Have you ever felt like your prayers weren’t being answered. Like maybe God wasn’t listening to you or didn’t care about you? Joseph of Egypt might have felt that way. I’m sure he said many prayers asking for deliverance from all his struggles like being thrown in a pit, being sold into slavery; Being falsely accused of rape or being thrown in prison. Thirteen long years of wishing he could be home with his family. Can you imagine how frustrating that must have been. I’m sure he was like “I know you’re there God. Can you please help me?” God was there and He was working on an answer to Joseph’s prayer. It was just going to take longer and be bigger and much more different than Joseph could imagine. He was not only delivered, but he became the deliverer for a nation and his family. So if God seems silent to your prayers, he is probably working on something that is surprising and better than you can imagine. In the moment it can be so confusing to see what God does what he does. We often ask ourselves why me? Why did God give me this huge mountain in my life? It feels unfair a lot of the time. I met God on the side of the road in 2021 after I almost got in a car accident. I was crying so hard I couldn't see. I pulled over in a development not quite finished and just cried with my hands to the sky & this overwhelming comfort came over me so that I had to sit down & be quiet...his presence comforted me to silence.... Hey yall who may be new, I am Marleyna!! Nice to meet you!! Now I grew up in church...like really grew up there. 1. Sunday service, Wednesday bible study, Thursday choir rehearsal, Saturday aquilite (I feel like I am spelling that wrong hahaha) practice & then Sunday again. 2. I was a youth pastor....and a PK. (yes, when I got free, I went a little crazy!) 3. Spent my summers in all girls church camps & went to vacation bible schools all over the Metro area. But that experience had nothing on building a real relationship with God where I have come to know him for myself. The church will have you thinking that in a pew is the only way you are going to meet him and it isn't true (don't tell nobody I said forsake the fellowship, I will get you for lying)!! But what I mean is-- how do you make a friend in daily life?? You talk. You visit one another regularly. You share about your life & develop a genuine concern for one another. You swap books. You laugh. You play. You cry. You learn about one another. Yes, God is known through the context of a father to most but he also desires our friendship. Our companionship. Our love and for us to revel in his presence. He desires to be your most intimate relationship because in coming to know him, he can also remind you of who you truly are. Not what the Earth suit says but the spiritual being that you are that can move mountains and heal your life with your words and is meant to create things which glorify him & unleash your & the world's full potential. Now I was introduced to God in a pew. Met him on the side of the road & encounter him daily because I recognize his voice. What kind of relief do YOU need today? Through our covenant relationship with Christ, He provides “relief from fear, relief from insecurities, relief from pride, relief from sin, relief from loneliness, relief from sorrow.” I love this promise and I have experienced relief from each of these things (and yet still need reminders that He will provide relief! Why is it so hard to remember to fully turn to Him and trust Him?). And He often allows US, as His disciples and as members of the Relief Society, to help administer this relief! In the BYU Women’s Conference, Sister Yee shared a story that President Hinckley told years ago. A divorced mother of seven children had delivered something across the street. As she was walking home, she saw the lights on and heard her children calling for her, needing her assistance. This mother felt exhausted and inadequate for her heavy responsibilities. This mother looked heavenward and said, “Dear Father, I just can’t do it tonight. I’m too tired. I can’t face it. I can’t go home and take care of all those children alone. Could I just come to You and stay with You for just one night?...” President Hinckley explained what she related to him: “I didn’t really hear the words of reply, but I heard them in my mind. The answer was: ‘No, little one, you can’t come to me now...But I can come to you.’” Sister Yee then said: “I can come to you.” He came to her, and He will come to you and I, just as the Savior came to the woman at the well where she labored and toiled through her days. He came to her. He encouraged her, taught her, declared His Messiahship to her, and loved her when perhaps she didn’t love herself. To the woman at the well, to the young mother of seven, to you and I, Jesus Christ stands ready to provide relief. I testify that we can receive relief through our covenant bond with a loving God.”
In the vastness of His creation, Allah formed each of us with intricate care and boundless love. It's a profound truth – the Creator of the galaxies, the oceans, and the skies intimately knows every beat of our hearts, every joy, and every ache. How could the One who shaped us not understand our struggles? In moments of despair or elation, remember: Allah is not distant; He is the closest, the Most Merciful. Pour your heart out to Him, for He yearns to listen. Share your fears, your hopes, your pains, and your joys. In the sacred space of prayer, connect with the One who molded you from the clay, and find solace in the knowledge that the Creator comprehends the complexities of His creation.
