Took a break from Boston and ran over to Cambridge to see this iconic home where one of the most important figures in culinary history lived and worked. Julia Child lived in this home when she returned to America and this was where she filmed several of her television shows! Her now famous kitchen that was in this home currently sits at the Smithsonian Museum. I absolutely love Julia Child and since we were right next door to Cambridge, I had to make a pit stop to see it and pay homage to one of my heroes! The garden is confused. We now have hellebore and celandine poppies blooming, which are more usual in early spring.
Last summer we went months without any meaningful amount of rain and this year we get deluged on a weekly basis. The plants are growing into a jungle but haven’t bloomed very much. Here’s hoping for a more seasonable rest of the summer.

This rhubarb plant has been growing along the stone wall of the pool terrace since we have lived here. There is another in the middle of the lawn near the yard well that we harvest from and maintain. This one we let do its own thing.
There is something so architectural pleasing 🙌🏼about a home with a gambrel or Mansard roof. Here in the west coast there are not too many homes with this style. I can only think of one or two in my neighborhood and a few I see down at the beach in Newport. 🌊⚓️⛵️I especially love it covered in shingles, whether it be painted or naturally weathered by time. One of my favorite homes on the east coast is @findingsilverpennies Her house is so 🩵beautiful and her gardens🌿🪴🪻🌾🌻, her pool 👙🛟🩱house, everything! I also love when it has dormers!!!
