Same slab - different looks? Clay makers: did you know? When working with translucent clay, the results vary widely depending on how long you let your cane sit before you cut into it. The alcohol in the ink “eats” into the clay, so they get deeper, mixed a bit more, and less bright over time. I personally love that effect, but it’s a fine line to work with, as if you leave it too long, the clay gets impossible to recondition (and translucent clay is already notoriously difficult to work with)! You wouldn’t believe how bright they are in real life. Sometimes, translucent earrings are the hardest to capture in photos, and these are some of those. 🔥🔥🔥 The original plan was for them to be orange, red and brown, but the alcohol ink turned pink instead of red… and you know what? I love it either way! Maybe not the “fire” colours I had planned, but they’re a whole summer vibe just by themselves, and I am here for it. Somehow, they give me a Bacardi razz and solero as earrings vibe? 🤣 For those waiting for the cutters: I had to change PLA, because I want to work as sustainably as possible, to now working with one that is compostable. And little did I know that if you change pla, troubleshooting can start from scratch again! 😅🤷♀️ But I think I’ve now mastered the new PLA+, which means that they’ll launch soon. What do you look for in your cutters? I want mine to be sharp, but most importantly sturdy. When working with translucent clay that’s coloured with alcohol inks, the clay often goes sticky. So to get a clean cut, I need sharp edges but also toughness so the cutter can handle my pushing and wiggling it, so get the perfect indent, print, and cut. And I hate to toot my own horn, but it took me MONTHS of troubleshooting and practice to get the cutters and texture rollers that I work with to come out exactly to my liking. And now I’m closing in on sharing them with you too, if you’re interested. THEY ARE BACK! 🤍 Well they never actually went away! When I discovered the super soft printed minky fabric I knew I had found something special. I never set out for these to be such a sensory product but your feedback that they help your Little Poglet’s settle, get to sleep and provide comfort to them is just wonderful. It’s so hard to show just how soft, snuggly and ‘stroke-able’ these are in a photo. But check out our stories to see them in action! Our blankets measure approximately 70cm x 90cm and are backed with fluffy teddy fleece. They cost £30.
