Limited colour palettes - I love them! They’ve always intrigued me and drawn me in.. maybe due to the children’s books I grew up that often had just a few colours. I decided to start a new colour palette sketchbook, inspired by a Domestika course by Rachel Katsaller and then try the palettes out on my artwork. Burgoyne Gardens Development off New Britain Ave at Quaker Lane The Hartford Courant announced in an article on June 6, 1915 that the developers, Charles A. Case owner and Wallace B. Goodwin, agent, were “getting Burgoyne Gardens in Shape, 28 Lots in Fine Tract”. Burgoyne Street, the road that today takes you to the Elmwood Community Center, was going to be the main street in the development. Sidewalks were laid, trees planted and the street was paved with paving blocks. Ornamental cobblestone posts were erected. The company advertised that it will be restricted to one and two family homes and in an unusual twist, the sale of the lots was on a strictly cash basis. It was within the 5-cent trolley limit with a short walk up to New Britain Avenue.
