My wool pressing mats were looking bad. It didn't help that I spilled coffee on one either. I decided the best thing to do was to cover them up after I did my best to clean them up. I used this beautiful #Divine Vines" wideback by Color Principle for @henry_glass_fabrics . I thought this black/grey version looked tres chic next to my grey cutting mat and the dark color would hide dirt better. I sewed the sides and left the ends open. I have secured the ends with crystal twist pins for upholstery. I finished the quilt top of the pattern I'm testing for @primetimequiltco today. I'm going to wait to show off my version of the Twilight Quilt. Until then, here are my square in square blocks. I didn't pay attention to fabric direction when making these, and I really don't care. My philosophy is that when the quilt is used, it often goes in multiple directions, and the person using it coukd probably care less if all the fabrics are oriented in the same direction. Here is my Spring Garden Quilt. Pattern is by @runningstitchquilts I used fabrics by @annamariahorner and her @conservatorycraft line for @freespiritfabrics the background fabric is from @studio_e_fabrics I quilted this on my Tin Lizzie and used the Lisa's Raindrops pantograph from @urban.elementz because all Spring flowers need some rain. I made the baby size and really love this size for a baby quilt. I would call the pattern perfect for an adventurous beginner. It's not hard, but it's also not a super easy or quick pattern. It's the sort of pattern that requires some patience and lots of time with the iron. Holy Moly! I knew the Big Sky Star Quilt was huge, but didn't realize it could cover a Queen sized bed. I keep a quilt curio cabinet in my guest room - no kitties allowed in here (at least not my kitties). I always lay the quilts on the bed in here to fold them down to fit into the cabinet. Story time! Carrie at @liftinglimitsquilting designed the Origins Quilt Pattern based off the first quilt she made - her quilting origin. Here are my two Origin Quilts (swipe to see) at my career origin as an environmental scientist. That mural of the bobcat and Bluebonnets is by @aartbyaaron and is painted on a lift station. If you don't know what a lift station is, to putting it simply, it pumps shit (wastewater). I did an internship with the City of Wichita Falls and part of that time was spent visiting lift stations for maintenance. I then took a job with the City when I graduated at the Wastewater Treatment plant. I spent a few years there before moving to the Drinking Water side of things. When my former boss posted photos of the newly painted lift station, I wanted to see it when I traveled back to town for the holidays. I had no intention of taking quilt photos there, but when I saw how beautiful this mural was and how well the colors went with my quilts, it just had to happen.
