At less than two-months-old, this small leopard cat kitten was in desperate need of rescue. Heavy rains and flash floods in Assam, India swept the kitten from its home, into a nearby village. Locals found the kitten and were able to keep it safe inside a temple until the forest department could transport it safely to Wildlife Trust of India-IFAW’s Centre for Wildlife Rehabilitation and Conservation (CWRC). Now, the young wild leopard cat is in care at the CWRC, under supervision with minimal exposure to humans. The new rescue at the Laos Wildlife Sanctuary may look like a pet you'd find roaming around your house but she is, in fact, a wild little leopard cat. 😻 It came as quite a surprise to the owner, who after purchasing a kitten from an unknown seller, took the kitten for a veterinary check-up only to find that it was not a domestic cat! After confirmation that the cat was a wild animal, the owner thankfully contacted the sanctuary right away.
