sinister elements from horror movies are mixed here and there. I find it okay as it works for its YA audience. Anyway, I would recommend this dark and serious book to fans of movies like “Snow White a Tale of Terror” (remember that cool movie from the 90’s?) but with a sprinkling of pixie dust.
