Itโs light and delicate, as opposed to a denser one. It doesnโt feel as filling / jelat. Banana choc flavour was nice, thereโs actual banana slices in there, choc didnโt feel like it was of lousy quality, wasnโt overly sweet. Bread is soft and chewy. Not the nicest bread, but decent. Green tea taste was sufficient, so was the tanginess of the cream cheese. Not for matcha purists, I felt like it was more green tea than matcha. The red beans were a good addition! Bread was slightly nicer than the bread in the other flavours, I feel. Liked the flavour combi! I bought it on 2 separate occasions hence the different pics. ๐๐) V crisp and flaky, ample salty and buttery flavours, but wasnโt greasy. Chewy but still fluffy and soft. Part 2 of muyooโs breads! ๐๐) Purple sweet potato was pureed so it was smooth like a paste, not fibrous, and had a nice natural sweetness to it. ๐๐) Pulut hitam in a bread!! The chewy purple rice goes v well with the milky mochi. Even tho itโs technically carbs on carbs I didnโt feel that it was too heavy. ๐๐) Bread is dusted with peanut powder on top, peanut filling texture was a bit strange, kinda clumpy/goopy. Thereโs whole peanuts in it too, but they lost their crunch. Wasnโt a fan of the textures. ๐๐) Soft fluffy bread, with a distinct nutty black sesame flavour. Definitely one of the nicer mochi breads in town - I think wupaochunโs mochi is of a similar standard, but at around the same price point muyooโs has much better value - the bun is probably 2x the size of wpcโs mochi buns. Black sesame filling is gao and lightly sweetened, could taste the bitterness of the black sesame. Texture is grainy and hearty, theyโre v generous with the filling. The red bean is good, light and also not too sweet, like the type you get in Japanese bakery buns. Bread is chewy with a mild injeolmi taste from the injeolmi powder sprinkled on top. Enjoyed it, was very pleasant and easy to eat! *Note: this was stuck in drafts for more than a year lol so prices have changed - they actually adjusted the price downwards for a while in 2023 to $7.80, and up again to $8 for some time, Iโm not sure what it is currently. But for sure the size of the buns are now (in 2024) smaller than before. And they no longer have some flavours :( Amazing!! ๐๐) Fresh salmon, swordfish, tuna, ikura over marinated sushi rice Second time here and I ate the same thing as the first visit, as I remember it to be good and I felt like having a bara chirashi. It was once again delicious with the thick cubes of fresh fish and ikura, on some marinated sushi rice. Only thing is that theyโve raised the price from 17.90+ to 19.90+. Still pretty reasonable and a comparable price to other chirashi restaurants. But it made me realise that hana-hana (at tjpg) with their basic kaisen don (which is v yummy) at $15.10++ is SUCH a steal. ๐๐) Fresh slices of salmon, salmon belly, maguro, mekajiki, hotate, hamachi, akaebi, ikura on marinated sushi rice Everything was fresh with a good texture, and if I remember correctly the scallop I tried was particularly nice, I didnโt have that in my bara chirashi bowl! ๐Sushiro My first sushiro! Iโm not a big fan of genki (except the mentaiko fries it is v nice) and it was the only kaitensushi (conveyor belt sushi) chain iโve tried so I had no urge to try sushiro. But I have heard good things about it so we decided to try! And I was pleasantly surprised, it was better than I expected. They serve pretty decent sushi. Although some of nigiri had their rice falling apart. The fries are quite good, as skins have been left on so there is a nice crisp. I only did not like the amberjack (if i rmb correctly), itโs the one with the skin on as it had a fishy taste. Total was $44 for 2 of us, I thought it would be slightly cheaper but I guess itโs like going to daiso, just adding to your cart bc itโs cheap and suddenly you realise the billโs gonna be $50 ๐ฌ oh and the lighting is so good for some reason? food pics are well-lit with no shadows?? tldr: better than genki! would visit again. please send me your sushiro recommendations~ Amazing!! ๐๐) Matcha almond filling with home-made mochi My fav flavour from them! First had it in 2019 and it has come back as a seasonal monthly special every now and then, the last being Mar this year if Iโm not wrong. Croissant was crisp and flaky as usual, but what sets this apart from other filled croissants is the soft chewy mochi! I actually preferred the old version where the mochi was more gooey, less solid, and the mochi itself was matcha-flavoured which made it more special. The sweet matcha filling was earthy but could be more matcha-y, couldnโt help but notice the change in the shade of green between the old version (first 3 pics) and the current version. Nonetheless, will still get this when I see it available. Amazing!! Finally paid a visit to Abundance earlier in Jan. My favs were the gua bao and peanut ice cream roll, those are must-gets in my next visit! TLDR: worth the queue! Definitely satisfies a Taiwanese food craving. ๐๐) Peanuts were fragrant, roasty and crunchy, v nice with the cold vanilla ice cream, soft popiah skin and herby coriander (which is v necessary). Wasnโt too messy to eat as it was wrapped properly. I had the same dish somewhere else but this was much better. ๐๐) Braised pork belly was meaty and tender, fatty but really nice together with the other ingredients - roasty crunchy peanuts and pickles / coriander. Very satisfying, very yummy!! I will definitely order this again. ๐๐) The breaded squid had a satisfying crunch and the squid itself wasnโt overcooked/tough! Very flavourful with the salt and pepper seasoning, as expected. I donโt usually go for this sort of seasoned fried stuff (chicken cutlet, squid, etc.) and so it was a bit zhongkouwei for me, but still a rather enjoyable snack. ๐๐) Beef was sooo soft and tender, almost melt in the mouth. Star of the dish! Soup base was ok, tangy and tomato-ish, tasty but itโs not my thing. I love knife cut noodles but I wished this was more chewy, it was a bit soft probably because it was hanging out in the hot soup. ๐๐) A pretty good luroufan. Herbal braised pork was flavourful and had a nice proportion of fat to lean meat, was yummy with the pearly short grain rice. Taiwanese garlic sausage was tasty too, and I liked the addition of the pickled cucumber and fried egg. If I wanted a 1-bowl meal for lunch with no sides this would be my pick! ๐๐) Decent dumplings, they were fat and filled with a pork and shrimp filling, and dressed with scallion oil and dark sauce. Itโs nice but doesnโt stand out as much as their other menu items, as Iโve tasted similarly good dumplings at other places. Amazing!! Above average! Average Meh... ~W

The fish curry is good as usual, spicy enough to give some heat but not tooo spicy. 6 pieces is a bit too much for me as I wasnโt particularly hungry that day, but I reckon if I was hungrier this would be a good size. ๐State of Affairs ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐ก๐๐๐ฌ๐ ($๐๐.๐๐) Melted cheese in sourdough served with tomato soup Was satisfied with this, with the melty oozy cheese sandwiched between 2 crisp, well-toasted sourdough slices that werenโt too sharp, so it was quite easy to eat. The tomato soup was warm and rich and comforting, I wished there was more. While it was nice, I canโt say it was spectacular, because I havenโt had a lot of grilled cheeses, and those that I had were pretty nice too. I found the portion quite huge as I wasnโt very hungry that day, so I kept half in my @rolleat.official sandwich bag, thankfully I had remembered to pack it into my bag that day :D My friend had the salmon bagel! And I love the soft brioche burger buns ๐๐, I did find the burger too smol for me tho! Tho that meant I had a valid reason to try out #thefeatherbladesteak. Unfortunately, the steak was rather underwhelming. At the first try (pic 6), my medium rare steak came out a tad overcooked, bordering on medium. It was tough and chewy, and I'd to ask my friend to assess it for me. Turned out she had the same opinion. Gave feedback to the staff who changed it immediately. The 2nd time, it came out perfectly medium-rare, with ๐ฏ texture and bite (pic 7 and video). But, I realised that for both times, the steak was unevenly seasoned. Most pieces were bland, then I'll come across 1-2 pieces of the lot that's a saltbomb, way too salty! ๐ซ $25 for 200g is actually quite value for money, but I wouldn't call it a "proper steak". Sure, you can top up for sauces and have it together, but I'd think a basic steak should be properly seasoned first. Will I go back to #thefeatherblade again? Yes, I think I shall try once more, with sides next time. But, I hope that the steak will be properly cooked at the first try, and evenly seasoned. I'd love to try the Smoked Beef sando, but alas! Today's the last day!

Chicken pho had a clear light tasty soup base, with a generous serving of chicken meat that was tender and not stringy. The rice noodles were ok, feels like kwayteow, but I donโt think its the *authentic* rice noodles for pho? When I was younger a lot more vietnamese restaurants used the authentic type of noodles that has more bite to it and is a little translucent, but now they all mostly use this. The beef pho broth had slightly stronger flavours and was rather tasty too. The grilled pork in the bun thit nuoung was good - tender with some char and juiciness. Paired with the rice vermicelli dipped in a refreshing fish sauce and veggie, this dish canโt go wrong in a proper Vietnamese place. We first knew of this establishment as Restaurant Home, back in 2014/15? when they were at Rail Mall, where we ate at a few times. Years later it was converted into a specialty bao shop at Tampines, and now the owner has decided to close the shop as it is taking a toll on her wellbeing :( So if youโre intending to try their baos one last time, make a preorder before they close on 31 Mar! Part 2 of my Wheathead haul! ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ค๐๐ง ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐๐ฐ๐ข๐๐ก ($๐๐) A very refreshing cold sandwich! The chicken salad was indeed herby, with the roasted chicken breast made with herbs like dill, basic, italian parsley, celery, red onion, aioli, greek yogurt, and capers. I liked how clean and naturally flavourful it was, and the cucumber-dill salad added a soft crunch. The taste of dill was distinct and I enjoyed it. The sweet potato buns were slathered with wholegrain and dijon mustard, the buns on its own had a nice lightly sweetish flavour and was pillowy soft and aerated. My friend found it a bit too wet for his liking, but I think the buns absorbed the sauces well without being soggy? ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ญ ๐๐๐ซ๐ฆ๐๐ฅ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐จ๐ง๐ ($๐) This is a v close 2nd fav (kumquat cake was my #1). Crisp edges, tender buttery insides without tasting greasy. The kumquat marmalade gave a citrusy tart and sweet flavour profile, Iโm a fan of marmalade so I really liked it. The scone on its own has a nice aroma, and was p moist. The buckwheat gave a nutty taste + crunch! ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ง ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐ข๐ง ($๐) Made with toasted cornmeal and white corn kernels, this muffin had a coarser crumb than regular muffins, and was way less sweet. Although not as moist as the oil cake, itโs not dry by any means. I liked the corn flavour, although itโs not as flashy as the other items, I wouldnโt mind getting it again. Um Yong Baek ๐80/82 Telok Ayer St, #01 Singapore 048466 ๐Very authentic Korean pork soup in the CBD. โณPro-tip: skip queues by making sure to book a table on their website before visiting! When we arrived, all the tables were pre-booked by customers! Um Yong Baek serves 2 broth types, each comes with a generous serving of various cuts of pork meat! They also have very good banchan, which pairs well with pork soup๐. Hereโs the reviews for both! Busan Style Daejigukbab - $21.00 Features a clear broth with a light and clean pork meat taste. The real star for us is the meat! The unique cuts of pork meat have different textures and flavours which keeps every bite interesting. Milyang Style Daejigukbab - $21.00 This variation of the comes with a thicker broth made from various pork bones, giving it a richer taste! The pork meat which comes with the soup is the same as the Busan style Daejigukbab, generous portions and nice textures. Not to mention the generous fresh chives covering half the bowl๐คฉ Overall, Um Yong Baek is a great place to try out Korean pork soup in Singapore. It does have a very authentic and traditional flavor (we can tell from the endless stream of Korean customers in the restaurant). This may or may not suit everyoneโs taste but worth trying to find out! Seasoning the pork soup with the condiments (salted shrimp, ssamjang) is a definite must, as the soup comes lightly seasoned for self-customisation.
Back at Wheathead! I look through her menu every single week (Iโm not even kidding) but I live in the west and I canโt be driving to the east every sat. So when I went to Tampines one fine weekend, I made sure to include Wheathead in my plans ๐คช ๐๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ช๐ฎ๐๐ญ ๐๐ฉ๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ง ๐๐๐ค๐ ($๐) I LOVED THIS! I mostly liked everything I got in this order, but this was my favourite. This was a very moist oil cake with a coarse crumb, enjoyed the texture. Lovedd the mellow sweetness and citrusy flavour of the kumquats, with no bitterness at all. The kumquats had almost a jam-like kind of texture, was delish! ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ฆ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ ($๐๐) Plum was suuper tart, juicy and with its fibres completely broken down till there was no bite. Her flaky pastry dough is usually what I look forward to when I order galettes/pies as she does it very well, but this time the pastry wasnโt as flaky even though I toasted it in the oven :( The galette was paired with a sourish yogurt thing but it was room temp when we received it, would have been nicer cold. ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐จ & ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ญ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐๐ฎ๐ง ($๐) The tomatoes were wonderfully juicy and sweet and tart, while the port salut (cheese) gave the bun a mellow lightly cheesy taste. Part 2! ๐Kurama Robatayaki ๐๐ข๐ง๐๐๐ซ๐ ($๐๐) - grilled marinated miso cod fish Itโs charred at the edges, cod was tender and succulent and flaked nicely. Paired with ikura and truffle shavings, and served with garlic chips, it was pretty over the top haha. I wished it was more creamy, not that itโs not nice, but I had expected to be more wow-ed given the price tag (but I guess that was bc of the truffle shavings). ๐๐๐ข๐ง๐๐ฌ๐ฎ ($๐๐) - miso glazed eggplant Super yummy! The eggplant was broiled till soft and creamy, miso glaze was lightly charred and made for a wonderfully flavourful dish - sweet and savoury and umami. Really good with rice. We both agreed that next time, we will order one each to savour! ๐๐๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ค๐ข ๐๐ค๐๐ฐ๐๐ซ ($๐) - Grilled Mid-joint Wing The chicken skin was thin and delicately crisp - biting into it revealed super juicy, tender meat that was piping hot. These chicken wings were done really well! ๐๐จ๐ก๐๐ง ($๐) - steamed white rice Pleased with this piping hot bowl of plump, tender, sticky Japanese white rice. I do love a bowl of good quality rice!! Oma Spoon ๐313@somerset, #04 - 32, Singapore 238895 The place used to be bustling with crowds, but even though it may have quieted down, Oma Spoon is still a great spot for dessert seekers or when craving bingsu! Throwback to lunch a couple days prior. We were wondering around Canberra Plaza and saw this little restaurant selling vegetarian food. We were kinda lured in by the Hainanese chicken cutlet curry rice photo in the menu and we decided to give it a try. It was actually much better than we expected. The curry rice is really flavourful and you can taste a slight soy bean fragrance in the curry sauce. We love the chicken cutlet. It is very crispy and tastes a little like the fried beancurd skin (?) and the meat is really densely packed such that when you bite it, it tasted like real meat. We also love the assam curry fish that many were raving in Google review. It was slightly sour, a little spicy and very very good with rice. It is also interesting that we tasted โfishโ while eating the mock fish. Darling was very restless during the entire meal and keep looking out to the playground situated outside the mall. Unfortunately it was raining and we couldnโt let her play. #grovesg #grovevegetarian #hainanesecurryrice #assamcurryfish #vegetarianfood #sglunch #sgfoodreview #foodreviewssg #sgvegetarianfood #canberraplazasg #canberramrt #14monthsold
Got to try ๐๐ก๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ at Kovan recently, a supper spot that is open until 2am! They also have an outlet at Bedok. They specialise in braised meats, with pork, chicken, and duck options, with a variety of braised sides. We came here for dinner got the: ๐๐ข๐ ๐ง๐๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ซ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ฐ๐ฅ ($๐๐.๐๐) Pork Belly, Ramen Egg, Mild Spicy Minced Meat, Xiao Bai Cai Pork belly had distinct layers of lean and fats, savoury and flavourful - I could taste the slight spice (not spicy) that I later learnt was from the star anise, that added a warm sweet flavour to the meat. The minced meat was tasty too, juicy and with a light spicyness. Ramen egg was done nicely with a jammy yolk! ๐๐) Chicken Thigh Cubes, Peanuts, Xiao Bai Cai While the bf preferred the pork bowl, I liked this better! The chicken thigh cubes were lean but tender, and had a very homemade taste - it reminded me of my childhood sesame oil chicken from clementi (iykyk). The braised peanuts were soft and tasty, was a nice accompaniment to the chicken. I like that for both bowls there were quite a few stalks of blanched xiao bai cai to help cut through the richness of the meat. Most places give a teeny tiny amount of veg (if any) so I appreciated this. I think rice is important, so I was glad the rice had a decent texture that complemented the sauce. It also came with some FIERY garlicky chilli that was super spicy. Overall we thought each component was nicely done and we were satisfied with the food! Itโs something that we wouldnโt mind having again. Would be nice if they could provide bowls not disposables, which would improve the dining experience :) Thanks @thebraisedhouse @scalemicroinfluencers for inviting and hosting us! #coldbutterkovan #coldbutterchinese #thebraisedhouse #sgfoodgram #sgfoodies #sgfoodie #sgeats #instafoodsg #exploresingaporeeats #sgfood #foodsg #singaporeeats #sgfooddiary #foodiesg #igsg #igsgfood #foodphotography #foodreviewssg #sgfoodblogger #sgfoodtrend #foodreview #foodgram

A great find. Was around the area and decided to try this, expected it to be good because itโs by the elemen group, which serves pretty nice vegetarian food across a few different concepts in SG. The truffle la mian was my pick, because I was attracted by the nai bai cai and black fungus in the picture. Noodles were decent, had some bite and was tossed in a dark sauce with a truffle taste that wasnโt too overwhelming. Iโm not a big fan of truffle flavoured stuff because itโs just chemicals lol but this was acceptable. Nai bai was fresh and crunchy, mushrooms were juicy and black fungus was good too. Sesame chicken mee sua was not bad, the soup base was savoury and fragrant, with a gingery taste. I liked how it tasted quite homemade. The โchickenโ on first bite felt quite chicken-like but I decided I didnโt like it as I had more, the texture was like firm tofu but also not really. Prices are reasonable, standard eatery prices, and they also have kaya toast in the morning which Iโm hoping to try next time! Happy to say that it was as tasty as we remembered it to be ๐ All 3 meats have their own uniqueness from other stalls - we liked the charsiew best!! The skin was glazed and roasted well, nicely caramelised with a good ratio of fat to meat was good. It came with a sweet dark sauce one the side but honestly the charsiew was good enough and didnโt need it. It can get a bit sweet towards the end. For the roast pork/siew yoke, the skin was very crispy, and the meat tender and not overly salty. One of the softest roast pork Iโve had recently. Comes with some mustard sauce where the acidity helped balance the rich meaty flavours. Duck was tender for the thigh pieces but a little dry for the breast. We thought the herbal-ish sauce was p nice, tasty especially with rice. First time trying their hakka noodles, which was essentially meepok tossed in a lardy sauce and sprinkled with minced meat. Pretty good with the chilli that hits the spot. Itโs very flavourful due to how lardy it is, but got a little too oily for me though it was shared. The rice is also flavourful - itโs not plain white rice but chicken rice / ๆฒน้ฃฏ, which was fluffy and fragrant, I liked it even on its own. I found the rice at old airport a bit more oil rich and flavourful, but lighter at jurong. This works for me because the already very flavourful meats, together with the oily rice would have been too overwhelming / heavy. Overall a good experience and would recommend you try at least once, especially so if you enjoy strong distinct flavours. Westies you now have another place to get your roast meat cravings satisfied!

No Itโs my bfโs favourite flavour here and deservedly so. The rum soaked raisins have been aged for a month, made into a paste, and integrated to the custard base, and then layered with more rum-soaked raisins. This makes the gelato scream rum and raisin with every bite, not just the parts with the raisins. Loved the rummy sweet flavours! Yuzu was v good!! The yuzu taste was distinct, refreshing and sweet and tart. It didnโt taste overly sweet even till the end. I am now including this as one of my go-to flavours alongside white choc nori and rum & raisin! Iโm not a fan of lychee so no comments on that, but the bf liked it, it rly does have a floral lychee flavour that wasnโt cloying. Hazelnut was not bad at the start, was nutty but not the super nutty intense types, and it tasted a bit floury(?) towards the end. A got the chrysanthemum which in my opinion was much nicer than bopโs - floral and way less sweet, itโs like ~chrysanthemum tea less sugar~ in a gelato. Was good! Meanwhile the kueh bangkit tasted true to its name, was coconutty got quite cloying halfway thru. I also tried soya bean youtiao (they allow for taste testing) and didnโt fancy it, the flavour was slightly strange, and I only like youtiao that is crunchy/crisp, which this was understandably not since itโs in a gelato. It comes with a walnut mushroom pate that was very unique and pleasant, texture was pastey and the walnut flavour was distinct, I liked it! Tofu egg was as expected, crumbly and not super eggy, but I did not like the vegan banana ham, which felt a bit rubbery and tasteless. The sweet savoury sauce was like fish sauce + brown chee cheong fun sauce, tasty but slightly salty. The crunchy, refreshing pickles and cucumber are welcome as usual. Overall I was reasonably satisfied with this, though it gives a different satisfaction compared to a classic banh mi. Worth a try, I would get it again! Amazing!! Above average! #coldbutternorway a series of what we ate during our Norway trip last year! Also happy vday yโall ๐ a norway post for today bc thatโs where I met my bf some years back hehe ๐๐๐ข๐ซ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฃ๐จ๐ค๐จ๐ฅ๐๐๐ Geiranger is a village in western Norway. We came here to hike! Took refuge in this chocolate shop/cafe while waiting for the rain to pass. We got the dark hot chocolate (50 NOK / 6 SGD) - it was warm and chocolatey and comforting, just the perfect thing to warm us up in the cold spring (it was about 8ยฐC). The lady also kindly gave us some chocolate samples to try - there were many interesting flavours, and ultimately the one that we both liked best was the blue cheese chocolate - we bought some home (99 NOK / 12.50 SGD). The funkiness of the blue cheese worked well with the chocolate. The ladies at the shop were very friendly and welcoming, appreciated the warm hospitality! We also got the waffle stick (55 NOK / 7 SGD) which was alright but sooo pricey, and another hot chocolate on our second visit to the cafe in the afternoon, bc we were escaping from the cold while waiting for our ferry. The flavour was Chocolatemania, meaning all 3 types of chocolate was mixed in - white, milk, and dark. I much preferred the dark hot chocolate, Chocolatemania was too sweet. Thanks for reading even though this is not really useful but maybe when you visit Norway you will consider going to Geiranger and to this chocolate cafe! #coldbuttercafes #norway #geiranger #geirangersjokolade #hotchocolate #sgfoodies #sgfoodie #malaysianeats #fooddiary #foodiesg #foodphotography #foodreviewssg #sgfoodblogger #foodreview #foodgram
So sad to hear that Dawnโs Gelateria and Cafe at sunset way had closed in Nov 2023 :( I always thought their gelatos were well made, textures were great, with delicious classic and interesting flavours. They did mention on their fb post that they will be back at a new location, be sure to check it out when they open! ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐๐ก๐ข๐จ ๐๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐, ๐๐๐ง๐จ๐๐๐, ๐๐๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ซ๐ซ๐ฒ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ (pic 1) Their pistachio wasnโt on rotation this time, and I thought pistachio praline would be a good alternative, but it wasnโt because it wasnโt as nutty. The gelato has a milk? custard? base with pistachios folded in. The banofee was really nice though, the banana + sweet caramelised flavour was very enjoyable! Sorbet was refreshing and tart, cutting through the richness of the other 2 flavours. I canโt remember what were the flavours in pic 2, I think it was pistachio, hazelnut, and something else but I do remember them having really nice textures, smooth and creamy, yet not too surfeiting. I knew I had to have pistachio again because I had it on my very first visit and it was super yums! ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐๐ก๐ข๐จ, ๐๐จ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐ ๐จ๐ง๐, ๐๐๐๐ซ (pics 3 & 4) Happy that on this most recent visit, the pistachio was available! Their pistachio gelato was great as usual! Smooth, roasty nutty pistachio goodness, but not overly thick (so itโs not so gelat). I looove!! The coffee dalgona had a nice strong coffee taste, but I wish they would do away with the dalgona bit (honeycomb swirled in, if I remember correctly) as those parts were too sweet. The pear was very refreshing and pleasant, and had pear bits in it that gave the grittiness. We liked it! Amazing!! ๐๐) tomato sauce, mozzarella, caramelized garlic and basil It was decent - not sure if it was because we did a takeaway thus affecting the satisfaction (though we ate it about 5 mins later), but we were kinda disappointed as the tanginess of the sourdough pizza base did not come through. The dough was quite plush and soft, would have preferred it to be more crunchy at the edges. Toppings were alright but not fantastic. I guess itโs an alright pizza but I would rather go to other places for pizza! We went to the eng kong park outlet, not sure if itโll be the same across their other outlets! Amazing!! Above average! Selera Rasa Nasi Lemak #01-02 Adam Road Food Centre The draw of this nasi lemak has got to be the rice! Itโs very fragrant and flavourful with the coconut and pandan aroma infused. The chicken is not as juicy as I like, but I like the flavour of the crunchy skin / batter. The meat is not too dry so itโs still ok. Otah was very soft and p legit, a little like those you get in a peranakan restaurant. Itโs not the fishcake type. Was sad that the begedil wasnโt crisp. It tasted quite meh. Chilli not super spicy, was on the sweeter side. Egg was freshly fried so it was still piping hot, yolks were pretty cooked as expected. Ikan bilis and peanuts were crunchy! Itโs not bad, I liked it! If only their chicken was juicier. Amazing!! Visited @springleafprataplace - they serve reliable prata that satisfies my prata cravings! Before delving into what we ate, I must highlight that whatโs special about Springleaf is that 80% of prata dough production is done by People with Disabilities (PWDs). PWDs make up almost 40% of their kitchenโs total workforce, crafting a whopping 290,400 prata dough monthly. It definitely aligns with my values to support businesses that are inclusive! I love that they commit to making a positive social impact by providing purposeful employment opportunities. I also like that their locations are pretty convenient. Itโs good that their standards are pretty consistent across those that Iโve tried. Hereโs what we got: ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ ๐๐ฅ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ ($๐.๐๐) Enjoyed this a lot! It comprises a plain prata with crisp edges and fluffy centres, which went well with the poached egg, and the saltiness from the turkey ham. But there was tooo much hollandaise sauce - it was super creamy and quite jelat so I scraped it off. Will reorder this, but Iโll request for a little bit of sauce on the side! ๐๐) Thin and chewy with a nice fermenty flavour, and a tasty mashy potato filling, with dips - coconut chutney (for some reason had a garlicky taste), daal curry, and a spicy tomato chilli chutney. The chutneys were quite refreshing, and the curry had a beany texture! Wished it was a little more crisp at the edges. ๐๐ข๐ง๐ข ๐๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ญ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ๐๐๐๐ค ($๐๐) Murtabak was cheesy with mushrooms, egg and tandoori chicken. Tasty but was a little too salty for us. We particularly enjoyed the corner pieces, which had crispy edges! Recommend to share~ ๐๐๐ก ๐ ($๐.๐๐) We also got a teh o kosong to cut through the hearty dishes :) We went to the Junction 10 outlet and were served by friendly staff, had a good experience! There was a slight miscomm initially but a lady from HQ quickly reached out to ensure that everything was alright! I appreciated that, thank you MC :) Thank you @springleafprataplace and @thestephaniebenedetti for hosting and inviting us!

Todayโs dinner date was at our neighbourhood seafood shop ๐ฆ A simple yet hearty meal that was exactly the kind if seafood shop @balabalboa and I have been looking for. We initially wanted to order Sambal fried rice with Hot Plate Tofu and Ginger Onion meat but the staff recommended us to have plain rice too to make sure we taste the flavours of the dishes without the overwhelming taste of the sambal. And boy was she right! The Sambal fried rice was not too spicy and felt like comfort food. The ginger onion meat dish was not too oily too and the hot plate tofu was simple yet hit the spot. Overall, dinner here felt like we were dining at someoneโs home. The chef cooked simple dishes that were made fresh and with care, giving that โhomemadeโ touch. Weโll definitely be back to try more of their dishes and hope this hidden gem leaves more people happy and full with empty plates like ours in the last slide! #travellerae #foodreviewssg #eatbooksg #seafoodheaven
Recently had a delish meal at BREK@Cantonment Hawker Bar! Itโs a coffee shop with a variety of stalls. We went for dinner and tried the food at the 3 stalls listed below, but thereโs also a roast meat store (open till lunch usually), nasi lemak (only open in the morn). We got the bbq crab (seasonal price, ours was $9/100g) was v nice and my fav dish of the night! The crab was fleshy, sweet and fresh, with a firm and bouncy texture. Very different from the usual crab dishes like chili crab, black pepper crab, which are paired with heavy sauces - this BBQ crab is sauceless, which allowed us to savour the natural sweetness and briny flavours of crab! We also got the prawn tanghoon ($30) - prawns were so huge! Tanghoon could do with a little more zhup. Kimchi pancake ($7) - not bad when hot! Crispy, and the kimchi flavour was distinct. Gotta eat it before it cools or itโll taste doughy. We had the monthly special set ($50) comprising karubi, flank, ribeye, and diced cut steak. These cuts of A4 wagyu was thinly sliced, very fatty and tender, very easy to eat! Delicious but also felt greasy towards the end. Was rather fun to grill the meat, but also because itโs so fatty, we got some oil splatters. The diced cut steak was delish as well, had a different texture, was more juicy! But the coffeeshop is well ventilated so it didnโt get too smoky~ TLDR: A coffeeshop with pretty nice offerings, Iโll be back and will bring more friends to try the huge variety of food! I love the red bean, itโs soft and slightly mashy, with a nice mild sweetness. The actual chendol bits were nicer than I expected, it had a natural pandan flavour and wasnโt too gelatinous, rather soft and somewhat melt in the mouth. Gula melaka was thick, sweet and shiok, coupled with the coconut cream. A great cold sweet treat to beat the heat, and itโs evident that many felt the same too - the queue during weekday lunchtime was longer than I expected! My fav chendol in sg is still yat ka yanโs though. Their chendol is rly homemade (you can tell by the irregular shapes) and has a great texture. P.s. this is only a review of the Bukit Timah stall, not the rest of the outlets! ๐๐ each) (A super belated post because I forgot to post this draft) Always loved @woodlandssd โs sourdough donuts - this was my first try of their filled donuts, and itโs almost just as good as their un-filled ones (those that have a hole in the middle). Prominent, distinctive sourdough tang; fluffy insides with a slight crunch at the fried edges, check! The vanilla custard was not v smooth, but there's discernible vanilla specks and wasn't too sweet. The chocolate filling could have been richer, so we preferred the vanilla one. The filling could be better but the โbreadโ part of the donut itself is perrrrfect ๐คฉ TLDR: a MUST try!!! They havenโt sold donuts in a while but when they do come back, be sure to get some. Thank you @sweetblobs for sending these cookies! There are 3 flavours and they are labelled for easy identification. Choc chip was quite chocolatey, texture was to my preference - crunchy at the edges and chewier towards the centre. Liked the sea salt flakes! However it was bit too sweet. Black sesame was a softer cookie, also had a crunchy-chewy texture but slightly softer than the ginger choc and choc chip. The bssm taste was distinct, with a tahini-like, slight bitterness which was nice! Ginger choc was my favourite of the 3!! Gingery and warm, with bits of candied ginger. It had a similar texture to choc chip, and I liked that the chocolate component didnโt distract, but rather complemented the gingery flavours.
