My inexpensive hot air gun gave up the ghost so I decided to get a better quality soldering/smd station. Got this beauty here and got to work with some “safety” improvements. Verified connection to earth on the soldering iron tip and hot air nozzle. Added some heat shrink over the solder points on the iron’s connector. Added an additional earth wire to one of the standoffs on the power board. Now all metal parts of the chassis connect to earth. Checked that proper X and Y caps were used on the power supply board. The board seems to be a new revision so no other mods were needed to be done I think. Calibration done and both iron and hot air gun are about +/- 5’C from the indicated temp which is more than good enough for me! Когда-то давно заказал конструктор - станцию на Т12. Комплектацию выбрал с интересной (на взгляд из описания комплекта) ручкой. Но ручка по итогу оказалось печальным колхозом и весь конструктор почти отправился в мусорку. Почти, потому что был приобретен еще и комплект жал. Спустя много лет попалось все это под руку и решил дать 2й шанс. Приобрел другую ручку и получилось достаточно красиво. Something different in today! A customer had brought us a MDI clone motherboard that needed a new mini USB port soldered on. I've never even heard or one before but I've repaired it none the less! The port is in and better than the original factory installation, the solder is solid and shiny, also there is no left over residue on the board after the work has been completed. Being "essential", I worked overtime basically every day last week and with the ongoing riots I just haven't been paying much attention to the internet in order to keep what little sanity I have left. . But I figured I'd pop in and say that I have the best community of folks ever over on Twitch. (yes, I know we all say that, but mine is actually the best.) . Ever since I heard "RGB" from MLiG on YouTube, I've basically been obsessed with getting into retro gaming consoles and either modding or restoring them. . Being that I'm a computer electronics engineering major, I figured I'd finally put some of that knowledge to work having basically not used it whatsoever for the past decade. . Decided to open it tonight and discovered the circuit board for all the buttons was completely severed near the power button (no idea how. I did buy it used). Fun project at my new job. Installing a network rack, UPS, NAS (with external backup), 24 port switch, 24 port punch panel, with 18 Cat5e terminations. Each of the 18 is 8 wires each so that’s 144 individual terminations. The router is external of this room due to wifi signal being blocked by walls and such. . . . . . . . .
