Brujos Brewing - Void Nectar - DIPA - 8.6% ABV ~ Premium hype juice from @brujos_brewing Portland based Brujos bring together a trio of Citra, Galaxy & Nectaron, resulting in a heady clash of citrusy and sweet tropical fruits. Grapefruit, tangerine, apricot and peach all feature at the fore. It’s a good mix of sharp and sweet, with a sprinkling of weedy dankness. Great body, great nose, and excellent drinkability, but I kinda expected this to blow my mind, and I’ve got to say it fell short of that. Don’t get me wrong, this is a top notch DIPA with all the flavour and body you could ask for, but it just left me feeling it lacked that something special to distinguish it. #8347 Badlands GaAma (2024) (Canada) Badlands time. This bad boy is a recipe from 3 years ago that was reinvented since they finally found some Galaxy they liked. It’s a 6.5% IPA with Galaxy and Nectaron, the latter of which replaced the original Amarillo (hence the name). It pours murky with a fluffy head and a tropical nose, it’s creamy and smooth with mango, pineapple and pithy citrus, it’s a little dank with a light, piney bitterness, it’s juicy and silky, going down a treat, wrapping in a dry, chalky finish. Per my wife’s request…giving my first go at an imperial milk stout this week. I should probably develop a pattern for these malt pictures because I can’t get over how cool they look. This thing is LOADED. Nearly 16lbs of malt in a 4.5 gallon batch (with yeast starter)…I likely overcomplicated the grain bill, but we’ll see…it will definitely be a sipper once it’s done. Some early and late Galaxy and Saaz additions to hopefully bitter and spice this one up. Coming in with an OG of 1.104ish, this thing is probably going to take some time to clean up and mellow, I’m putting my trust in @whitelabsyeast super high gravity that I’ve used in the past with good results. Nothing but Juice @rangebrewing Triple NEIPA 10.2% Easily worlds apart from the family so far. This has a boozy feel, more intense hops and over ripened fruit. The aroma starts the divergence from the other two, it may look similar but on the nose they could not be any more different. Passion fruit, mango and melon mix together. Flavours are not overly juicy, yet still delicious. Like what you might find in a satisfying West Coast. A big bold boozy biting brew...say that 10 times! Daily Intake @rangebrewing DDH IPA 6.8% Today’s selection is another huge juicy hit, similar to Pulp Free but offering some uniqueness in key ways. This IPA leans into the tropical flavours a bit more, focusing on the passionfruit and orange combination, with something more soft in the background. Think mangos or lychee. The overall feel is more silky as well, but it still has a slight bite, it’s just more of a playful nibble though. Another excellent beer, topping off the day in style.
