Cristy and Alec Fraser’s son Julian was diagnosed with #osteosarcoma at 19. He was given very little chance of survival. Julian’s response: “I don’t care what they say, I’m gonna beat this.” Julian courageously fought with every ounce of strength against this disease and was embraced by a community - a family - who made him stronger and gave us all hope. Friends from coast to coast pulled together to shower Julian with love and support. @MemorialSloanKettering’s team was outstanding and made our community even stronger and our journey hopeful. Unfortunately, Julian lost his battle with cancer at 20 in 2017. His positive attitude, #warrior strength and determination continues to inspire us all. The love and support we continue to receive near and far is enough motivation to fuel our hearts and power us through. Our #hope is that we can make a difference so that there are many more victories like Noah Grove, and others who beat cancer. Julian’s 25th Birthday is this Wednesday the 22nd of September. On this #MotivationMonday the message is one word: GRATITUDE. GRATITUDE for the $400,000 that this coast to coast cycle has raised so far. GRATITUDE for all of the love and support that was with TeamJF as we traveled from Old Greenwich, CT to Santa Clara, CA. GRATITUDE for every act of kindness from a hug to a bed to a meal to a monetary donation. GRATITUDE for every one of you who read our daily posts and simply smiled as you thought about our journey. GRATITUDE for the ability and strength to try to make sense of Julian’s loss and find purpose in a mission to help fight pediatric cancers. GRATITUDE for Julian’s wings, his spirit, and his love of community that so inspires us each and every day. The Julian Fraser Memorial Water Polo Tournament has ended and that spirit of community was present in all who attended and followed us. The 5,000 mile cross country bike ride has also ended leaving Alec and Cristy and TeamJF exhausted physically and emotionally yes, yet almost speechless that “we did it”. The one thing that has not ended… nor will it ever… is our devotion to keeping Julian’s memory alive and continuing his legacy in this fight to help others. Our #motivationmonday today is for Vivienne and her family. Vivienne exuded kindness and love to all. She was filled with grace, positivity and humor and left everyone feeling like a better person for having met her. On November 16th, 2018 Vivienne was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG). She hadn’t grown into the cause that she was passionate about. This happens when you die at the age of 11 years and you don’t get to live out your dreams. Her family is left gut wrenched and heartbroken, trying to make sense of her life and her wishes for eternity. As a tribute to Vivienne and the Girl she was, her mother has been "stirring hell and outrage on Earth to propel / motivate all to donate to find a cure to all Childhood Cancers. 4% of Federal budget at NIH is not fair” The Finns are “Family Partners” with The ChadTough Foundation / @chadtoughdefeatdipg and passionately work to bring research, funding and more good days for families with brain cancer. ChadTough is in the process of developing a parent/patient portal with search engines that find more specific trials for certain cancer mutations. Also they will give helpful tips on what to do when you are newly diagnosed etc. No brain cancer patient needs to feel overwhelmed, there is a ChadTough family flocking to the rescue. Every person, every dollar helps patients like Vivienne and furthers research.
