Even though we are experiencing a small moment of difficulty which will pass, I know that we are blessed because we strive to do what is right. Being blessed in all things doesn't mean that we go through life without the hard times, its means we get opportunities to learn and to grow. “And it came to pass that I beheld others pressing forward, and they came forth and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press forward through the mist of darkness, clinging to the rod of iron, even until they did come forth and partake of the fruit of the tree.” - 1 Nephi 8:24 Tonight, I read that verse for the first time from the perspective of a person struggling with their mental health. ❤️🩹 Sometimes, when you’re buried or drowning in the thick and heavy emotions and thoughts inside your mind, it can be hard to see how far you’ve come and to interpret what Heavenly Father is trying to show you or teach you. We go through life experiencing trial after trial, and some moments - the moments where you’re trapped and consumed by your own mind - feel like you’re never going to be pulled out of the deep pit you’re in. 😞 But something I pulled from my scripture study tonight is this…more often than not, you’re going to have to press forward through whatever obstacle or struggle you’re facing, but you’re never alone in that moment. When it feels impossible to keep pressing forward, leaning on the people, the resources that are around you, and the faith that you have is crucial to make it through; clinging with all your might to God and Jesus, clinging to God’s word, and going to Him in prayer is what’s going to help get you through it. 🫶🏻 That’s not to say that every trial you face will be easy-peasy or will magically go away simply because you have faith and lean on God, but it will make it more bearable to endure knowing you’re not alone. Trials really suck. I’ve had a lot of them over the years, and the ones I’ve had this year aren’t any easier. But know this: you’re not alone in this life. You are loved. I am loved. WE are loved by an all powerful Father in Heaven and a loving Savior. 🥹 They are waiting for all of us to turn to Them in every moment of life. ♥️

Isn’t it great that change is an important part of this mortal journey?! That we have a loving Savior who paid the price so we can repent daily. He meets us wherever we are at then he helps us onto higher ground. One of the adversary’s tactics is to make us feel like we do not need to change, that it’s too hard or our sins are too great. He is very good at what he does. But the Savior is better. This is a talk given by a 15 year old young woman to her ward in Utah. I am amazed by our youth who are searchers and seekers and wanting to understand how they fit into the narrative of Christ’s Church. Hannah already understands that the men who tell our stories, even good and prophetic men, have often left women out of the historical record. Hannah wisely understands that being left out of the history doesn’t mean that women weren’t an incredibly important part of the story—women have always been called to God’s work. Let us live as he did to truly be considered a disciple of Christ and follow of our Savior. To live the lifestyle of a Christian. Give unto others. Love others. Live not for your own desires and thoughts but for the thoughts and desires unto others as Christ would have us do. I challenge anyone who reads this to keep these verses in mind as you go about each day and see what you can do for others. Even simply holding a door open for others. Christ is a title, meaning “anointed” or “The Anointed One “. He was set apart or consecrated to atone for us, to set the perfect example, to provide the opportunity for us to be saved and exalted. He fulfilled His role perfectly and it is only through Him that we can be saved. What does this name, this title, teach you about Christ? We, too, have been anointed and asked to consecrate ourselves to the building up of His Kingdom. How can you take this name upon yourself this week and consecrate yourself more fully to following Him and building up His Kingdom?

It’s #missionarymonday and we’ve got an update from Elder Talmage Thomas (Hearthwood Ward), currently serving in the Peru 🇵🇪 Lima East mission! 😊😊😊 Elder Thomas shares the following with us: “I’ve really seen the hand of Jesus Christ in my life through the opportunity I have to repent and continually become better, He is always welcoming me back with open arms. I have felt more happy than ever before as a missionary, and that’s promised in each and every call letter: ‘Greater blessings and more joy than you have yet experienced await you as you humbly and prayerfully serve the Lord in this labor of love among His children.’ My testimony has increased and I have had to exercise my faith more than ever before, really leaning on my Heavenly Father putting words into my mouth as I speak to his children here in a language very foreign to me. In the introduction of the Book of Mormon, there is a quote from the Prophet Joseph Smith: ‘I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book.’ As we teach our friends, they come to realize more and more that The book of Mormon isn’t just a record of a thousand years, but a testament of Jesus Christ. As they continue to learn and pray, I see more peace, kinder words, and brighter countenances.” We hope Elder Thomas and all of our missionaries have a wonderful week!! 😊🙏😊
This phrase right here is what I want my children to know. They are still so young, they still have so much to face. I don’t want them to grow up and expect trigger warnings everywhere. I don’t want them to feel “unsafe” for hearing a different opinion. I don’t want them to feel like hard trials are “bad”. I pray that my children will face hard things and BOUNCE BACK stronger for going through a refining fire. I want them to know that being refined is going to burn a little. But that’s not bad!! Something BEAUTIFUL comes out of that furnace of affliction. God Himself has promised that hard things will be used for our GOOD. A few weeks ago I got to take some outstanding young men to the temple. I can claim two of these handsome boys! Sister J. Anette Dennis said in this last conference “Covenants create the kind of relationship that allows God to mold and change us over time and lift us to become more like the Savior, drawing us closer and closer to Him and our Father and eventually preparing us to enter Their presence......Our Father wants a deeper relationship with all His sons and daughters, but it is our choice”. How pleased I am when I see young people making that choice. 💛💛 If I could go back in time, this is the one thing I’d tell myself. I have felt inspired to share my past. I pray that there is no judgment but just love. I have always been a member of the church, but on many different levels. In my late teens and early 20s, I did not have a testimony and made choices that drew me further away from Heavenly Father. Deep down, I always knew the church was true, but I never felt the true love of my Savior, Jesus Christ. After many decades and different experiences, my heart began to change. I became a witness to our Heavenly Father and Savior, Jesus Christ’s love for each of us. I knew His desire for each of His children to turn to Him. One afternoon, I felt guilty about my past choices. After saying a prayer outside, I opened my eyes and saw a beautiful rainbow. At that moment, I knew Heavenly Father forgave me, and my future was bright and as beautiful as that rainbow. At that moment, I knew “his goodness and … tasted of his love.” Why do I share this? I pray that others who might be on the cusp of losing their testimony of Jesus Christ see that change is possible. “You can change! “With the help of two Hebrew scholars, I learned that one of the Hebraic meanings of the word Israel is “let God prevail.” Thus the very name of Israel refers to a person who is willing to let God prevail in his or her life. That concept stirs my soul! The word willing is crucial to this interpretation of Israel. We all have our agency. We can choose to be of Israel, or not. We can choose to let God prevail in our lives, or not. We can choose to let God be the most powerful influence in our lives, or not… “The question for each of us, regardless of race, is the same. Are you willing to let God prevail in your life? Are you willing to let God be the most important influence in your life? Will you allow His words, His commandments, and His covenants to influence what you do each day? Will you allow His voice to take priority over any other? Are you willing to let whatever He needs you to do take precedence over every other ambition? Are you willing to have your will swallowed up in His?” (President Russell M. Nelson, Let God Prevail, October 2020). As I read the verses above, it made me realize that here in this nation, which is the land that the Lord is speaking of, those things are happening. We live in a nation that is becoming more wicked. We hear of “invading forces”, so it seems to be describing our time, but the Lord give great blessings to those who are of the house of Israel.
