2020’s Franklyn, Hand Wired 5F11 Vibrolux clone! As per the Franklyn description this is hand wired with Heyboer transformers, Matched 6V6s, 5Y3 and 2 12AX7s. Kendrick Filter caps, Sprague bypass caps, Red Astron tone caps and carbon comp resistors. Amp includes Rectifier protection, Belton tube sockets and adjustable bias. From Swampy to spacey the trem has a wide range of adjustments. Amazing 12 watts of clean headroom into a sweet overdrive. This amp takes pedals well but doesn’t need them to offer an amazing tweed tone that can only be found in the Harvard/Vibrolux series amps! Housed in a full dovetail void free pine cab, covered in aged tweed with Birch baffle and back panels it looks almost as good as it sounds. It fits. Not ultra perfect. The heights of the thimbles are the same. The pick guard is not setting flush. The tolerances are tight. Everything seems to have been made from a different set of plans though. The bridge, the pick guard, and body. I made it fit. #fenderclone #fenderjaguar
Some how I am putting the finishing touches on guitar bodies for friends. Wood manipulation is wood manipulation after all. The cnc got the body close. The wiring and such would not fit. Birth announcement: The 47 B-Verb! This is my newest guitar tube amplifier, built completely from scratch (wood, chassis, faceplate, tolex, electronics, etc.). It's a single-channel Fender blackface-style amp (AB763 circuit) with a few mods: - Power switch on the front - No standby switch - Smooth bias tremolo - Bright switch (bright-off-brighter) - Mid-Raw pot. All the way off is standard 6.8K mid resistor. All the way to the right completely removes the tone stack for a very tweed-like sound - PPIMV (Master Volume, Type-2, Lar-Mar) - 6V6 power tubes using Vibroverb-like plate voltage on the preamp tubes After a bit of troubleshooting some buzz and hum, the amp is sounding great and really versatile. About 20 years ago I wrote a term paper in high school about tube amplifiers. I understood only 10% of what I was writing. Now, as a physics professor, I don't understand much more, but I'm sure I'm not killing myself while building an amp. That's why I bought a kit. With my calendar, it will take a few months to assemble, but I'm confident. After researching for 12 months, I finally settled on an #AB763 Deluxe Reverb Kit from Uraltone. Just got it today, but the parts look good, just high quality stuff. A few questions I have: Should I upgrade the PVC to solid cloth? Seems a little easier to route? Where can I get a real front panel (incl. "Deluxe Reverb Amp")? Have searched everywhere but haven't found one. And last but not least: WHICH speaker? Love this one, built it 2018, its the most complex circuit Ive worked on this far.
