✨️the dress✨️ This is the @newlook #n6694 in view B! It seemed to take a while making this dress, with over 15 pattern pieces and a few mishaps along the way, it was definitely worth it! Fabric is a quilting cotton I bought from @spotlightstores on clearance nearly a year ago No mods on this pattern, I made a size 12 and it fits beautifully with some wiggle room 😍 Some special details: 🌼 puffy sleeves have a sleeve stay and the pleats are wonderful! 🌼 I did an accidental pattern match across the front where it buttons up 🌼 very difficult to see in the last photo but you can see it on the purple flower. For the #Sewaprilblouse24 the second blouse I have made is the PatinaBlouse by @fridaypatterncompany It's the first time I have made this pattern and it was so easy to follow and everything came together perfectly! I have used a lovely cotton fabric I received a few months ago in my #thinkpink subscription box from @beyond.thepinkdoor as well as a label from another month's box . I love how this turned out, it's soft and comfortable and will make a great layering piece when I have sewn up some dresses to wear over it! When I make this again I might consider sizing down slightly and taking a little out the shoulders. Check this shy little Regalia blouse with undulating pintucks, fancy stitching, taffeta and a dash of Interview with a Vampire vibes! Just a modest take on @sewhouse7 amazing Regalia blouse pattern 😁 This is the short-sleeve, cropped version. The pintucks are the first I’ve tried and took forever as I decided to look at photos then reverse-engineer the process 🤷🏻♀️. I found Tilly’s tutorial after I’d sewn them 🤦🏻♀️ but at least it was validating haha. I decided on a whim to add the fancy stitches on the collar and sleeve bands and I like the added texture and elevation it adds. As this Regalia has a lot more structure than my previous version in soft cotton ikat I’m finding the pintucks and topstitching make all its drama and volume feel all the more intentional. This was also the first time I’ve sewn taffeta - this is a poly version from @minervadotcom - and with my fine silk pins it was great to work with. This shy little number is my second entry to #sewaprilblouse24 which is rapidly nearing the finish line isn’t it @theyorkshiresewgirl and @cloth_edit ? Another fabulous turn out! 💚💚💚 FRAU HOLLY 💚💚💚 Endlich Blüschenwetter am Wochenende und ich habe gleich meine Frau Holly von @studioschnittreif ausgeführt. Dieses Schnittmuster stand schon ewig auf meiner Wunschliste bei @makerist und in der letzten Aktion habe ich bei studio Schnittreif so richtig zugeschlagen. Die Passform der Schnitte ist einfach perfekt für mich. Ich muss in der Regel keine Anpassungen vornehmen und fühl mich einfach wohl. Holly ist so eine diegehteinfachimmer Bluse. Eher unaufgeregt, dafür aber zeitlos schön. Die Anleitung war wie immer top und die Verarbeitung- bis auf die Streifenversäuberung am Halsausschnitt, ich bin da eher Team ungenau 🙈 - easy und durchaus schnell. Ich habe eine ganz fluffige Baumwolle aus meinem Bestand vernäht, der sich übrigens ganz schön minimiert hat. Some days I struggle to get a photo without one of the dogs deciding to photobomb, so today I just rolled with it and allowed Lola to be the star of the show, despite @bygraciesteel #foxielongboxies being the supposed showpiece! This is #foxieboxie number 6 (I think!) but my first long pair. I usually make a size E in the shorts but downsized to a D. Gracie mentions to downsize one or two for the long pants version, and next time I’d probably go down one more size. Leopard print cotton is from Etsy and loving that with such a print can still be classified as a neutral - can’t wait to see what other colour combos go with them! EN⬇️ Escapade au Soleil ☀️ Bei @erbsuende gibt es seit Freitag einen wunderschönen neuen Schnitt - den Rock Gloriosa. Vorne und hinten werden 3 Kellerfalten gelegt, der Reißverschluss hinten verschwindet einfach in der mittleren Kellerfalte. Der Schnitt hat natürlich Taschen und ist recht schnell genäht, sodass ich auf jeden Fall noch weitere Exemplare brauche. Ich finde, dass Gloriosa aus Viskose sehr schön fällt und habe hier einen absoluten Lieblingsstoff vernäht: Die Viskose Serenade von @lisetailor . Und weil ich den Rock und den Stoff so liebe, habe ich noch ein Outfit aus weiteren Stoffen von Lise Tailor drum herum gebastelt: Das Iris Shirt von @forgetmenotpatterns aus dem Baumwolljersey Berenice sowie einen selbst gebastelten Beutel mit Rüschen aus dem Baumwollsatin Bicyclette - alle Stoffe gekauft bei @berlinerschnitte (wo sonst? Cheeky 24 week #bumpdate Dressing in my usual wardrobe is getting to become a challenge so I think I’m going to participate in #memademay for the first time to help me get creative with #bumpstyle ! Rocking some early toiles of my #foxielongboxies & #titillatingtank 💙🤍 Third slide I posted to my stories the other day & feel like it needs a spot on the grid. It resonated with so many of you & I am so grateful to be feel safe enough to share this type of vulnerability with you. This silk satin is an absolute dream to wear & as you can see I experimented with piping & a cuff detail. I found the piping hugely challenging at the time & you can see the seams aren’t my finest - tension was not right. They are frenched though & lovely on the inside. They were always an awkward rise/fit at the hip but somehow they’re fitting better with the bump! Oh and did I mention I accidentally cut x4 fronts 🙃🫠 lucky there’s a stupendous amount of ease to accomodate the toosh! Dress composition: 🖤 The main fabric is a sweatshirt material, not from my supplies! I bought it solely because of this amazing print 😁 🩶 Huge eyelets, these are regular plastic curtain eyelets. They’ve been lying around for 2-3 years, I can’t remember what I bought them for, but definitely not for curtains 😂 🤍 The hood lining is cotton with elastane. In my opinion, the hood holds its shape better compared to single jersey and is not as heavy as from sweatshirt material. 🖤 Ribbon in the sleeves. So I took a leap during a half-off sale for Seamwork unlimited before realizing several of their patterns are not drafted for my size all the way. I thought I might be able to get away with the Bobby dress, because of the elastic waistband but measuring the pattern pieces I just don't think so. However! With all the sewing and learning I have done in the last year, I decided to try and grade out a bit, just to see what happens. I'll be using some hand me down fabric to practice with, so I'm actually looking forward to testing this out! Changes: - Graded out to a 28 - cut everything as a whole piece instead of individual pieces sewn together (1 front, 1 back etc) - I am 5'3" and the pattern is drafted for 5'8". First I measured the bodice pieces against a Cashmerette pattern I like and they seemed roughly similar, so I decided to take 6 inches off the bottom of the dress just as a first attempt (also to make the pieces fit the fabric I had) Practice: - cut flat to have better control of a slinkier fabric and to save fabric - I had just a few inches to spare! My 2nd entry for the Sew April Blouse Competition!! Hey @cloth_edit and @theyorkshiresewgirl , cheers for all your hard work! I won a voucher to @thorpeandco Boolaroo, when the coat I made Bae came in 1st at our local show! I hadn’t actually purchased anything from Thorpe and co before- but when I walked in - this gorgeous cotton just caught my eye. I am loving chartreuse, and the pops of neon just dazzled. This material is by Kathy Doughty @materialobsession in her latest trade winds collection, called treasure flower. So a couple hours later, I’d drafted a top, pulling on some features that just feel ‘blous-y’, like pin tucks, elastic cuff 3/4 sleeves, and a button back. I cropped, as most of my pants are high waisted, and I adore the look. I made a second @ellieandmac_patterns Tiffany Tranquil Tank Top. I messed up when I was cutting the front bodice and accidentally cut it with the stretch going up and down. It's dbp, so it still had a little stretch horizontally, but not enough. As a fix, I added a strip of fabric down between the side seams (last pic!) It worked beautifully and I love this new top. I'll definitely be wearing it a bunch this summer. This yarn was an impulse buy when I was very stressed about something and saw this color on sale at my LYS. (The lesson I’m taking from this is, always stress-buy the yarn — right??) Most of my projects begin with a concrete vision and a lot of planning, but I had no idea what to do with this yarn once I bought it. It marinated in my stash for almost a year until I saw the sleeves on this pattern and something clicked. The drape of this fingering weight wool lends substance to these dramatic bell sleeves, and I like how they are balanced by the slightly cropped length body. (Still not sure about the cropped sweater trend in general, but it does work over my favorite me-made dress!) 📐 Amedeo sweater by @kolibri.by_johanna, size M. I finally finished the @scrooppatterns Frances Rump I needed to be able to wear my new dress--just in time to wear this weekend. 😀 I used all supplies I already had in the house to make it a free project--which means it's stuffed with alpaca fiber I had--not exactly a historical filling.
