When we pray, it's important to have a fixed place (Makom Kavuah). Our minds are not necessarily focused on our physical surroundings but are directed towards Yerushalayim. This is intriguing because if we are spiritually rooted in the place of the Temple Mount, Mount Moriah, (Har Hamoriah) and the (Har Habayis) Temple Mount, then wherever we are, we can pray. How often do people truly feel that they are standing on the Har Habayis? Having a fixed place doesn't necessarily mean having a physical spot; it means that the place is within us. Wherever we pray, we can access that same spiritual place. I haven't written in some time, and for that I apologize. Today, my head is together enough to write this...I do miss reading. Thad a dream one day of being in a place where no one was able to see me. It was a room full of important people, and I felt that there was a wonder in the air about why I hadn't said anything yet. I felt like my mouth was frozen, and I thought to myself, I'm not shy anymore. This was some time before 2018, when my world exploded in front of me, ground zero twice in a six month span. I was a single woman again living in her own apartment. Best time of my life! Going back to the dream, 2018 was a rough year, and I continue to be in recovery. But, since I am a fighter, I still taking a step forward everyday. This I am thankful for! The when will I get better, doesn't matter, so long as I keep moving forward. Refuting Holocaust "singularity" The facts of history exist whether we choose to acknowledge them or not. And when we decide to ignore and suppress history we're doomed to repeat it, as we see happening today. The failure to make connections between the past and the present is not due to a lack of information but because this information threatens the sacred cows of American exceptionalism, European exceptionalism and the seemingly unassailable reality of white supremacy. The failure to make connections between the past and the present is why we are currently watching a genocide unfolding on our smartphone screens while our governments continue handing over money and weapons to the perpetrators. What these governments are doing might seem irrational but their actions are rooted in very real philosophies, world views and concepts. I love conceptual art because without a good concept, without a good idea, art is simply a decoration. The concept is what infuses artwork with meaning. Refuting Holocaust "singularity" A brief look at something I plan to dive into soon. Considering my own history with Indigenous solidarity and decolonization work it feels pretty relevant and necessary. Because this "Holocaust singularity" nonsense is a huge barrier to seeing the true horror of what's happening today in Gaza and its connection to other historical events. Claiming that one genocide is more important and consequential than all others is also a slap in the face to all genocide victims and those who continue to be oppressed by colonialism today. Looking objectively at history and the role colonialism has played in instigating genocide is a necessary part of bringing some folks down from their pedestals and ivory towers.
