Back in the saddle with what was supposed to be an easy 3, then I went out waaay too hard at the beginning and my heartrate was 🚄. Probably didn't help that I drank no water today. So I guess Thursday will have to be the easy one. The real story here though besides my fierce cheekbones (courtesy of sucking in my cheeks) is that a huge tree came down on my trail path just a few minutes before I ran down it. A person coming out of the trail relayed that she had almost been hit by a falling tree and I was like, ok, I totally validate your feelings but also this feels like this morning when I couldn't find my BBQ chips for 34 seconds but then I did so like maybe scary but then totally not actually a thing? But then I saw the tree and it was really effing big and took down a whole lot of other branches so that person is really lucky they're alive and also that was much worse than the lost BBQ chips of 2024 Disaster. Moral of the story: be really careful on your paths even if the storm happened like 48-72 hours ago! 🗓️ what a week! had to say “see you soon” to Bert 🚐 & Ernie 🐶 and ✈️ fly from San Diego to Boston during a nor’easter (in April) 🌨️ then made my way up to Portland, Maine for my sisters wedding weekend! mani pedis, girls lunch, hibachi rehearsal dinner, hair & makeup, their first look pictures at Cape Elizabeth Light House, ceremony & reception overlooking Portland Harbor, & then everyone danced the night away celebrating the newlyweds! raised a glass to the bride & groom 🥂 and wrapped up my made of honor speech 🎤 in the words of Natasha Bedingfield’s theme song from reality TV show, The Hills … “today is where your book begins, the rest is still unwritten.” 🎶 chapter 2 of the week kicked off with a quick pitstop in New Hampshire to check out the solar eclipse 😎 with friends, then back to Boston @danafarber 🏥 for an MRI, PETScans, bloodwork and immunotherapy infusion. the results were good (yay!) but they still are keeping an eye on a few areas in my neck and ribs. in the grand scheme of things, i’ll take it. needless to say, i am beyond exhausted, but it was worth every travel challenge, ache and pain to be able to be by the side of my sister on her wedding day and be in the hands of an amazing oncology doctor at Dana Farber. ❤️ grateful to still be here to experience these important milestones 🙌 #portlandmaine #solareclipse #capeelizabeth #maine #newhampshire #noreaster #springbreak #metastaticbreastcancer #stage4breastcancer #breastcancer #tnbc #triplenegativebreastcancer #danafarber #immunotherapy #unwritten #natashabedingfield #berternieandme

Debris from a boat that came off its moorings on Peaks Island and ran aground after last week's nor'easter is currently covering a Cape Elizabeth beach. The town has been in contact with the U.S. Coast Guard, who is working with the boat owner, to figure out how to get Cliff House Beach cleaned up. The month of April started with a threat of severe weather in New Hampshire. I spent a good part of the early days watching the NOAA weather maps tracking the potential snowfall for this area. Usually, when I start watching a storm this far out, the snow totals decrease as the days counted by. This time, they kept increasing. Against my better judgment, late Friday morning I pulled my F250 out of the garage and headed out to verify I could get out if needed to work my sift in the gallery. The path down my road was blocked by trees and a downed utility pole forcing me to back up a few hundred feet to the first driveway I found. The four mile trip up my road was draped with snow-laden branches pinging off my windshield. I made my way to Route 140 to check its condition and though snow covered, it was passable. Crystal Lake Road was another story. I found myself blocked by downed trees and poles again. It did not take long to realize that getting out did not mean I would get back home. Once turned around, I started the long journey back, retracing my path home.
