On Sundays I try to stay up to date on my 'temperature blanket'. The high and low temperature of each day determines the color that I knit for each row. And due to the nature of the stitch pattern, the color of the high temperature is highlighted on one side of the blanket, and the colors for the low temperature is highlighted on the reverse. Spring is such a funny time of year in Colorado - one day we are in t-shirts, and the next there is snow on the ground (we had snow again yesterday). I am seeing those fluctuations really show up in the stripes that can be seen on the 'high temperatures' side of this blanket. Happy Sunday, friends. How has your knitting aesthetic evolved over the years? 🩵 ⬩⬩⬩ For me, coming back to personal knitting after a long hiatus has been interesting. 2023 was the sparsest knitting year I’ve had since probably 2018, and that included both designing and personal knitting. Prior to that, designing definitely took center stage for most of 2021-2022. Last fall, I sold/gave away more than half of my personal knitted items because I’d moved on from their aesthetic. This year, I took stock of where my time and energy has been spent, and what inspires me — both as a designer and a knitter — and noticed a shift. Rather than bold graphics, I’m gravitating toward classic motifs and tailored shapes. Instead of ornate, colorful pieces, I want delicate and elegant neutrals with understated details. And I really don’t mind a small gauge on small needles. It really brings me back to the days when I was still delightfully discovering a relationship with this craft, reveling in the careful details and relishing in the patience of a handmake. I treated myself to @wool.and.palette’s stunning Denim colorway in sport weight, knowing I wanted it to become a very special piece. Pages of Ravelry searching later, I landed on a pattern that made my heart soar. A bit of swatching later, and I’ll be working on size 1 and 2 needles. Yum. ANHOLT - sidste weekenden besøgte jeg (Birgitte) Anholt for først gang. Og ja, det er en kæmpe fejl, at jeg aldrig havde været der før! Øen er ikke stor - med naturoplevelsen kæmpe og meget varieret. En smuk unik dansk naturperle som jeg helt sikkert kommer tilbage til. Today at my family birthday lunch (❤️❤️❤️) I gave my mom her Pressed Flowers shawl, finally, and I think she loved it. It was actually chilly, even though it’s almost May, so was wrapped right around her as soon as I gifted it to her. It took me about three months because I’m a very slow knitter ( plus I’m kind of busy 😉) but I did love knitting it for her. So what has happened since the last time, when I gave an update on it: The original plan is forgotten, the old item is frogged (few last images) and I am now making a long sleeved mesh knit. 😅 . I’m used to knitting projects for people I know, so it was exciting to knit up a blanket for a future little friend. 🤍💜🐇 This is the largest project I’ve knit to date, (if you can believe it), making me aware of just how small and quick my previous projects knit up. Hoping this is just the beginning of bigger projects to come! To add a little more dimension and fun to the pattern, I alternated colours depending on if I was doing garter or lace, and it certainly paid off! 🌿🍄✨️ My husband says that I like moving and decorating rooms more than I like using them. I would say he is half right. Depends on my mood. With my health lately I can't lift anything, energy is sporatic at best and pain levels are the same. I had a lot of help... finally after moving it a million times... I do believe my yarn room has found its permanent spot and I am absolutely smitten. • I have a couple of surgeries coming up. I was hoping to get the house in some what of an organized state and this room done so I could rest and be amongst my yarn if I had the energy. I am so so happy to see this space done. Current project which is a secret shhh gift. It may not look like what it’s supposed to be at the moment, but hopefully, very soon, this will look like the tea cosy it is supposed to be. I’ll make some lovely little coasters to go along side it, just haven’t decided on the design of those yet. This has been a troublesome project as the pattern I got wasn’t well written and it was incredibly confusing, but once I found a tutorial on YouTube for the twisting stitches, I was well on my way and am super proud of how well it’s coming along. Der #coverletpullover von @bugknits aus der letzten Ausgabe des #pompommag . Ich habe wirklich noch nie ein Pattern farblich 1:1 gestrickt. Aber hier war alles perfekt! Vom ersten Moment an, als ich diesen Pulli gesehen habe, war ich in ihn verliebt. Ich musste mich allerdings auf die Suche machen, nach einer Merinowolle mit diesen Farben, was gar nicht so einfach war, den die vorgegebene Wolle war von der Zusammensetzung her gar nicht mein Ding! Gefunden habe ich sie dann bei @handdyed.dk . Zudem habe ich die Ausführung für mich charmanter gestaltet, als mit Steek zu stricken, denn, wenn Raglan von oben nach unten geht, funktioniert es andersrum ebenfalls. Zu Beginn dachte ich mir auch: Wahnsinn, wer soll sich dieses Muster merken. Aber das Muster macht wirklich süchtig. Gauge is my Achilles heel. I don’t know what it is with me and swatches but I find it very hard to knit one (cough *arrogance* cough). And when I have knit them in the past they have sometimes given me misleading data. But I was forced to do some hard knitting maths here after getting it wrong and doing a LOT of ripping back TWICE. The last few weeks have been rocky so although I’ve been knitting a lot, my focus was way off. But no excuses really, it’s most probs just good old fashioned hubris. I will stop tit-arsing around and I will knit swatches from now on even if they are just little teeny ones. I have to admit: The small amount of extra work I did here seems to be paying off and the fit is good. ⭐️✨
