Sages race weekend recap! We started the weekend off with @ixcr at #leefarms, due to a busy Friday we didn’t get to the track until right at dark Friday and wasn’t able to get a track walk in. Sage has a decent jump off the line Saturday morning but couldn’t find his flow for the first couple of laps due to not knowing what the track was like, after feeling it out, his pace picked up and he was able to work back to 8th overall out of 34. Sunday morning we raced with @crossroadsracingseries in nearby Mooresville indiana, we woke up Sunday morning with the thermometer reading in the mid 30s! The crossroads track was a super tight and rough layout consisting of deep ruts and LOTS of big roots and stumps! Sage got the HOLESHOT in the 50 jr 6-7 class and immediately began working his way through the 13 rider class of 90s in front of him trying to catch the overall leaders. He made it up to 5/6 place overall and had pulled out over a minute and a half class lead before hitting a root on a nasty uphill that sent him into a tree, his throttle stuck wide open and his quad literally climbed the tree throwing him off the back. A HUGE thank you goes out to Brandon Miller for being there to jump in and help him immediately! After Brandon was able to get him calmed down and back going sage was flustered and just couldn’t settle back into the same groove and ended the day 2nd in class and 9th overall out of 32. Overall it was a good weekend and we are happy to be walking away safe with no major damage to both sage or his @drroffroad 50! We are regrouping, practicing, and heading north to #crawfordsvilleindiana Friday for round 6️⃣ of @gncc_racing ! @drroffroad #drrusa

It’s a rainy December day here at the farm and we are starting to wrap things up and winterize everything! Kara brought down the last of our available trees for the season for easy grabs in front of the market. There are about 10 trees available and they are all beautiful and still super fresh! She even put a fresh cut on everything this morning! One thing we strive for is to have not excessive waste, when you cut trees that’s it, we get asked if you can replant them, and that’s not a thing. So we plan, and monitor and make sure that we only cut what we need. And then the trees that are left over get composted and put back into the bio system of our working farm. #leefarms #realfarm #notaboxstore #familyfarm

Every night, flocked trees for the day get hauled into the market so they can properly dry and be ready to go to their new homes! Once an order is placed for a flocked tree it takes a few days in the que to get it flocked and into dry before they can go home. Or else the flock will be ruined in transport. Flocking is such a fun, whimsical addition to your Christmas tree! It’s biodegradable, fire resistant, and doesn’t require you water your tree. AND it’s so beautiful! We’re starting Christmas trees this week! Tree hours are: Open Tuesday-Friday NOON-4 Saturday & Sunday 9-4 The market and bakery is Tuesday-Sunday 9-5 Tree cutting hours are separate than our store hours! Why? Because weekday mornings the crew is working their booties off to get freshly already cut trees in from our offsite fields. Then they service guests in the afternoon before it gets dark! Almost all of the trees we sell are grown by our family right here on our farm, from seedling to your home. And we also don’t like to cut our trees in October or even September (😱). We cut them fresh and haul them in everyday. So that you can get the best product possible from our family. I was talking to a gianormous tree farm in Molalla in early October, placing an order for some wreath tags, and in the background I could hear all the ruckus of Christmas tree cutting and baling; then we started talking about all the lots and middle man farms they sell their trees to. The only way they can supply and get the trees cut and ready is to start stock piling them early. Then they can get to all the lots and big box stores in time so they can be stocked and ready when they open. It would honestly be easier for us to that; to cut early and not have the insane manual labor of working trees before opening each day. But that will never happen, because getting our customers the freshest tree possible and a good product is the first priority. So much Friday fun at Lee Farms Pumpkin Patch 🎃 for the cost-concious, going to most pumpkin farms will leave you $$ hungry, but there is so much family fun that makes it worthwhile. Took what ended up being the last hay ride to the pumpkin patch, which didn't allow the little ones time to pick one out and catch the ride back to the farm. Lesson learned. However, there are already picked pumpkins at the event grounds, so don't despair.
