Besides illustration I enjoy working with digital programmes like Photoshop and Illustrator. I've always been too shy to make an #artvsartist post before, but I like seeing other people's when they post them. So here goes! The last year has been important for me both for honing my style — traditional and digital, and in many cases a combination of the two — and streamlining my focus in my illustration career. It feels like there are infinite directions to go, and I've tried too many of them in the past, without seeing much progress in technical skill or professional success. There is so much left to do and improve, but having a direction is helpful. I've also started to feel much more a part of a wonderful, supportive community of creative people, within and outside of Berlin. There is so much camaraderie and collaboration and mutual support amongst illustrators, which is a wonderful discovery after years of being afraid to reach out to others due to imposter syndrome, or afraid of a sense of competition. I've also started to recognize major areas in which I need to improve in my practice. For years, I just kept working at getting better at drawing, and assumed this would make me a better artist. Somewhere in the course of the past months, I realized I was sometimes making art that was technically impressive but felt flat and voiceless. This year, my greatest goal is to find this missing voice. Cheers to everybody who's on this creative path as well, and I hope it's a year full of great advancements for all of us!
