๐Dewgather I love cafes. My ideal day would definitely include good cafe-fare, some form of caffeine and a sweet treat. Dewgather is a cafe that I would return to - it served up pretty good food, though at a pretty steep price. I went on a weekday evening, and it wasn't too crowded. I had the classic salmon avo and their hummus in a pan, and a bite of everything else my friends had. Classic Salmon Avo ($22) - 7/10 I have eaten my fair share of avocado toast. And I LOVE avocado. If they have it on the menu, I will probably eat it. Thus I ordered their avocado toast. The bread was crisp (and not too crunchy like a lot of cafe sourdough bread iykyk). The avocado was fresh and ripe. The poached eggs were perfectly runny. The smoked salmon just tied it all together. But I feel the avocado could have been better seasoned to really take it to the next level. I usually like some lemon and spices in my avocado! Hummus in a pan ($18) - 8.5/10 My favourite thing to order here. Every bite is so well seasoned. It's savoury, spicy and just such great depth of flavour. The toast is nicely toasted, fluffy inside with a crispy outside. We topped up $4 to get the sausage and it was quite worth it. It was huge, and also a nice savoury, spiced sausage. Really good flavour with a snappy bite. I would say it is quite pricey, especially since it didn't come with any meat. Lamb stew ($26) - 8.5/10 I only had one bite of this but it was a really good bite. Well balanced stew with really good depth of flavour. The lamb was nice and tender and I enjoyed the variety of vegetables. Salmon and rosti ($26) - 6/10 I did not really enjoy this. I felt like the rosti, though fried nicely, when combined with the fried salmon was too oily. It came with a side of salad, which did help cut through the grease, but not enough. First time at Yu Hua Village Market and Food Centre during the daytime! Most of the stalls here are open for breakfast and lunch only! For the many of my past trips, I visited only during dinner time and 95% of the stalls are already closed! Set my eyes on Eng Kee Noodle House ่ฑ่จ้บตๅฎถ(01-10) today! Got the dry wanton noodle ($4) and dry dumpling noodles ($4.50). The noodles were the qq kind which I like. However, the chilli was kind of watered down (also because we asked for less chilli), but it was like chilli + water, and the chilli was not very fragrant kind. Char siew was the not charred kind. Dumplings and wanton fillings seem quite little too and the skin was kinda thicker than usual. The dumpling also seemed smaller size and less plump as what I have had elsewhere. Walked around the hawker centre and saw mega long queues for 2 chicken rice stall. the chicken rice at this hawker GOT SO NICE MEH? anyone tried before? let me know! We had the best home cooked Malay food. In celebration of Hari Raya, our friend invited us to her place and served us mutton rendang, Sambal prawn, lemak chicken, tahu, and begidil. Officially launching on 6 May, the new space exchanges the cosy warmth of the Everton Park space for sleeker industrial minimalism moods, marked by burnished steel surfaces and ruggedly grey concrete. Donโt worry, while there are plans for a new dinner menu, the day-time focus stays the same โ sandos still reign supreme. - Perennial crowd favourite ๐๐๐ ($14) takes its rightful place on this menu, bringing on that exuberant breakfast comfort from its ensemble of thick-cut bacon, velvety scrambled egg, melted cheese, and a piquant herb-laden mayo. Just as good as it was before. MIKAWA SHUZO Maibijin Yamahai Junmai Unpasteurized Rice : Gohyakumangoku Polish : 60% | SMV : NA | Acidity : 3.0 All the rice used for sake brewing comes from Fukui Prefecture, And this Gohyakumangoku comes from the brewery's own rice fields. About half of the production is made using the 'Yamahai' method of brewing, which cultivates the natural yeast living in the brewery without adding yeast. The sake is made by hand, using many local ingredients, such as Fukui rice and original Fukui yeast, and all the sake is steamed in a Japanese-style kettle and pressed in a wooden vat made of sakura cherry wood, a process that takes a lot of time and effort. Along with its characteristic acidity, it has a firm umami and gentle sweetness, a sense of body and complexity that is reflected when the wine is heated. For those who worry about the pork belly having too much fat to lean meat ratio, fret not! While the pork belly was slightly dry, it was doused with generous amounts braised sauce. For those who enjoy spice, rmb to pair it with their chili too! I really like that the egg was a ramen egg instead of the normal braised egg (fully cooked kind)! If you prefer lean meat, I highly recommend the Minced Pork Bowl. The amounts of minced pork is very generous! For those looking for a supper spot thatโs open till 2am, @thebraisedhouse is a place to consider satiating your braised meat cravings. They have chicken and duck options for those not into pork.
