Hi everyone! Today we move to Phase 3!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now that businesses are reopening and restrictions are being lifted, I still want to ensure, as always, that YOU and your fur-kids are safe. Your safety is always my #1 priority. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ While I have both my shots, I will still be taking some precautions. This is because I have a compromised immune system as does my mother (who also has COPD and is undergoing chemotherapy) and to help protect my wonderful elders in my family + community. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I will be continuing to wear my mask at sessions + during reveal + meet & treat sessions. I get asked often by clients about what they should wear and about getting their pets groomed and in general, how to really rock their sessions! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Here are my top 3 tips: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1) Be comfortable - whatever it is that makes you feel like you and like a million dollars and totally full of confidence - THAT is what you should wear. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2) Keep your location in mind - if you're having a session at the beach, sandals are great but maybe not hiking boots. However, if you're session is out in the woods, those boots are great, and maybe leave the high heels at home. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3) Don't wear logos or crazy patterns. Those are an absolute NO. They totally distract from the main feature - YOU and YOUR FURKID! TGIF Everyone! Today is not only FRI-YAY, but it's also FAQ FRI!!! My apologies for being MIA this week but after all the moving chaos, my body demanded a break and wouldn't take no for an answer! YouTube marketing can make a huge impact on your #petbiz. Try these tips to leveraging video content on YouTube for your pet brand, store or service: - Keep videos short. The ideal length for explainer and testimonial videos is under a minute, while for product videos it's between one and two minutes. Any longer, and people lose interest. - Write your script in advance, and keep that short, too. You won't need more than a couple hundred words for any video if you're sticking to the recommended length. -If you can, add subtitles. Many people watch videos with the sound off. -Add a transcript in the description. This will make it easier for people to find your video, but also helps people who like to have a description they can refer to later. This is especially helpful for how-to videos. Happy Caturday Everyone! Today I wanted to share some of my special photoshop magic! Did you know that with the magic wave of my photoshop wand, I can not only remove leashes to make every dog look like an obedience school valedictorian but I can also create fun and unique images featuring your furkid using the images from their session? For example, here is a special image I did with our very own resident Paws + Tails, Miss Ozzy. I took the original image in the summer on our beach here at Paws + Tails Pet Photography HQ while she sat on the rocks. With a wave of my photoshop wand, she became a superhero watching over the city just in time for Howl-oween. I also turned this super fun photo of these pups from @allstarsk9 exploring @downtownabbotsford into a spooktacularly fun Howl-oween image and then with an added twist, turned it into a fun digital art piece! Happy Monday everyone and Happy Hug Your (FUR) Kid day! While its technically Hug your kid day, let's be honest, our fur-kids ARE our kids - they just have a fur coat, speak a different language and walk on all fours! Happy Tuesday everyone! Did you know that today is Mac + Cheese Day?! Raise those paws if you're a Mac + Cheese lover! Do you like KD or homemade? White cheese or Powdered? Organic? Gluten-Free? Let me know your favs today! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today I want to talk about one of the biggest questions I get asked about. Those “naughty dogs”. I’m often told by pet parents that their dog is a little nervous, shy, hyper, has no training, no recall, etc, and think that they could never have an outdoor pet session with their furbabies. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So I’m here to ease your fears. Your pet doesn’t have to be an obedience school king (or queen) to have a session here. Most pups, contrary to every pet parent's belief, are not obedience school royalty – most are pretty average and all have their own quirks and specialties. If your pet can on occasion, sit and maybe stay or lay down – I guarantee we can capture some special memories! My camera is very fast and I have experience working with dogs of all shapes, sizes, breeds, ages, and skill levels. Every dog is different, and we work at their pace and their schedule, working with rewards and patience to capture their true selves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is also something we discuss in our Meet + Treat session, which is also a great time to let your fur-kid get to meet me – that crazy person with the giant eye that makes funny noises to help them be relaxed with a familiar friend on their session day! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ So, please do not let your dog’s behavior hold you back from booking a session. It is so nice to see the sunshine and last week I had the honor of photographing this special senior pup in a celebration of life session along with her two siblings - one that is also a senior and the other who is a young pup. All 3 are very active happy labs! We enjoyed capturing unfilled moments in their yard at home separately as well as together - including some of them with their parents + all of them as a group that was composited together. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Did you know that if you have multiple high energy pups or pups that don't like to be close together, that we can take separate images and composite them together into one image? Don’t leave an open flame unattended with your pets, it's so easy to knock over for any pet causing a fire.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2. Secure stove knobs so jumping pets don't accidentally turn them on and potentially cause a fire.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3. Avoid candles - try using a flameless battery-operated one instead.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4. Secure your fireplace so pets cannot get too close to them!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5. Secure electrical cords so pets don't chew on them and cause a fatal accident for them or a fire.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 6. Avoid placing glass water bowls on wood decks. Here’s one you may not have considered—a glass water bowl left in the sun can act as a magnifying glass and focus the sun’s rays into a hot beam. On a wood deck not properly treated with flame-retardants, that heat could start a fire. Happy Monday everyone! Summer is here and with it comes sunshine and warm temps! So today I thought I'd share a few quick tips on exercising your pups in the summertime!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1. Take to the trees for a shady forest hike where it is nice and cool. Whenever possible, take the shadier route.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2 Exercise early morning or later in the evening when it's coolest - you and your pet with thank you for this! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3 Protect those paw pads your dog’s skin! Remember to check the sidewalk temperature before starting to walk - if it's too hot for your skin, it's too hot for them to walk on! And don't forget the sunscreen on breeds that are sun-sensitive!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4 Limit exercise duration and intensity. Unlike other seasons, this time of year, keep the sessions a bit shorter and less intense to keep everyone safe in the heat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 5 Know the symptoms of dehydration and heatstroke in your pet and what to do when they start showing signs of it! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Additionally, we have a special offer for the month of July!
