The panel session which involves diplomats like @tamamonday, @dakoreekpendu, Cabera Ruben and the moderator Queen Ebere Joy gave an insightful conversation on Nigerians learning from the Mexican who had gain independence since 1810 only to gain a stable economy 200 years later. There is a call for more diplomatic opportunities like cultural exchange, tourism adventure, and collaboration. They possess the technology resources, and Africa possess the material resources that would make their technology effective if they establish them here in Africa. It was a high level of networking as I was able to connect with one of my leaders in the peace building environment who served as the moderator of the event Moses ABOLADE. The African Leadership Academy Governance Consortium Workshop convened a gathering of leaders from various sectors including policy, government, business, and civil society. The focus of the event was on investing in Africa's Future through the prism of financing youth leadership development in governance. During the workshop, there was a significant emphasis placed on the importance of building coalitions, fostering accountability, and fostering collaboration to broaden outreach and enhance social impact. The necessity of cultivating competent and innovative public servants equipped with contemporary reasoning and skills for development was underscored. Various avenues for financing youth leadership development were explored, with suggestions spanning Corporate Social Responsibility, individual philanthropy, social impact investment, public-private partnerships, and alternative financing mechanisms beyond traditional aid. My takeaway from this conference was that we need women in their different diversity for the development we need. Therefore, they need to understand the need to invest in themselves, understand time management and have a basic education. Panel session 2: Business and leadership Panel session 3: Public management moderated by ZIGWAI TAGWAI and the panel included Sadiq Wanka and Ifenla Oligbinde among others. It is the Peace & Conflict Prevention/Resolution month for Rotary, and as a Positive Peace Activator with a strong passion for learning and sharing knowledge, it was a tremendous honor to be invited by the Rotary Club of Victoria Island East to make a presentation during their Rotary knowledge session. During my engagement, I focused on harnessing service for the advancement of peace, while utilizing the Positive Peace Framework within the various Rotary areas of focus to which they belong as members of society or have a vested interest in as citizens and Rotarians. In a dialogue aimed at addressing pressing issues facing women and generating practical solutions, as part of the commemoration of the 2024 International Women's Day. As a panel discussant, I had the opportunity to envision the pivotal role of women as catalysts and leaders in Nigeria's development journey. We delved into the challenges and opportunities that arise when women assume leadership positions, become entrepreneurs, professionals, peacebuilders, community leaders, and change agents. Our discussions also focused on the fundamental pillars that foster inclusivity, diversity, and the celebration of women's achievements and empowerment across social, economic, and political spheres. Moreover, we explored innovative strategies to dismantle barriers, defy gender stereotypes, and foster an inclusive society that respects and recognizes the value of women. Additionally, we critically examined the progress and gaps in implementing the National Gender Policy, as well as international and local initiatives aimed at promoting gender equality and empowering women, particularly those in marginalized communities. The insights and contributions from the expert sessions were synthesized into a comprehensive white paper, which succinctly articulated key issues and offered actionable recommendations. Aisha, a young girl who recently underwent FGM, facing not only physical pain but also enduring lasting emotional trauma in this modern age because of how deeply rooted the practice of female genital mutilation (FGM)ย is in Nigeria.ย Statistics reveal that in Nigeria, over 20 million women and girls have undergone FGM, perpetuating a cycle of harm and perpetuating health risks. The urgent need to end this practice is evident as it violates human rights, jeopardizes well-being, and contributes to gender inequality. There is no doubt the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation marked today is themed ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐พ๐, ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐. We all need to listen to their pains including husbands who lost their charming beautiful wives to this practice.ย As an SDGs Advocate wanting to see change, here are tips we need to carry out; ๐๏ธ Raising awareness about the physical and psychological toll of FGM ๐๏ธ Communities can challenge traditional norms and empower individuals to make informed choices. ๐๏ธ Legislative measures must reinforce the illegality of FGM, providing a strong deterrent. The invite was a plenary session marking the International Day of Education focusing on Educational Narrative: Nurturing Young Historians for Lasting Peace in Nigeria. I spoke giving an insight into what the network is all about and the role they are playing to ensure Educational benefits reach all their members through the rejuvenation of their minds and access to global opportunities for global relevance and local impact. The panelists consist of IGWESHI AUGUSTINE, Raquel Kasham Daniel, Mukhtar Halilu Modibbo, Idoko Philip, and the moderator Vanessa Akpelan. In August I heard his soft whisper โdo you trust me?โ Through deep tears I said told him the truth โI donโt know if I do.โ He is a good God who can hold that and he showed me his heart and my own. I have spent the last months of the year processing what is his plan not my own, a door I thought was closed. Confusion and grief are not gone, Iโm still a total ball of black goo, but the literal punches and kicks to my gut each bring a spark of joy. In April this little babe will arrive, and so we sit in the anticipation of tiny fingers and toes. And the yummy smell of a newborn babe. We sit in awe of tiny baby clothes and imagine the person the babe will become. We cling to the truth that we serve and love a great God whose plans far exceed our own. I joined @pcnginitiative to discuss Nigeria's CNG Revolution: Seizing sustainable opportunities in @hiltonabuja. It is important to reduce the Carbon footprint in Nigeria after a long discussion at #cop28. One of the bigger approaches is the replacement of petrol combustion engines with CNG/ LNG. The program director shared the short and long-term plan as all stakeholders put input into driving the initiative to a safe destination. The exhibition showcased a car and tricycle running on CNG and the focus was to see how jobs can be created by empowering mechanics to covert from petrol to Compressed Natural Gas and Electric as an alternative to fighting against climate change.ย Africa might be far behind but it is not too late for us to ignite the flame of a safe green environment โป๏ธ. The discussion had the representatives of the First Lady H.E Oluremi Tinubu, Sen. Ireti Kingibe, and in person, Hon. Rukayat Shittu, Lukas Schifferle, Safiya Mohammad Adamu, and many more. The center of conversation simply is that though there is a 35% slot allocated for women in governments, no doubt that we are advocating for full implementation across sectors, women should equip themselves ahead because such slot will only be given to capacity-lead women. I joined the Youth Budget conversation organized by @codedbdchange of @ilead4africa as we Amplified Our Voices in the Political Leadership and Policy Formulation around the budget. Our findings show that the budget seems robust in financing it and there should be a look into the agricultural value chain to salvage the impending borrowing to service the budget. It is expedient for acclaimed leaders of tomorrow to know how leaders of today are using the nation's wealth and what plans they have for their future. As an advocate of Sdg 13, gaining insight on the need for an urgent emergency ๐ call on climate change in Nigeria was underscored as there is a need for everyone to take this menace seriously not to call it other people's problems. It is a ticking bomb that might explode in our very eyes if we don't #ActNow. The effect is already around us as we experience the unusual cycle of temperature, flooding, rain, and destruction of infrastructure, agriculture imbalance harvest. We heard goodwill messages from Macarthur Foundation,ย Germany ๐ฉ๐ช Deputy Head, @NESG Tayo Aduloju who stated that there is a need for a paradigm shift across the nation towards a green economy, and as we cross over, the gaps and mistakes observed during the fuel energy should not be repeated in the cause of the transition. The panel section comprises Mr Abubakar Suleiman, CEO, Sterling Bank, Mrs Olufunke Baruwa, Programme Officer, Ford Foundation and Ms Tengi George-Ikoli, Senior Officer, NRGI, the overall resolution was that we need to be the actor by taking our advocacy to the level of implementing solar/green economy equipment in our homes. The highlight of the report was delivered by Prof. Chuks Okereke, CCCD and the following recommendations are; ๐ We need adequate climate funding. ๐ Proper policy framework and implementation. ๐ Increase the level of awareness and collaboration both vertical and horizontal. ๐ Targeted Settlement intervention across all the sectors. CALL FOR ATTENTION The @yaliabuja organized its monthly face2face October edition with mixed emotions being the first meeting after the demise of Greatness Olorunfemi ๐ญ๐ญ The event was opened by the coordinator @moyosoluwaoladayo who in her tears reported on the level of investigation done so far as we still call for #justiceforgreatnessHR. A short video of the demised was played as we all were sobbing in our corners. Hence, the Red Cross practitioners took us through the First Aid measures to be taken during an emergency, and @interfig lectured us on Security Awareness, procedures, and tips we need to know. The edition ended with contestant giving their manifesto which I was privileged to be part of the journey.ย Details about that on another day. As we are still mourning our dear friend who died as a victim of one chance, I implore us all to stay safe and maximize every security tip taught. There is no doubt that we all are sojourners here on Earth but what matters most is the ability to discover God's purpose for our lives and walk the talk. @gotni_ngo under the leadership of @drlinusokorie organized two days of electrifying #EmergingLeadersConference THEMED: THE FUTURE OF WORK. If you ask me where should i have been during the weekend, it is actually where it matters most because understanding the future of work will help me achieve my goals and aspirations. A quote from one of the speakers said "๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐" and this was what I already did by volunteering after being selected to participate in the event. I can go on and on with experiences gained from all the seasoned speakers but one thing that stands out was knowing the power of Networking. Being where it matters most goes beyond the environment but being able to network with like-minded people is the Future of Work itself and this made me come in contact with all these powerful youth; VaL Okafor, Prominence Promise, @Deborah Onajeta, Faith Victor, @Paul Adeagbo, EFFIONG INNOCENT. I appreciate God for giving me the privilege to experience the event a second time in a role.
